@@Jana64 I was saying that earlier! They are lucky I hadn't already started the liquid bc it's 2 weeks. lol I think it was an honest mistake, but if it happens again I'm gonna go into Babzilla mode I think bc it took it out of me today!

Good thread. I had a hip replacement and only had someone with me for a couple days. I fought hard to come back and figured out ways to scoop kitty litter and such. Now i live near family but they range from "if it's what you have decided" to "you're an idiot" so it's good I'm still a fighter.

They are lucky that you were nice to them. I think I would have been crying or angry. But I think it would be worse the closer the date was. I mean, how long is your pre-op liquid phase? Can you imagine if you had started that already?

Any advice on which vitamix to go with?
I started moving away from processed food a few years ago. Now with the surgery almost here I've given up fast food and soda. My grocery cart today was all veggies, fish, chicken and stuff to make Soup and chili. Yes i think i need this. I'm not a lean cuisine eater, i want real food.

YES! Especially if you want to learn to cook from scratch. Do the easy pay options on QVC.
Like @blondiebabs it's just me and the cat, but I have a kitechenaide mixer, a juicer, a kitchenaide food processor and a nutra bullet. As soon as I can swing the funds I'll be getting a vitamix. I cook mostly from scratch and it has changed my life and improved my health.

It was just my birthday and i was thinking of buying a vitamix. I am learning to cook more from scratch, hate to chop, love to do food prep ahead of time and freeze. Trying to talk myself into justifying the Vitamix. Surgery is within a month, it's just me - though i could get carried away and start making natural cat food. Do i take the leap?

My advice` get a really good vibrator because you'll want to take the edge off quickly and often for a while! I'm three years out and all I can say is thank heavens for my hitachi and I have a boyfriend!

I was blessed to have met someone selling their less than 2 year old Vitamix for a majorly discounted price because they decided they wanted a different color or something. Before I got it I was thinking about doing the QVC flex pay on one for a couple of months but couldn't bring myself to spend that much money on a blender, but now having one for the past few years and experienced it, I wouldn't feel bad making that kind of investment if something happened to this one.

@@BLERDgirl I've used my vitamix for everything from mincing cabbage for coleslaw then making the dressing for it, to making homemade hummus... it really is a great machine if you like to cook =D

    Just sharing:
Yesterday, the UPS delivery man brought boxes to my front door. I opened the garage door for him to stack them there, and he got to see me full-length.
He said (hesitantly, but with big eyes), " Are you...the same lady who's been living here?"
(I've lived in this house for 19 years)
    "Yes, it's me."
"Oh my God. You look fantastic! I would not have recognized you!" [eyes and mouth open wide in awe.]
I was actually wearing my old, oversized baggy (and raggedy) sweat pants and an old blouse (with a hole in it)--my 'cleaning the house' outfit. I held them out to show how baggy everything was, and said "I know I look a mess with this stuff on, but yea, 70 pounds gone," I said.
He said, "I can only imagine how you look with other stuff on because you look fabulous."
It was nice to hear that; and he obviously remembered me because he reminded me of some past deliveries he'd made to my home; he rememberd my line of work, etc.
'Twas a nice NSV on a rainy, foggy day.

@@KatieD6982 I got my surgery date on the same day the surgeon's office called me to tell me that my insurance had given the final approval. I had completed all of the insurance and hospital/surgeon's requirements. When they called she suggested the first date available which was Jan 19th but I asked for the 2nd week in Feb so I could give my work notice.

Goodwill, thrift, consignment. You can buy outfits that will flatter your figure, make you look and feel great and be gentle on your wallet for a few bucks if you shop smart.
    Enjoy the journey!

I live in Florida so I have a Little more variety of things that I can wear. I can put on tanks and a jacket. My jeans were all too tight anyways. I work at home and just purchased a weight lift set, exercise bike, and resistance band. I hope to get most of my workout at home. I do need to find something to do socially. I moved from Indiana and don't know anybody here. I get a little depressed now with staying in the house. I need to get out more because I heard WLS in itself can cause depression.

I'm cheap when it comes to jeans. I refuse to spend more than $10 on a pair of jeans right now. With tops, I am a little less careful of the price, because once they become too big, I can just give them to my mom.
