I know how you feel about the clothes. Over the years because I've been a yo-yo dieter, I literally have a bunch of clothes for every size from a size 6 to size 16. I'll be alright for a little while. From year to year, I never knew what size I'd be so I just kept all my clothes.

I was constantly on a diet so often times I call myself going to salad bars where you pay per pound. I like all the different selections so I always wanted a little of this and that and well, my eyes are bigger than my stomach so I always overdid it and end up paying over $10.00 for lunch. Well when I am on solid foods after surgery, I can't wait to be able to go to a salad bar and get very little and be satisfied. I always admired the people who get the small containers and have very little in them. I can't wait for that to be me. lol

Just wanted to chime in about weight gain/weight loss since being sleeved. I was sleeved April 2013 (now over a year and a half out) and I'm still losing slowly but surely. I started at 306.5. Currently at 200 lbs. I'm 5'7", 28 years old, wearing L shirts and size 12 pants are getting big. I don't drink soda (never ever -- people that say "oh I leave it out and let it go flat first"-- that's stupid, I'm sorry. Don't do it), I get my Water in, I'm not great with Vitamins but my bloodwork looks great so I'm not worried about it (although I do keep up with my Calcium and D3), and I try to eat balanced meals (not ALL Protein, but a healthy balance while still focusing on that protein). I've had small fluctuations in weight along the way (a couple pounds here and there) and I don't always make the best choices as far as food goes, but you've just got to put everything in perspective -- if you've made it to a certain pant size, do you really want to go back up in size? You've gone through a major surgery and major lifestyle change for this weight loss -- do you really want to throw that away? Hang in there, if you're in the first six months or year DO NOT STRESS about any fluctuations, your body is just trying to figure out what's going on. You'll be fine, just follow your surgeon's plan and get that water in!

@@sleeve 4 me. I am 10 months out and at my lowest weight (-100 pounds and 12 pounds below goal) But here are my weight "gains" since VSG....
Gained at least 5 pounds immediately post op. Took 11 days to get back to my surgery day weight.
Gained 3 pounds at 6 weeks out for no apparent reason, stalled for a month and then continued to lose.
Gained 11 pounds in 1 day at 2 1/2 months out after receiving IV fluids when I was severely dehydrated from diarrhea due to a clostridium infection.
Gained 4 pounds on vacation at 9 1/2 months out. (Probably Water weight from all the alcohol I drank) Dropped those 4 pounds plus 1 extra within 10 days of returning home.
Not sure if this is what you were looking for.

I was sleeved Tuesday so this is my second day. After the week on Clear Liquids pre-surgery, I was shocked to see I had gained 4 pounds. Now two days after surgery I have gained 10! Is this normal? My hands are very swollen and I really feel awful. I guess I expected the pain, but gaining 10 pounds. I haven't eaten anything except Water and broth. So what is happening?

I have to say, I read this thread back when I was still pre-op and it scared the crap out of me and nearly convinced me not to go through with the surgery. Thank God I did. Now 13 months post op I haven't regretted it. Now that I'm pretty much at goal weight, the struggle is real, for sure. I actually just wrote a blog post on this topic yesterday and how the real work really starts when the first year or so is over and you realize that you STILL have to work at it and your weight loss problems didn't solve themselves. But with that being said, while I bounce around between the same 3 or 4 pounds up and down now depending on Water weight, time of month, etc. I've been maintaining with careful watch of what I am eating, sticking to the basics as far as Protein, water, and carbs, and exercising.
So if there are any pre-op peeps reading this and getting scared crapless after reading through it like I was, don't get discouraged! Does the sleeve help you lose a lot of weight quickly, YES! Does it keep it off in the long run? NO. But you do, your choices, and your strategy of using your "tool" - the sleeve - long-term and your daily lifestyle changes.
    Just my two-cents.

What Daisy said.... I gained 22 at one point, and really had to search around to find something that worked for me. Don't let your feelings get in the way of your success... you can do it! A few of us used the 5:2, and I still use it to keep on track 1-2 days a week. Find info in the Vets forum if interested. Best of luck.

Join us in the veterans forum. There are a lot of us who are fighting weight gain after being sleeved awhile.
You can do it. You need motivation from the rest of us. There is also a maintenance thread in there. It helps to be accountable. I am working on 10 right now.

I definitely can eat a full restaurant meal and feel hungry again an hour or two later. I do spare carbs and eat Protein first. Do not drink during or closely after eating. No liquid with calories. Crave 'fudge' 40 cal ice pops. Try to snack on string cheese and nuts. ALWAYS HUNGRY thats how I was b4 the sleeve. I weighed 428 and am now at 192-95. Lowest was 188 in july. Yes i work out religiously and walk the doggie. I know the struggle is constant but I did NOT expect to be thinking abt food every minute. Its boring!

I am now 5 1/2 years out and still at my original goal of 135 at 5'7. I've gone through menopause in the last 2 years and no change in weight. I have exercised religiously for many many years now and watch what I eat like a hawk. That's truly what it takes. So in January I'll be 6 years out and no doubt still rocking my size 4 jeans!

    Hi Everyone :-)
Today is my 4 year anniversary. I was the one that originally asked the question about weight gain after surgery. Well I'm here to tell you that you can definitely GAIN WEIGHT BACK and not just a few pounds.
Although I'm very content and blessed to be wearing a size 8 today I was actually wearing some size 4's years ago. And was a perfect size 6 for over 3 years.
My goal weight was to reach 150 lbs. (a normal BMI weight for me). I got as low as 144 lbs. Today 4 years out I weigh 165 lbs. I have reached as high as 170 lbs. during my period.
The sleeve is a PHENOMENAL tool and 4 years out I STILL have amazing restriction. The weight gain is from not eating properly, PERIOD. For the MOST part I'm still making pretty good choices, but obviously there are choices that haven't been all that great to gain all this weight back.
I know age has something to do with it as well. I am 46 going on 47 and lots of changes going on lol. BUT NO EXCUSES for sure.
Again I'm content and watching my weight pretty closely now to make sure I don't gain any more weight and would love to be back to 150-155 lbs. I know it's possible for sure.
I'm so thankful for my sleevie.

I did a similar type program. it was GREAT and super easy. I remember being able to run for 15 or 18 minutes nonstop and being completely shocked. Now I run 10k almost every week and have competed in several organized running events. The app I used was called "Ease into 5k" which is similar.
