    Self pay Lap-Banders- HELP!!!

that is a lot of what we eat now (as a family) i do keep the fruit and veggies around as my dh and son are both healthy, and love fruits and veggies but i always tend to opt for the bad stuff or nothing at all. i need to buy organic fruit because i cannot stand the taste of pesticide on my apples..yuck!! i wash them really well and i swear i can still tast it. i've ready that a LOT of people cannot tolerate beef very well, and that will suck if that is the case for me, because that is what we eat the most. my dh is definately and steak and potatoes man (and as fit as he can be) i hope to save money on prescriptions and i was recently diagnosed with chronic pain. also, i tend to miss work once a week for being ill (migraines, pains, etc), hopefully weight loss will help with that problem So would both of you go through it and do it again? It was worth the cost?

    Self pay Lap-Banders- HELP!!!

So for you the surgery has actually been more costly. We are going to have to follow a tight budget which we haven't really done before. they didn't tell you that you would have to pay the anesthesia bill? Actually, my doctor didn't tell me either. I better check on that. My cost is $16,275 which include pre op consult and one year of fills and post op care. they are normally outpatient but i may be staying the night in the hospital due to a late procedure and that is not supposed to cost extra.

new October Bandster (young, lower BMI, and afraid)

i have had one child, but i lost all of my weight and the skin after pregnancy. i was still a little heavy, but i was happy with myself, i was "curvy" now i'm "rolly". i nursed for 2 years and that helped with the weight for a long time, i also played tennis, then i stopped everything at once, had gallbladder surgery, started birth control, and started a horrible marriage in the same 2 weeks. my body went crazy and i have never been able to get it back. i'm ready now though.

new October Bandster (young, lower BMI, and afraid)

i do not have to do a liquid diet because of my bmi. my doctor's office only requires them if you bmi is 45 or above. mine is 41. i'm kind of glad, i get a couple of weeks to say goodbye to my foods and a little bit longer for will power. i'm also kind of sad because i would lose more weight if i did the liquid diet. i'm having my surgery here in arkansas, i am a self pay patient also, by the time i pay this off, i probably won't want to pay for any other surgery i considered Mexico but i decided to have it local.
  7. thanks you guys. i guess i have kind of been in denial about actually letting myself get this heavy. I've only been heavy (morbidly) for about 4 years. It just scares me when i think about all of the damage that i have done to my body. then to think that i can lose all the weight and then have something else about myself that i don't like....i don't know. i guess we all have things that we don't like about ourselves. i'm still scheduled and i'm not changing it. i want to live to old age and i am tired of being sick and tired. I'm hope that i am like you on the un hungry thing. that will make the first 4 weeks go by quickly
  8. Hi, I'm new to this whole thing. My husband and I had been talking about this procedure for quite some time but did not go forward due to no coverage from insurance. We finally decided that the cost is worth it for my health. I'm 25 and I already have high BP, high cholest, etc., etc. I just decided last week to go forward and now I am already scheduled for the procedure October 18th (LESS THAN 3 WEEKS AWAY!!!). I'm wondering if there is anyone out there with the same type of situation. I am seriously afraid of skin. I have been heavy for about 4 years, I am 25 and i have a BMI of 41. Anything anyone has to help ease some of my worries will help. I have done a lot of research and i have read posts on here for several days. I'm scared I'm going to starve to death on the liquid diet and having to cook for DH and son will make it worse. The whole loose skin really frightens me, ironically more than band slippage or erosion, etc.
