Can I create a private email thread with the ten or twenty people who were regular at chat or is the function limited to one person?

We used to have a chat board here on Bariatric Pal. Many of us used to participate, but Alex got rid of it because he didn't see it was being used to his expectations...suggest to send a note to Alex and ask for it to be restored.
I can relate to what you're feeling. I was sleeved in September and I am now only 11 pounds from my target, but anxious to keep the momentum.

I'm surprised you're doing that much exercise this early. Most docs that I've heard about recommend only walking programs until 6 weeks out. I agree with everyone about the low carb vs. low fat. Generally, low fat foods are higher in carbs. Here is a great article that breaks down where our calories come from.
This will help understand why something low-fat is higher carb.

Also, it looks like you're averaging a little over 3 pounds a week. That's no small feat and you should be proud. Compared to a lot of people on here you're starting weight isn't that high. That's why you shouldn't compare your weight loss with others. The more you have to lose, the faster you lose. In one month you've lost 14% of your excess body weight (based on your starting & goal weights). THAT'S AMAZING!!! Pat yourself on the back. If you really want to compare, at 4 weeks out, I had lost 16% of my excess body fat since surgery. For me that was about 25 pounds. See how comparing does no good? This is your journey and you're already off to a great start. If you're mom is asking you everyday how much you've lost (my mom does this), just stop telling her a number. She'll get the hint. You're body is still healing so just stick with the program and focus on that. Make sure you get your fluids and if you can, your Protein. Good luck to you! We're proud of you

First, anytime you are referring to weight from here on out, remove the word "only" from your vocabulary. ANY weight lost is a victory and success. Celebrate it! Second, you shouldn't listen or care what other people think. Even your mom. Easier said than done, I know. But this is YOUR journey and you cannot make your body lose faster than it already is as long as you are following the rules. Third, you will hit multiple stalls and you need to be mentally prepared for that. I'm 4 1/2 months post op and I just had my first week where I GAINED weight. I didn't cry. I didn't freak out. Why? I had been out of town all week and did a horrible job of getting my fluids in.
Also, at your stage I was still battling extreme fatigue, depression and figuring out how to get calories in. The few calories you're eating combined with the level of working out you're doing could cause slower weight loss. I would recommend going back to your team and asking about your diet and exercise. I personally did very low carb the first 3 months then my doctor had me add some healthy carbs in.
Keep your chin up and take it day by day. You'll make it to your goal. But it won't happen over just one month.

Forgot to post last week...I went up for the first week in the last month to 243 and I am down to 239 this week...I am changing mobile phone from the iPhone where I use the Healthy Clouds application to track my weight to the Android...any suggestions on moving the data over would be appreciated since Healthy Clouds is not supported on the Android and I need a new app.

245 pounds...goal achieved with 2 ounces to spare! I won't be setting as aggressive goal for the next challenge. Rate of loss is slowing with each successive challenge.

facorsig got a reaction from taweedeegirl in if I lose weight during the six-month period and fall below my BMI will my surgery be approved
Each insurance company has their own rules. I gained three pounds and was approved. I think Aetna sets an expectation not to gain five or more pounds. The whole weight loss as a condition for insurance approval is a lark created by the insurance companies. My surgery was nothing short of a spectacular success even though I did not lose weight during the four month period I was required to wait.

I have been in this situation before where and old "friend" wants to have lunch/coffee whatever, and even though it may be harmless, I always put myself in my husbands shoes. How would I feel if he went out to lunch/coffee with and old "friend". I would be so freakin jealous so I just have never let myself in that situation and neither has he.
Good luck with your decision. That's just my 2 cents worth!!

Today marks four months for me....crossed 100# of loss and still continuing to move toward my goal. Certainly, dietary changes were imposed somewhat with the surgery, but my pick-up in fitness activity has been dramatic. I rode my bicycle for first time in about 25 years on Saturday and I've committed to ride in MS150.
PM me if you want to support the MS150 charity and my attempt to ride 170 miles over two days in April!

I have met a lot of people on this chat and I hate to see that end. I go in and out all day long. A lot of people don't know it's there because you don't really make it obvious. The last time you moved the chat to a different location on the site you didn't let us know and we lost a lot of regulars. I vote to keep the chat. It is much nicer to chat with someone then to have to go to the forums and keep waiting for an answer.

facorsig got a reaction from BeagleLover in Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!
Eating Greek yogurt is one of the topics I share with others about this lifestyle. I started to eat Greek yogurt on the advice of a health coach about two weeks before my pre-op diet. I detested it. I mixed in chocolate Protein powder, but the sourness was strong and it was like gagging with every spoon. After a month, I stopped gagging, but really hated it. I found I had tried so many brands hoping to find the one.....and I did.....Lucerne. It is the cheapest plain Greek yogurt. I had tried organic ones and ones with bigger brands or better packaging. I think Lucerne is a local, Texas brand. I must say while I don't like plain Greek yogurt, it has become a staple. I attribute some reductions in flatulence volume and toxicity to the yogurt (sorry if this is TMI). It remains on my doctor prescribed diet even after the Protein Powder and so many other things have gone away. I go through a 2# tub each week for $3.45. I don't shop at chains other than Randall's because other chains don't sell this brand. To me, it was part of the lifestyle change I needed to make, and I made it successful.
