Healthy_life2 got a reaction from Ready 4slim in NSV shout outs
    Resurrecting this NSV thread.
I’m grateful for moments when my inner obese woman kicks a fit person’s butt.
Yesterday, I ran the same track with 22 army recruits. Drill sergeants yelling out times as they passed. (2 mile run requirement) The recruits went on to complete the rest of their testing (push up’s sit ups etc.). I continued to run.
Half our later, sergeant’s and recruits came back to run the track after testing. This former obese woman outran them.

    Hi Shawna,
Are you pre or post op?
This is only from my experience and information from my dietitian.
Protein Shakes, bars, bariatic store processed food supplements are for first stages when you can't eat enough food to hit your protein goal. My dietitian does not want patients dependent on protein shakes, bars or bariatric store products long term. Once you can hit your protein goal with real food there is no need for shakes etc...
My hunger is not satisfied with protein shakes or add Water meals. they are slider foods. They easily break down and slide through your new stomach. Real whole food keeps my hunger under control.
All of us are busy. Some of us use a day off work to meal prep. Below is a link to the low to no cook thread for meal ideas.

@creekimp13 I must be missing something. I've seen many food confessions. Most of us have been honest about bad days and food choices.
Some people have a fabulous metabolism. They can work a more moderate or slack program and still lose or maintain weight. Some have more risk factors for weight gain, They may have to follow a strict program.
Years out, I don't think anyone cares how I eat.

Healthy_life2 got a reaction from lizonaplane in Maintenance?? Is it really possible?
Many of us had pre surgery anxiety. It made me question if this would work. I don't regret my decision to have WLS.
My experience six years out, maintaining has been easier after surgery. It's work to change old behaviors and making healthy choices a long term habit. I maintain a ten pound weight fluctuation up and down the scale. Years out, working off a gain is painfully slow.

Healthy_life2 got a reaction from mandya84 in Is anyone angry about food?
Welcome to the WLS mental battles. It’s ok to be angry. Many of us start with some buyer’s remorse. First food stages made me a bit hungry and angry. things got better with real food stage.
Focus on the scale moving with your healthy choices. Keep your eyes on your short- and long-term goals. Recognize when food addiction is talking to you. Noting taste as good as weight loss:-)
(make sure food suggestions are on your plan) (make sure they fit your calories and macros for the day)
I like how it was said above. It’s what you can eat. bariatrics should not be torture. Food should be long term sustainable.
Real food stage nutrition should be flavorful. There are healthy options for the foods I enjoy. I eat hamburgers without the bun (lettuce wrapped) I even enjoy the taste of a turkey burger patty over beef. Healthy pizza, chicken fajitas without the tortilla, Check out bariatric friendly recipes.< /span>
You will be able to go to restaurants. Make it about the conversations and quality food not crap foods. Your safe orders are Protein and veggies. (replace carbs with more veggies) Kids or lite menus are also great.. You are now a cheap dinner date. Take home leftovers in a box for no cook meals later. Log them. Most restaurant menus are in MyFitnessPal food log.
