  1. I'm 3 weeks post op and hosting a bunch of family who don't know I had the surgery. We'll suffer through this together. Remember, it's just one day, and you know that this year you're not putting on a ton of weight from eating too much. This might be my first Thanksgiving without next-morning guilt! Good luck!
  2. Any other late October / early November sleevers out there who want to check in? How are you doing? When was your surgery date? What's going on in your sleeved life right now? My date was October 31. I am doing ok. Still really feeling the restriction and having a lot of pain when I eat to fast or don't chew my food well enough. My doctor fast tracks his healthy patients to real food, so I've been on soft/purees for a week and am moving to regular food. Most of the time it goes pretty well. I am learning what I can and can't tolerate. Weight loss is good -- down 15 lbs since surgery for a total of 35 lbs down since my first day of pre-op. I am fearfully awaiting the 3 week stall. I really want a loss of 20 lbs for my first month, but I think I won't get it. This Friday marks my 3rd week post-op. Any issues? Concerns? Cheers? I went below my pre-pregnancy weight this week! I am beyond thrilled. Still can't get into my pre-pregnancy jeans, tho. That's all for now! Hope to hear from everyone soon!
  3. I never forget to take my PPI. My chest reminds me every single morning that it's time to take it. I'm more than 3 weeks out and only have a week's supply left. I'm pretty sure I'll need more when I run out next week, and my next dr. appt isn't until December 12. What I'm wondering is if the heartburn gets better over time as your body adjusts to the sleeve, or if I'll need to take a PPI forever. Do most people go off the PPIs eventually? Should I contact my doctor's office pronto about refilling the prescription?
  4. 3 weeks post-op, and I've lost 8 (EIGHT!!) inches from my waist since the first day of my pre-op diet. WOOO HOOOO!
  5. I am 3 weeks post-op, almost 40 lbs down, lost 8 inches from my waist and 4 from my hips. No one who doesn't know I had the surgery has noticed or said anything. It's kind of disappointing. I have, however, gotten about 25 compliments on my not new coat. I wonder if people just notice I look better but can't put their finger on what it is? How much did you lose before people who didn't know you'd had the surgery noticed that you were losing weight?
  6. @@scrapbasket , the 37 lbs includes the weight I lost pre-op. I didn't lose 37# in 3 weeks!

    Can't stop losing weight

I think you should continue to confront this, talk about it with your friends and family, and with your psych to handle this. You don't want to become a full-blown anorexic. Listen to your family and your partner. They will only want what's best for you, and they may be able to see things more clearly than you can, having that little bit of distance. Trust them. Good luck. <3
  8. @@nprcowboy Hang in there! I'm only a few days farther along than you, but when I was researching the surgery, I read the forums for months, and noticed that no one more than 6 weeks out ever had anything negative to say / regrets about surgery. I am still struggling at 3 weeks out and learning how to eat with a sleeve. I don't regret it, but I do have some pretty horrible moments. I'm hoping that by 6 weeks, I'll have the hang of it and be feeling better. I'm having more hunger than I expected, too. I think it's mostly head hunger, and drinking Water helps (while also helping me get my 64 oz in. I'm sorry you're struggling. Talk to your doctor, give it time, and good luck!
  9. I'm 3 weeks post op and ate some sjreded meat today (ok per my doctor). 10 minutes later I felt really horrible, and the pain stuck around for about 10 minutes. I also did a lot of spitting and felt nauseated. Then I retched a few times, and ultimately threw up some clear goo. Should I be worried that I damaged my stomach or sleeve? This seemed a lot worse than just sliming. Has this happened to anyone else?
  10. I'm now 3 weeks. post op and really missing coffee. Will I ever be able to have it again?
  11. Shredded meat. Sorry. Typing on my phone.
  12. I was on my period at surgery time and used a diva cup / menstrual cup. I know that grosses some people out, but for me it worked great. I didn't have a catheter.
  13. I'm just about 3 weeks out of surgery, and thinking of switching to only weighing monthly. I don't want to become obsessive about the number on the scale and I don't want to constantly be trying to change how I eat / exercise just because I'm not losing as fast as I think I should. I want to do what my doctor told me to do and let that be the end of it. My question is, does anyone else do this? Has anyone else done it from this early in the process? Is it doable, or will I most likely just go crazy and weigh every day anyway? If you weigh monthly, are you happy with that? Are your losses still normal / good?
  14. It seems low. Is this normal? How much can I expect to lose the first month? (I know everyone is different, etc., but only 10 lbs the first 2 weeks seems like not very much)

  16. So, what do you eat everyday? I am weaning off liquids and moving to solids. If I get Protein, I seem to also get a lot of fat. So I'm wondering, what kind of foods do you eat to keep the calories and fat low, but the protein high? Any tips would be great! Thanks!

    ONEDERLAND!

    That is AMAZING! Congratulations!!!
  18. At my highest weight, I was about 35 lbs up from my pre-pregnancy weight. While pregnant, I gained 45 lbs, and was only able to lose 10 lbs (8 of it was the baby). Today I stepped on the scale, only 2.5 weeks out of surgery, and saw my (highest) pre-pregnancy weight! Another 10-20 lbs and I'll be in my "normal" pre-pregnancy weight range. This is amazing! I tried and tried to lose on my own, and never even got close. I thought I'd never see that number again. I am just beyond thrilled and had to crow about it! Wheeeeeeeee!
  19. @@proudgrammy SV is a scale victory! But I like sexy velvet, too!
  20. PS It seems like I lost at this rate on the pre-op diet. That's why I thought surgery would make the weight drop off faster.
  21. I got sleeved on Halloween, and over the past few days I've been having terrible heartburn. Mio seems to exacerbate the problem, but I can't drink plain Water without feeling sick. This is causing me problems in getting in all my water every day. Did anyone else have post-op heartburn? It's keeping me up at night and is just plain annoying. Is there anything I can do short of going on some kind of prescription? I'm using Tums now but they're not super helpful. Thanks in advance!
  22. I haven't pooped in about a week! What can I do? I am pretty newly post-op so I don't want to do anything extreme. Anyone else deal with this? What did you do to get things moving, so to speak?
  23. I bought some at Trader Joe's today, and they're horse pills, and you have to take 3 a day. Unacceptable! Ideas, please and thanks!
  24. I did Milk of Magnesia today, and HOLY MOLY did it ever work. Thanks for all the advice, everyone!
