Every now and then I switch out my signature at the bottom of my posts. When I came across this quote by Thomas Edison, I immediately thought of our struggles with stalls. Here is my new signature for a while:
Here is how I feel about all the different things we do to break stalls:
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." Thomas Edison

Awesome Cupcake!!! Well done... I like your plan I'm 17 weeks post op & stalling bigtime! I'm going back to the basics! I have both those Premier Protein shakes & just bought pure Protein Bars for the 1st time last week! Yummy I think I may need to lay off of the low carb cheese! And kick up my cardio a notch!
    Thank you for sharing ...

Stall is over Im happy to report that I drop 11 pounds in 1 week, I spoke with my nutritionist and she advised me to ensure that I get in all of my Water and Protein and exercise at least 30 minutes to 45 minutes a day or walk for the same amount of time I have been during this since Monday and I have noticed that I have more energy as well as I am eating now every 2-3 hours small meal to ensure that i am getting all of my Protein in. I have one premiere Protein shake and one Protein Bar every day which equals 50 grams of protein then I eat fish or tune or chicken for the remaining protein in which it ends up being my lunch. I want something else in the day i eat a sugarfree popsickle. Hopes this helps someone.

Hi All. I was sleeved June 11th, 8 weeks and down a total of 35 including 2 week pre-op. I hit the dreaded 3 week stall and have hit another stall that has lasted 2 weeks. I have upped Protein, added a few more carbs & nothing!!!! I am doing 30 minutes of cardio and 30 mins of weights 4 days a week. I just don't understand how we can stall so much with as little as we are eating and burning calories.
Oh well, don't have a choice but to wait it out. Good Luck to everyone. Love reading your posts

Every pound lost is a victory. We didn't pack the weight on in one month, one year, or for some us the weight took a few decades to pile on.
For many of us being able to loss anything, and keeping it off, is a victory. So what if it takes longer... some folks are fast losers, others have to fight hard to shed each and every pound. We are NOT in contest. Our progress is based on our individual achievements, not on what someone else does or doesn't reach.
I have to exercise, and I have to fight to lose weight... but going to the gym makes me feel healthier, and I can see progress, even if it much slower than I'd like it to be. Where I am now is light years ahead of where I was two years ago...
I see you lost 55 pounds... it took me almost two years to lose over 60 pounds... but I feel much better, and my mental outlook is much more positive. Celebrate your victories, don't turn them into being a defeat.

I was losing so slowly after surgery (only 11 pounds in 6 weeks) and I thought I was doing everything right. On my follow-up appointment I asked the doctor about it. My problem is the carbs. I was staying away from sugar and obvious carbs like bread, Pasta, crackers, etc. but I didn't realize how many carbs were in the 0 fat milk I was adding to my Protein powder, the powder itself had carbs, the cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese. When I started adding it up I guess it was a lot of % compared to the amount of calories I was taking in. I only eat about 500-600 calories a day most days but getting all the Protein and fluids. I just didn't get it. I changed the Protein Powder to MaxPro, stopped snacking at all, cut out the milk and carbs. I immediately lost 4 pounds within 2 days. I have a shake for Breakfast, eat protein only for lunch and dinner, and if I do get hungry or need a snack, I make a shake. If my protein for the day is low, I have a shake to make up the difference anyway. It's only been a week but I lost more in 4 days than I did in 4 weeks before.

My first stall after, two weeks after surgery, lasted for two weeks. I lost six pounds after that and now I am in another stall. I've never found it this hard to lose in the past and it is confusing no matter how many blogs, articles and books I read. My surgery was on 6/16. I'm trying to accept in my head that these stalls are normal, but it sure is hard.

I hit that stall for WEEKS. I think I finally broke through, since posting about my stall I've lost 3 pounds (in a week).
My stall lasted for exactly two weeks. I read and read and read others stories to find comfort. The stall is very common and everyone kept saying 'this will pass, hang in there, this works'. But I was mad and assumed I was different, I cannot lose weight like others can. Nobody understands my body. I had a little pity party.
So I will say this: this will pass, hang in there, this WORKS! I get it now, that scale will move.
I'm eating differently than you guys though. I have a Protein shake everyday but I kinda eat what I want now as long as it's soft. No fried, crunchy, sweets, or red meat/pork. When I do eat I get a really small bowl and eat sloooooowly. I have 3 pieces of sushi and I'm done.
Can you guys feel the food going down? This is new to me. I actually feel it hit my stomach too. After a few bites I'm like 'whoa!, that's it for me!'.
I'm getting around 700 - 900 calories a day and about 70 grams of Protein. I'm NOT drinking the amount of Water I should. And I'm not exercising however tomorrow I'm going to start the C25K app.

Thank you MommaCEO for the 200 lb. issue. Maybe that is my problem. I'm at 202 right now and holding steady. Although for a fleeting moment, I was 200.9. That was such a great day.........
Yes, the stall is still here. No weight loss in 12 days except for a 1 pound weight GAIN.
Lots of others have experienced the same thing, from what I'm reading. And from what I see, the stall can last a week or two.
Here is an article I found while obsessively looking for others who have stalled. I thought this was interesting...

Ok, when you're checking daily, it's gonna drive you nuts. I can gain a pound taking extra breaths of air and lose one walking to the mailbox.
Better to check once a week or every few days. Stick with your plan and concentrate on the long term totals.

Jealbaroma reacted to Travelmego in Suggestion: Can we have a "Stalls" subforum?
I think having a stalls forum would serve two good purposes:
    1. It would collect information about stalls in one location so people in a stall can find ideas to break them. It would be very easy for them to converse with other people in the same situation and be comforted that it is not just them.
    2. It would allow those not in a stall to have a break from stall talk. Ohhh! That's a perfect name "Stall talk" < I'm a genius.

I suggest making a sub-forum just for people to talk about stalls. It is a big issue that constantly comes up everywhere.

Proof of not being discouraged by stalls.
Congrats. I have a tad over 7 until onederland.
Don't be surprised if trying to go under 200 is hard. When I lost about 40 pounds a few years ago and went down to 185, getting under 200 took quite awhile.

I was sleeved on Monday (23rd June). So am behind most of you ladies. I am only on day 3 of full liquids.
    Pre surgery weight was: 182kg
    Surgery Day Weight: 161kg
No weight measured till next Friday, but I too am not expecting massive losses, just a loss is better than nothing.
My surgeon & dietitian have a very strict program for food. 3 weeks liquid, 4 weeks purée, 4 weeks soft food. And even then the liquid phase is graduated, so I have to have 98g of Protein every day. But for the first two days I could only have 50ml per half hour, today it's 80ml per half hour, and it progresses up each day.
My day is a series of Optifast shakes with added protein (Beneprotein), lucky it's winter here in Australia & I don't need to add much Water for hydration on top of these, because it's a full time gig currently, I feel like atom Cruise in cocktail mixing up drinks left, right & centre.

I hear ya! I'm on a two day stall right now. It actually says I went up half a pound, which as you all know, we are only eating enough to sustain a small lizard, so I know it's not from over eating!
How many calories is everyone eating? I think I'm too low. Looking to compare notes! I'm super struggling to get above 600.

i'm glad I'm not the only one. Shiner86 I'm right with you. Lost 12 pounds the first week (ahhhh, memories.....) then nada. And here is week 3 and I'm STILL waiting for the scale to move.
Oh, pardon me, it did move! I've gained .5 pounds.
And I'm eating enough to sustain a small reptile.
I've heard it all, body adjusting to surgery, starvation mode (referring to food gathering days as a caveman).
So I've come to this conclusion: I'm a post-op, caveman who eats like a lizard.
    Yaaaaaaaay me!
Thanks guys for keeping this topic going. Hey, while we lose weight (NOT!) we can at least laugh about it??? And we all know we will but in the meantime this kinda sucks.

I track everyday on myfitnesspal. purée stage going well, will move to mushy/soft next week. How are the rest of the June 9th folks doing?

Jeallbaroma - 201 is probably a big set point for you. A few ago when I lost a ton of weight 200 was super hard to pass. Try changing up the exercise if you can.
    Start 230
    At sx 218
    Now 208
Started food and loving it. My NuT doesn't do puréed. I can have lunch meat, cheese, cottage cheese, yourgurt, Beans. I love having food again but it's hard to tell when I'm not longer hungry versus over fulling "tool". Yes, I named my tummy "tool".

Glad to hear everyone is doing well! Im not sure how, but I'm 18 pounds down since surgery. I have a ton to lose, so I'm sure that's why the number is up there.
Highest Weight: 332 (in March at my first appointment with the surgeon)
    Surgery Weight: 285 (June 9th)
    Current Weight: 267
Goal Weight: 165 (my doctor's goal is 185)
I know this pace won't keep up, but for now, I AM SO EXCITED!
Today is my first day of puréed foods! Bring on the cottage cheese!
