Have you discussed this with your doctor? If you are exercising that much you might be eating too little, which can cause stalls. Your body may be protecting itself from starvation.
Stalls are normal but a month warrants a check-in with the professionals, I think.

Sometimes people can feel threatened by the change they see in you. They don't know if they can have the same success. It can create insecurity and even lead to sabotage.
I started trying to lose weight on my own (and had some success, just nowhere near fast enough), my ex was fine until I really started making headway.
You know what I got for my birthday that year... A deep fryer.
    WTF!? LOL
You can't make people be ready for change when you are. Just work toward the best you.

Please don't think I'm trying to be rude, because that's not my intention. However, I fully believe that you set yourself up to fail if you do WLS for anyone or any reason other than yourself and your health. So in that aspect, if you thought it'd improve your relationship or inspire her, then yeah it likely does feel unsuccessful. On the flip side, if you're healthier (congrats on 111lbs gone!), and you're leading a healthier life, then it is a success. What you can't do with or without this surgery is change someone else and their habits. They have to do that for themselves and when/if they're ready to do it. I can relate on every level. My boyfriend and I have been together for 9 years, and while he has made healthier choices when I cook for the both of us because well... he's not going to say no to the food. He still makes terrible choices if left to his own free will, or in some cases he'll even try to get me to eat them with him. It's hard, but it took me months to finally accept that I changed my health and happiness, and I can't do that for him. Only he can. Which... he's older, so it's going to catch up to him eventually.
Anyways, I won't lie, I've seen and heard about WLS shining some lights on things they never expected (incompatibilities), but just keep the lines of communication open with her. Express your concern for her health, and that you're ready and willing to help her when she's ready and willing for the help. There's not a whole lot you can do unless you're looking to make serious changes, and that's a whole other ballpark.

That's far-fetched "all the glory overshadow the people that are hurting, dying, in, and out of the hospital". The hospital I had my sleeve done has ZERO fatalities. And this is surgery, what do you expect? There are always risks to going under the knife. And your comment about divorcing? That's why you make sure you have supportive people around you. If someone divorces you for this, they didn't hold their vow to stay with you through thick & thin. You're over generalizing.

I'm 3 days post op. My 1st two days I had "sleever's regret" but that's because I'm in so much pain. I'm better today now that I'm home comfortable. It hurts but I know in the long run it will pay off.

Anne, you list yourself as having surgery last December. If that's correct you are still in the early stages when things are challenging. You haven't stated what challenges you are having, so we can't give you the benefit of our experiences.
As for bariatric surgery being a moneygrab, well, mine was covered by the government so that's not true in my case.
As for being sold something i don't need...I've had a neurologist, a cardiologist and a rheumatologist all tell me I did the best thing I could have done for my health, and that I have very likely increased my lifespan...
    Sooooo...
REGRETS???? You've got to be kidding! 4 years later I'm even happier I had this opportunity at a better life than ever before!

Don't believe in the naysayers. MOST of us here have gone through it, and are very successful. Bypass may have its long term issues, that's why I stayed away from it, but sleeve is very safe. Of course you feel regret after the surgery until you get back to normal, but that's with everything in life your house, your car, your this and that. Buyers remorse will always kick in.
Its more the reward you get out of it, how people accept it, and the reward is HUGE.

Studies show that losing weight is far more complicated than we ever thought. I tried for 40 years to lose the extra weight, but only got heavier. WLS was the re-set I needed to have a fresh start at a healthy lifestyle.
Poor food choices IS the main cause of obesity, and yes, if you don't address it you'll undo all the good work the surgery did. My recommendation is to see the surgery as part of the strategy. Education, nutrition, therapy, and setting lifestyle goals are equally important.
Without the surgery you might be able to lose the weight if you employ those other factors but it'll be harder and take longer, meaning there is a better chance you'll give up and fail. You've probably experienced that already. I can't tell you if it's right for you but I can tell you that surgery succeeded for me (and several of my friends) where 40 years of going it alone failed.
It's okay to have second thoughts. It's also okay to talk to a certified person to help you through this. Best of luck!

I agree, it doesn't diminish the importance of exercise, but the idea that more more more is better is not true and is being pushed by the fitness industry a lot! That's not helpful to people fighting obesity.

This is partly why I started a blog. We need more people educating people on the true science of wls. So many people dying of obesity when there is help!! It's sad!
People have no idea how challenging post-op life can be, but how amazingly wonderful it is, too.

Geez that was long!!! I agree with the bulk of it. Exercise only accounts for less than 20% of your overall physique (fat, muscles, etc) and diet is over 80%. People can lose weight just from changing their diet alone. Exercise is a boost really. I've never really agreed with the calorie in, calorie out though. I did once upon a time, but now it's just eating better quality food and watching how much to eat. Eat when you're hungry and stop when you're full/content. Now, the article almost came off as, you don't have to exercise at all. Although this can be true, kind of, it's even better to incorporate exercise to get the best "bang for your buck" so-to-speak. So, for weight loss, yes, it can help. But heart conditioning, muscle building, strengthening, stretching...those are all excellent benefits of exercise and we still do lose calories doing them (if you count calories) but the diet is what counts most.

Tonight was fun as I pushed all the meat and lovely vegetables away so I could strain a cup of Delicious Bone Broth out of the Crockpot. Honestly in the past I never would eat much of the broth but now it is a delicacy after making it through the day on Protein Shakes. This Upcoming Surgery has reminded me to be thankful.

I am looking forward to standing in front of the crowd on Group Pictures instead of hiding behind 3 or 4 people so you can only see my head. I Love Myself Plenty and Honestly Spit a lot of Game for a Big Guy but I have a lot of room for improvement and intend on putting the Best Me back out in the World. So one of my Goals for 2017 is to stop hiding from the Camera and expose myself just as I am and let the changes be seen in the Photo's.

I think this is far more common than uncommon. We made a decision to alter our bodies and we think maybe unlike other surgeries this one is not mandatory. I do see it as mandatory. I spent 40 years trying to lose weight and just got heavier. Obesity is a disease that kills.
No surgery should be taken lightly and there are pro's and cons. The pros far surpassed the cons for me, and that's what I kept remembering when I was scared.
You're doing great. Hang in there. it gets easier.

I'm a teacher and received 8 boxes of chocolate, 1 mug of chocolate, and 1 candy bar from my students. I plan to regift it so I don't eat it. I'm not a big chocolate fan so that helps with temptations. I politely tossed 3 cupcakes, a few Cookies, and dessert bar after school. #thoughtfulstudentsbariatricteacher

I had the same issue with sugar and I want you to understand that it's NOT about willpower. Sugar has been proven to be as addictive as cocaine or tobacco. Don't feel like a failure if you're having trouble kicking it. I have just had to do a sugar cleanse in order to get control of my increasing sugar intake. You have to get it out of your system using behavioural and mental techniques. Reading David Kessler's book Sugar, Salt and Fat helped me a lot. The number one thing I learned is that you have a very small moment to in time to stop the urge from becoming overwhelming. The second you have the thought: I want a cookie, you MUST address it by following up with: "BUT I won't have one because it will make me want more, and I will feel horrible later. I would rather keep my weight down, and feel good..."
Kicking sugar can take up to 10 days before it becomes easier. I'm not going to lie. I was cranky and miserable. But now I'm back on track, feel great, and love that my clothes fit better. I've also stopped feeling constantly hungry. Yay!
Have a buddy to help you stay accountable. Shame and silence only makes it worse.
    You can do it!
