I am a nightgown girl. I think nightgowns are easier, because I didn't want anything with a waistband (had an incision right at that place where a waistband would be) plus I just love my nightgowns!! I brought 3 with me, just in case! They were comfy, and I looked stylish doing my laps around the hall! lol...
My bariatric coordinator gives everyone a small firm pillow with a picture of the procedure on it. I used it to press against my stomach when I needed to get in and out of bed, also when I needed to give a nice strong cough to clear my lungs after surgery, and I continued using it to help me at home. If you aren't given one of these (ask ahead) make sure you bring a small firm pillow with you for this purpose.
    Great idea Diva!

I have anthem bcbs through my husbands work, also. Everybody's journey is so different. I would hate to have to wait six months. I heard that was the norm for a lot of people.

I would say all the additives to Water you mentioned are perfectly fine. Noncaloric and no caffeine.

My surgery is this coming Thursday so I cannot say for certain yet. However, I was just on a forum page that spoke about the difference between over-eating and food addiction. I felt already that I will need a support group as I know I have that food addiction. They also have a 12 step overeaters forum going as well. I hope you find something u can substitute those cakes and Cookies with. I am going to do whatever it takes to be successful at this. Good luck my friend!

You don't owe anyone an explanation for anything. The ladies who are giving you a hard time are just looking for something to gossip about. Let them think whatever they want. They don't matter.
When I get asked how much I've lost my answer is always "a bunch." When they ask how I did it, "one pound at a time." People generally figure by this point my weight is not on the table for discussion.
Keep up the great work and don't the the haters get to you!

I'm going through the same thing. I was sleeved almost 6 weeks ago. Most people in my office think I just had gall bladder surgery (which I did). My boss and two co-workers whom I trust know that I also had the sleeve. People are starting to notice that I've lost a bunch of weight, so I'm just telling them I am exercising more, avoiding carbs and generally trying to eat less. You don't owe anyone an explanation. What you've been telling them is just fine!

My BMI was 35 too, but I had a lot of co-morbidities associated with obesity. When people compliment my appearance, I steer them in the direction of my health--tell them how great that's going. Maybe you could do the same? Otherwise, maybe you could fess up in the form of a break-room letter or email to those in your immediate circle. OR Tell them when you had your hernia operation, your doc had a heart-to-heart with you about your weight, and that you are now in a supervised weight loss program.
Or finally, you could just let it go and let them continue to be fat and jealous.
    Best,
    Amy

Finally the count down has begun, less than 24 hours and I will be at the hospital for the gastric sleeve and hernia surgery. Ready for it to be over, jumped through a lot of hoops to get here. And the liquid diet for me was def a challenge, even though people say they had no problems doing it. I will admit it was extremely hard for me. Thanks to everyone on here, I dont post much but I do read a lot of the forums for ideas and information. I wouldnt be as confident if it wasnt for finding this site. Ill see yall on the other side!

I am so excited this morning! 101 lbs down since surgery! This was the best decision of my life, Even when I was getting adjusted to my new tummy, I have not had any regrets. I know I could not have done this on my own.

Its been 2 weeks since my paperwork has been submitted!! Congrats to you for getting approved so quickly. When I call insurance to check my status they act as if Im bothering them, but I so anxious to be approved, Ugh so annoyed at this point with this process! Happy for you and you getting a surgery date!! Awsome!

I can't believe it, but my dr. office sent the paperwork to Cigna on May 14th, and I have a letter dated March 21 with the approval!! I just found out about it today, as I've been out of state since the 15th. Although my BMI went down to 37.4, I have severe sleep apnea so I have a feeling that helped in the decision. Surgery is next Thursday, June 5th!

My paperwork was submitted today. I have Anthem BC/BS. I was told by my case organizer that they approve pretty quickly. Crossing my fingers. But, I'm trying my best not to think about it every single minute of the day. Very nervous and scared, but excited! Trying not to get my hopes up because I keep hearing stories about the insurance company coming back wanting more info or something. So, I guess I will just have to wait.

I just got call from a nurse with United Health Care wanting to do my surgical admissions counseling. He asked me when my surgery date is and I told him that I didn't have one yet. I was still waiting for approval from UHC. He told me that he would call me back in a couple of weeks and see if I have a date yet. I wonder if this means that the UHC might just be approving me, but he let it out of the bag early. Fingers and toes are all crossed. Feeling very hopeful.
