    Telling my PCP

I have BCBS-MA and I think he had to sign something even though I have a PPO and didn't need a referral. I did call and inform him so he wouldn't be surprised if faxed something from my surgeon. He was fine with it.

    Gluten free help!

I am gluten "intolerant", and found this out over a year ago. I'm a label hawk, and a majority of restaurants will accommodate GF diners - just ask for the GF or allergen menu. There are some that aren't just there yet...like the Cheesecake Factory. It's certainly a challenge at first, but you do get used to it. Gluten is used in the stupidest things...things you'd never suspect. But as mentioned above, rule out other issues before assuming it's a gluten issue. Intolerance is hard to actually test for, unlike celiacs. I didn't test positive for celiacs, even though it's in my family. But after I removed gluten from my diet I felt 1000% better - that's how I know. If I have gluten now, I get sick, blotted, etc. Don't need a PhD for that! Best of luck to you!
  3. If you don't have a padded tiolet seat, now may be the time But seriously, they are not a big deal at all. You get "cleaned out" over a couple of hours. It's an inconveneice, but like someone else said, you're not in pain, and it's not like you're sick with a flu or stomache bug. Then the next day you get a nice "nap", wake up and go home. Then you can focus on the bigger picture at hand, your WLS in August. We'll be recovering around the same time Thinking happy thoughts for a normal/negative outcome to your exam!

    Surgery Date Confirmed

Congrats!! I know how you feel, lol. I got my date a little over a week ago, it's 8/14. Funny how it hits you once you finally have that date.
  5. I would ask them to email you a copy of the policy related to bariatric surgery. They should also be able to send you the most current list of approved hospitals. I don't have the same insurance, but I did this and had the email in minutes. Seems like a standard request. I brought it to my consult and they were thrilled to have the info. Made life easy. Good luck !

    Ins approved!

Congrats! From one tattoo chick to another, I think you'll do fine Just don't wait for it to get intolerable. Once you start playing catch up with the pain, it's challenging to get it under contol. Stay ahead of it. Ask for pain meds if you're hurting. There are no medals for sucking it up and being miserable. I've had more than my fair share of elective surgeries. I've learned my lesson
