I have to say, even more than 2 years out, it is so much easier to be good when your busy and so easy to go wrong when your bored.  Crappy weather and the wife is sick so i feel trapped in this house and i have to really watch myself.  At least the holiday leftovers are gone.
Going to get out this week even if for only a few hours, maybe go see  Ford vs Ferrari that looks real good.
Ok, whining over, I hope everyone is doing well and had a good thanksgiving.

I drank for the first time yesterday. I only took 2 sips of a vodka and cranberry drink and I was truly buzzed. I finished that drink and felt pretty hammered. Funny thing is though I ate something and it seem to all go away. I was at an event so 30 mins later I had another drink and it went the same as the first, had one more and I didn't seem to get really drunk but quite buzzed really quickly. More food came out, I ate and my buzz was gone almost completely. Once again after 30 minutes I had yet one more drink with the same affect. The final round of food came out later that night and I partook and it cleared it up again. I then switched to water and was perfectly fine, as though I hadn't drank a thing all night.
I can see after last night how this could become a replacement addiction for some. It's interesting how it affects people differently.

Hey everyone.  Happy Sunday!  Today is day three after surgery.  I am blessed to have the support of my family as well as members of this group.  You guys rock.  I had my surgery at 3 pm Thursday and I was determined to be walking as soon as possible.  I began doing laps around 7.  My wife was there motivating me as well as other patients who became part of the posse.  My pain was not bad at all but I did have bad gas.  I was worried about meeting my fluid and protein goals but I am surpassing both as of yesterday.  My only regret is putting this surgery off as long as I did.  Thanks guys and will talk again soon.

    Hi Everyone,
I am so glad I found this site. I go for my last dietician appointment on Tuesday, September 4th. Then they will submit it to insurance. I am turning 60 on September 30th and I have battled my weight all my life. I want to eliminate or have better control of my health issues. I have diabetes, sleep apnea, acid reflux, high cholesterol, etc.
I can’t wait until I can schedule my surgery. I am hoping to have it in October.

    RE: the running/training
Honestly it started with me just doing laps around the kitchen that first post-op week.
In a week, I graduated to walking up and down my street, then to walking around the block every day.
The distance increased, then the speed.
Then I started running little spurts during my walks, then to alternating 1km runs with 1km walks.
And now I can do a continuous 10k (which I totally did for the first time this morning...so full of myself about it today, it’s disgusting.)
Just do something everyday and slowly increase speed and duration, next thing you know you’ll be one of those odd “running people” (who I never understood pre-op, but now totally get, lol)

just got back from my 2 year check up and wanted to post.  The kcal drop has me worried and thinking i need to up the weights and trim back the cardio. Never saw myself as a person who cared for bulky muscles but the increased calorie burn from more muscle mass certainly wont hurt.
New goal for the next year i guess.

So this morning I RAN my first continuous 5K ever.  On vacation, no less!!  I had gone to the hotel gym with the intention to do 45 mins of run/walk on the treadmill when I crossed paths with a group (led by hotel staff) who were going off-grounds for a group run.  They convinced to join them and I totally did it!!!  Funny because if I were alone I would have gave up at 3km...the presence of the others brought out my "if-you-can-do-this-so-can-i-dammit"  attitude..gonna join them again on Friday!

    Oh, the journey I've traveled.
My weight gain started after a very depressing first marriage & continued on through single parenthood.  By the time I met my current husband (of almost 20 yrs now), I guess I was comfortable with myself & my terrible eating habits. I'm not sure I can pinpoint the moment I decided to have the gastric sleeve, but like many, I got to the point where I was so damn depressed that I didn't even want to go out. I didn't want to be seen or noticed. I was incredibly embarrassed with myself.
Fast forward, I had my surgery around 2014.  Became a weight loss facilitator hosting support meetings for newbies & post surgery. Started a demanding job that took me away from continuing the meetings only to wind up getting laid off 1 1/2 yrs later. Found a temp job but was very unhappy with the commute so I left.
Here's where you need to pay attention. I wound up unemployed for almost 7 months.  I became quite depressed and, guess what gained 25 pounds back. UGH, how could this happen, right?  Fortunately, once I was employed & allowed myself to become accountable to myself again, I started Weight Watchers.  Yea, you would think I knew what I had to do to lose the weight again but I needed the support & something I could 'share' with others.
Here I am, 4 months later & I lost the weight.  Pheww... I'm 5'2 and my average weight is around 142 pounds.  I may start those support meetings up again in the North Denver area. MIght be a great resource for many as it was when I first did it

Never thought I would say this, but I think I've lost enough weight.
My goal was originally 120 lbs, and I think I'm going to stop where I am (127.3 lbs).  I'm about to size myself out of the smallest of sizes of women's clothing and I really don't want to sport a wardrobe from Gap Kids (which, btw, I actually wore this morning...my jacket felt so loose on me and its just a little too cold today to go jacket-less, so I put on the Kid's old windbreaker that she wore 2 years ago: Gap Kids size 12. Seriously.  I'm wearing my kid's hand-me-downs.  What is happening??)
I don't really understand though why when I was in my 20's, when I weighed less than I do right now, was I actually bigger than I am right now.  I still have clothes that I wore in my 20's that I am swimming in these days *scratches head*.
...and since I plan to get some PS done in August, I figure whatever skin they chop off of me will get me down closer to 120 without having to lose any more fat and/or muscle and/or overall bulk.
Soooooo....now I have to figure out how to do the maintenance thing.

I'm not complaining, but I know it is going to sound that I am.  But here goes:
I used to be discouraged going shopping because I knew that more often than not, all the nicer clothes I really wanted to wear would not come in my size.
So now I lost the weight, and wouldn't you effing know it, I'm in the same position as before again, but on the opposite end!
Winners is one of my fave stores, because every once in a while you'll score.  I went to one across the street from the office at lunchtime today.  And every single item I tried on was too big.  We are talking Smalls and Extra-Smalls.  I had to buy a child size hoodie at Roots the other day and I thought it was pretty funny.  Not so funny anymore.

Well, I am breezing through, after 3 times of trial and error/ trying when it comes to referrals for weight lost surgery 4 years of headache, changes of insurance, diets, pains, ups and downs (a whole lot of them!). It finally paid off and my surgery is May 15th of this month. I've been doing my liquid diet and it's going okay, I'm trying to remember to take my vitamins and do stuff right. I had a smart watch with a timer/log for my meds, food, water, and exercise that synced to my phone but I don't know how that well I use it so instead I just have a log I put on my fridge now. I think I'm going to call this year "The Year Of Self Care and Improvements" because I REALLY want to live up to that. I feel VERY alone though and I've lost friends and family due to my decision to have weight loss surgery and also the fact that I don't go out much because I don't want to be tempted/go back to old habits right now and I guess that's another reason why I lost connections. But I just see it this way maybe some of those people don't deserve me because I have high hopes for the future and it doesn't involve those fake people who said they would be there for me until the end. But I'd rather love/learn to love myself because in the end that's all I have, I'm a lone wolf but it's okay I'll find people worthy of my time and efforts someday.

I started my surgery journey a little over a month ago when I started researching the surgery choices. I then got in contact with my insurance and after finding out I have coverage started the process to get admitted into a surgery program. I have been heavy all my adult life and am doing this for me and my future. I have been accepted into the program and meet with my surgeon for the first time on the 24th of this month. I am leaning towards the sleeve.
