I'm sorry you feel so bad about your mistake. As you said yourself, we're all human. It's a rare person who never eats anything he/she regrets. Maybe if you are extra good to yourself for the next few days, say you exercise a little more diligently, or try a healthy activity that you didn't think you're capable of, then you can forgive yourself and move on.

Started Biotin in November, had sleeve November 18, 2013. Hair loss started April 2014. I cannot tell if there is new growth. I slowed down on washing/coloring, blowdrying my hair so as not to add more stress on it. I finally had to buy a wig as I am very fair and blonde and the loss is around my face. I bought a Gabor wig and get lots of compliments. I am very vain about my hair. I would say make sure you play around in a wig salon somewhere so you do not end up in a bind at some point. I could rant on and on, but I love my new self so I am making do. I hear now that Biotin only helps re-growth but I was not told this by anyone at surgery. I bought Toppik powder (read about it online). It does not work for me whatsoever. Thank God for my wig!

I think it is important to take emotion out of eating, including regret. This is not a diet this is your life and one bite is not going to derail all your hard work. I know it's hard when we have failed so many times at so many diets but what's different this time is you have an amazing tool helping you. You will be fine get back on the horse and let yourself be "human".

Thank you for organizing this. I would like to participate, as well. Although I usually don't set weight goals by date, this will help me focus when faced with summer temptations (bbq's, birthday parties, etc). My current weight is 181. My challenge goal is 163.

IcanMakeit reacted to gowalking in If you are asking for advice...
...don't come down on folks when they offer it.
Especially if you are new to the WLS experience and the vets respond to you. We see the same questions over and over and over again and we still take the time to answer you because we know that for you, it's the first time you are going through this.
It would be so easy for us vets to leave the forum and live our lives successfully but we stay here because we remember how it was at the beginning or if we see that you are struggling during the WLS journey....so we stay here and try to help. Please think about that if you don't like how we've responded. It's not because we know better....it's because we simply know more than you do right now. Respect that please.
We try so hard to be sympathetic when you screw up or ask questions that you already know the answers to...like I didn't lose 5 lbs. in one week, is this a stall? Or, I ate a bag of chips...did I do bad?
I've been on this forum for a year and a half and in that time, I've seen too many vets take a hike and it's often because they are rebuffed when they offer insights or even just their own personal experiences. If you want this forum to succeed, and if you personally want to succeed...be aware of what you say either on the forum or when you PM. Especially when you PM.
And one more thing. I didn't post this on Rants and Raves because it's not a rant. It's a request.

Well, I am looking forward to all of those things as posted above, but right now, being the summer temps here are always 90 and higher, I am REALLY looking forward to getting rid of this enormous, hot, miserable, twisted, tight, size 46DDD BRA!!!!

It has been so long since I've worn high heels that I don't even remember the last time. Come to think of it, it would be fun be able to wear high heels again. I guess I'll put that on my list of things to look forward to.

I love this post. Here are some little things I want to do:
Ride my bike to work without having to walk up the (pretty small) hills.
Get on the floor to play with my grandchildren without pains in my back, knees and hips.
Go shopping in the regular size section of a fashionable store, find something cute and then buy it because it fits.
Go to Disneyland and be able to ride on the rides without embarrassment.
Wear a bathing suit in public.

IcanMakeit got a reaction from tebowfan in Should I tell my boss I am having WLS or just say I need medical leave?
You do not owe anyone information about your personal health.
I did not tell my boss what kind of surgery I was having. The upside of this is that my privacy was preserved and I don't have to deal with uninformed commentary. The downside is that people are speculating and making incorrect guesses as to what my surgery entailed. However no one has asked me for clarification, so I'm ok with letting them wonder.
I'm 5 weeks post-op and have not experienced a dramatic weight loss. This makes it less obvious to everyone. My co-workers all know that I've been dieting since the beginning of the year and I lost a significant amount of weight before the surgery.

IcanMakeit reacted to NothingUpMySleeve in What is the real point of this surgery?
I still get hungry, but it's different. Before, after two weeks on an 800 cal diet, I'd be hungry and craving anything just to fill me up a little more.
Before, It was like the minute I went back to eating like "a normal person" the weight would just plop back on. Well, since the sleeve, I have easily eaten 600-800 calories a day and it's ok.
Now, my hunger message is like someone writing "Hey, I'm kinda hungry" on a post it note. Before it was like a marching band playing a hungry song and flying a banner saying "EAT NOW DAMMIT" while throwing Cheetos to the crowd.

IcanMakeit reacted to Kissifur in What is the real point of this surgery?
Per my Nut it takes 3-4 months to develop a habit. So for me the point of the surgery is to take the next 6 months of restrictions to learn new habits. Granted I am only one week out but I have learned that I have more control of what I eat then I ever thought before. Just because I crave it doesn't mean I have to eat it. My hope and plan is to emerge from this as someone who can sample a decadence and not eat every drop until it is a distance memory. I love your question because it made me really think. Success for me is not to diet the rest of my life but to develop a healthy, normal relationship with food.< /p>

IcanMakeit got a reaction from Nurseygirl in African American Sleevers
I have enjoyed reading all of the posts to this thread. I am a northern California AA woman who was sleeved on May 12. My surgery went well and there were no complications, except that H pylori was discovered during the surgery. (It didn't show up in the pre-op endoscopy.)
I started my weight-loss journey back in January and lost 42 pounds before the surgery. Since the surgery, I have only lost 8 pounds. I believe this is because I have so much difficulty drinking the Protein Shakes and Water that I'm supposed to. In the beginning, this was because of the nausea, that was exacerbated by the antibiotics that I was prescribed. And now, I just feel so darn full so fast. But I believe this will get better as well.
My surgeon recommends a four week full liquid diet. I have noticed from lurking here that many people have the full liquids for only two weeks. I guess that's a question I should've asked pre-op, Lol.

It's clear by the way you continuously use the word "lie" you have no idea how offensive you are being.
I'm an open person but I've kept this surgery to myself. Why? Because I have many more interesting characteristics than my weight. I don't care to talk about it 24/7. Period.
I've not "lied" to anyone nor do I plan to. I am not obligated to tell the world my personal business and I don't need to "lie" to maintain my privacy.

IcanMakeit reacted to pink dahlia in I Am So Angry When People Think Surgery Is The Easy Option!
The next time someone says your WLS was "the easy way out" , have them compare it with something like dental surgery or braces. They could have a mouthful of problems for the rest of their life, or they could have dental surgery or braces so that they could have a normal , healthy life . Which would they choose ?? Every single time they make a decision on ANYTHING, ask them if they chose the easy way or the hard way. Did choosing the "easy" way make them "lazy" ??? I dont think so ??? It takes hard work and dedication to make WLS work for anybody ! WLS is simply a tool, just like braces , etc. Good luck !

IcanMakeit got a reaction from hillgirly in What do you miss most after Weight Loss Surgery?
I'm still a newby, so this may be temporary, but at this point I really miss fresh vegetables. I was lucky enough to be raised in California and generally had fresh vegetables every day. I'm hoping when I'm fully healed, I'll be able to eat them again. I also agree with others about the Water. I'm thirsty all the time, but can't drink enough water in the time between meals. This too will probably ease up when I have adjusted.
