KC VSG got a reaction from Mremilio in POST OP HELL-HELP
Great advice mremilio. I too will piggyback behind him and say during the first few days it's really imperative to focus primarily on your liquids don't push yourself on the Protein just yet. Just worry about making sure that you stay hydrated & that you get plenty of rest so you can heal. hopefully in a few days you'll start feeling better and then you can start pushing the protein.

Like deedadumble said, if you don't add an international plan, I'd definitely suggest turning your phone to airplane mode or you will get charged for incoming calls and text messages.
I did not get an international plan, but could still email and use FaceTime and iMessages for free when connected to WiFi.

It's in the Mexico surgery forum so of course it's relevant.
I added intl data and voice when I went because I had to be available for work. It was about $55 total.
Your best solution to avoid charges is to turn on airplane mode and then only use wireless. Make sure you download a chat app or Skype. You may need to buy some Skype minutes.

I don't find anything appalling in the article. Seems right on to me. Just my humble opinion.

I'm doing good. I'm 5 days out and can drink a whole lot more than on day 3 when I came home. So it seems each day I'm improving greatly.

I'm tired of being sick and tired. I'm tired of my weight holding you back from living my life. I want to be able to do more with my children and not have them be a shamed of me. I just want to live.

Oh my goodness my grandma has a Sunday dinner every single Sunday and I've been thinking about when I start my pre-op diet next month! How difficult it's going to be sitting there while everyone's eating all this big spread of food that she puts out and I'm going to be sitting there with Protein Shake LOL

I'm starting to see more posts from folks with stalls, or gaining some weight back, or I'm 'X' pounds away from goal and I want to kindly remind everyone that weight is a number. It's the way the medical community determines success/failure with weight loss surgery.
It should not be our way of determining success or failure. Stop getting on the scale. Focus on the non scale victories. We have them daily. You just have to be aware of them. Even with myself being in the maintenance stage, I still have NSVs. I just am not always aware of them and then when I am, it's as good as the first NSV.
I've been on this forum for more than two years. I provide my stats just so other morbidly obese folks can see that WLS works. No other reason. I don't weigh myself anymore. I know by what I've eaten, how I'm doing. I know by the fit of my clothes, how I'm doing. I know I'm successful because I can walk again when I was almost wheelchair bound. I know I'm successful because I am healthier than I've been in almost 20 years. I know I'm successful because I look people in the eye again. I know I'm successful because I care about how I look again. I know I'm successful because I am actually out there dating again. I know I'm successful because I can take trips with my family and not be a burden. I know I'm successful because I can put my leg up on the bench in the shower and shave my legs again. I know I'm successful because I can sit in a chair with arms.
Shall I go on? Do you get it now? As the weight drops...quickly or slowly or in a non-linear fashion, we experience all types of NSVs. Focus on those. Enjoy your lives, you are making choices to be better. Even if you falter, you can get back on track. You have the tools so know that every day is a new beginning and today is the day to pay attention to how much healthier/happier you are now than before.
Have a good day today and be kind to yourselves. I'm heading out in a couple of hours to see my new grandson born this past Thursday. I can get on the train with no problems, climb the stairs at the train station without worrying if I'll make it or not, not worry about how big the hospital is because I can walk without pain, and hold the baby in my arms and know that I will be the most active grandma this kid will ever know. Come look for me....I'll be the little lady in the park climbing the monkey bars with her grandson in a few years. That my friends, is success.

So how is it that I've trolled this site and numerous Facebook support group sites for over a year and still have managed to be completely dumbfound on the prices associated with the post op life style? As my surgery date draws near (June 12th) I have decided to map out a list of all things I need to still purchase. I went online to bariatric advantages to purchase all my Vitamins. $191 later I now have a 3 mth supply! Wow! I knew they were going to be pricey but I wasn't prepared for that high of a number! Next I ordered my food scale $15 not bad, my single serve blender which was also not bad at just $15 and then went to price out some protein! Holy smokes $45 for a tub of zero carb isopure! Ok, ok, I'll just look for the premade Isopure drinks instead.....still $45 for a 12 pack! Yikes! Looks like I'm going to have to hold off a few weeks before that purchase!

KC VSG got a reaction from mrs kaje in How do you handle family ?
That's why I don't want to tell anyone. I've told one of my sisters and I honestly don't know if she actually believe me! I don't plan on telling anyone else until I get back. When I told the dietician at my pcp office she gave me this lecture about me being so young (27) and that I can do this on my own. She said that the surgery isn't for people who only need to lose 100lbs but more for people who need to lose 200-300. Smh I don't understand how someone with a masters degree can be so small minded and uneducated.
