Thank you all! In regards to the Bachelorette parties, you're right, I need to focus on the positives...like Im going to look good in all the pictures and not have to worry about approving all pictures people post of me or having to tell them to take them down!lol....does anyone else do this??
When I think about saying goodbye to my comfort buddy (food), it does make me sad. But in oNE of the responses,I read that food only satisfies you temporarily, but that weight gone is forever!! I LOVE that and it has made a difference in my mindset. As well as thinking about all the things I'll be able to do that I can't now.
Thank you all truly. I am glad I downloaded this app last night. Looks like it was right at the moment I needed it.

@xmaleengyx Hopefully as it gets closer your anxiety will ease up, taking control of your health is so much more important. You will still be able to enjoy the bachelorette parties and make memories if you do not drink. You can even volunteer to be a designated driver if one is needed, otherwise you'll be the person with the steadiest pics and who will have the clearest memory to be able to poke at other later. Focus on the positive! The memories are more about being together and having a good time with your closest people than getting sloshed together. I have no clue what or how much people drank at my bachelorette party, I don't even think about that part, I've never thought about the drinking once, I just remember we had fun and getting drunk wasn't the catalyst to the fun. Becoming a healthier and better you is what is most important. =) You have plenty of life left to live, it'll be a blink of an eye and you'll be able to do the things you enjoy again.

Hello my surgery date is Feb 23, 2015. I am really excited to start this next chapter in my life but a little nervous at the same time. I find myself reading hours and hours on different topics or people’s stories. I just want to make sure I do things the right way.

OK, unless you're related to that stretchy rubber guy on "FantasticFour" the after shots are not going to be pretty.
But that is fixable. But you will be healthy.....an obviously much more important priority, right?

Almost four months out and no regrets. There were a few fleeting seconds when I was jealous of others pigging out over Christmas, but the fact that over 60 pounds are gone forever is worth it. I had one piece of chocolate at Thanksgiving (which is all I wanted), and fresh strawberries at Christmas.
That and the satisfaction of clearing my closet all the way down to the smallest sizes. Charity got eight big big bags of clothes. And I went shopping and now own really cute bras for the first time!
Who knew how fun that would be! I have a secret smile because I know I am wearing cute underwear. No regrets. food and drink is a moment's pleasure, but weight gone is forever.

I can drink socially now a year out... Just be aware that it hits you much more quickly so be careful and it's not something you want to do on a regular basis. Also I can now eat anything anyone else eats, just way less. It is more than worth the effort of surgery, recovery, adjusted eating, Vitamins, etc etc etc.... I know some people do have aversions to certain foods post op, but they make it work by discovering new options. The only regrets I have ever seen are those with complications and even then further out most say they would still do it all over again. You can always set a date and if you aren't absolutely certain when it rolls around, cancel or postpone it. If you have the opportunity to set a date, take it! Others on here would mame and kill for your opportunity to be that close lol
As far as a catheter goes I never had one, and I believe it isn't common practice. If they do it goes in while you are under and it is uncomfortable to remove but because they want you up and walking very soon after surgery the likelihood of needing one is next to zero.. They only do them for those who are unable to get up to use the washroom with or without help.
The first week of recovery sucks, expect that. As long as you did your research on your doctor, trust your team. VSG they parallel to having your gall bladder removed, same stats ish lol...

I think you will do fine. To me, this was an easy surgery. My husband took me to the hospital and brought me home, but he worked the rest of the time. He doesn't cook, so by day after coming home, I was cooking for him, and 1 week after was Christmas, I had help from my daughter Christmas but i shopped for groceries and still cooked a big Christmas dinner, and did light housekeeping. I'm really independent and didn't ask for help unless I really couldn't reach something. I actually was happiest when everyone exited the house in the morning and left me alone. Lol I was embarrassed to have to ask a sales clerk to pick something up I dropped...I don't know if it was a mental block but I stared at it...bent over to pick it up and nah...not going there yet...so asked for help...hurt my pride a bit but she was very gracious and probably wondered why this idiot was out shopping after surgery but I looked at it as exercise. I did a lot of walking in stores and didn't have a driving restriction if I wasn't taking pain meds. I think I would actually prefer to be alone after surgery with someone checking in occasionally...that sounds peaceful.

@@Bexsta everyone has different taste buds and it's ok to not like yogurt. I don't think you have to force yourself to eat it unless you just super want to eat yogurt. There are plenty of other nutrient rich foods with Protein out there that you will love, and you can always get Probiotics in other methods. =)

My insurance says in their handbook that they do not cover any kind of weight loss surgery, when you call them they say they do not cover weight loss surgery and even tried to talk me out of it, however the hospital where mine is being done was able to get preapproval based on if medical necessity could be proven and I met all the criteria then I would be eligible for it. So I did their 6 month diet, and had my dr sign a letter stating medical necessity and they approved it. They may have a similar "hidden" clause.

My surgeon's office called and told me I needed to reschedule because they had a "scheduling conflict"... so now my new date is Feb 16th. I'm a bit disappointed and a lot annoyed I have to ask other people to change their plans for me if they can... but on the bright side I won't be getting surgery in the middle of Mercury Retrograde now (a bit of astrology humor).

The short one is the "under the cabinet" version. I suggest no matter what model you end up with, just make sure to get the variable speed models. =)

I loooooove my Vitamix. Expensive, but depending on how much you use your blender and for what (e.g., raw veggies, etc), it's well worth the extra cost!

I love my Vitamix! I have the professional one, too. Makes Soups and smoothies and nut butters and on and on. However, it's a lot of money if you don't cook a lot or want to make things like that.

I have a friend in RI that did it on her own, lived on the third floor of a house with a steep winding stairway. It's mostly being as prepared as possible up front! We'll probably go about the same time. We are strong and can do this!
