  1. I was at a stall with 25 lbs lost at 4 week post op. I had my first fill yesterday. I can tell I am going to start losing again. The NSWs during the stall... were lost inches. I can tell it in my clothes. I also am sleeping better and not getting up in the middle of the night to snack. I can tell my joints already feel better. I don't get as exhausted and tired from doing my gardening work. Everyone is correct... it is normal to stall and as a wise one told me... the time between surgery and your first fill is a "healing period" and you shouldn't be worried about losing the weight.. just do what your doctor told you to do and all will be well. Again, I had the same thoughts and feelings you are going through right now.

  2. I think someone answered this already pretty much what I thought.

I'm really trying to be sympathetic here but come on, you're only 3 weeks post op? Did you think the band would go on and presto, you're skinny?? This might take years to lose all the weight. That's the tough love. Your journey does not start till your band is adjusted properly. That could be no fills or 10 fills. Many and I mean many people do not lose weight at this stage of their journey. Some gain and if you're watching the scale every day it might go up and down for several months. Nothing to worry about and you're not a failure till you give up. Your weight will never go down every day or every week. It just doesn't work that way. Good luck. tmf

  3. I was banded May 6th, I have lost 25 pounds since start of preop liquid diet. As ksc1965 stated.. it is a marathon and not a sprint. If you are "rushing to lose 45lbs and don't want to wait til you hit your sweet spot" you may be disappointed. Don't set yourself up for failure. Follow the rules and the weight loss will follow. Your doctor or nutritionist should have told you how many calories you should be having and what foods to eat and not eat. Good luck and keep us posted.

  4. I am getting my band on May 21st. I am freaking out because my surgery was scheduled for the 28th and found out yesterday they can't do it on that date and have the 21st available, or towards middle end of June. Prayers needed. Needles freak me out.

I freak at the thought of needles, but surgery wasn't that bad. You have your iv, and that's really all you feel. I had blood drawn that night in the hospital, and a shot to prevent blood clots. As much as I hate them, they didn't bother me.

Now, can't say anything about fills, but I hear they are just a pinch :)

I had 2 shots in the stomach for blood clots. 1 I didn't even feel. The next has left a huge bruise and bled like crazy. Hurt like hell too. Not sure what happened

  5. Well, from my perspective, posting threads and getting responses helps build relationships and me being a newbie, that is what I "liked" about this site and what I needed. The social networking is what I was looking for in this time of change.. biggest change of my life. What good is having a forum site if you can't discuss things (even when you can use search). If everyone was to use "search", wouldn't have a very popular forum. Just my opinion and everyone has their own.

  6. I did tuna a lot. My wife also cooked ground beef in the blender and made sure it was fine chopped and mixed it with gravy with mashed potatoes which was awesome after being on liquids for a while. I also used beneprotein to add more Protein to my meals. It has no taste or anything, and actually I still use it here and there to hit 70 grams of Protein. Adding it to the healthy grain cream of wheat made with milk puts it at 20 grams of protein. Another thing I did was blender chicken breast to where it still had some texture and added FF cream cheese, sour cream, garlic, spinach, and artichokes and made a delicious meal that had 26 grams of protein in 5 oz. Good luck though, hope this gives you some ideas to try.

That chicken breast idea sounds wonderful! I will try that tomorrow... first day of mushies!!

  7. sorry you are feeling so much pain. Today was a better day and the first time I felt "normal'. I found whey Protein mix powder and I bought some already premade Protein Drinks for convenience. I am still not getting all of my protein or fluids but is getting easier. I have a lot of Jello, puddings, cream Soups, broths, pop cicles, etc. haven't had any hunger pains really.. probably because my plan calls for me to eat about 6 tiny meals a day.

  8. so lunch with mom was good. i wasted money on the buffet but the egg drop Soup, sushi centers and a little sweet potato was yummy

didn't really eat much now that I think about it. spoon full or two of sweet potato, soup, and 3 sushi centers (mashed) and i called it quits. feeling much better today than yesterday. going to go back to work half day on tuesday i think.

  9. Sadly, Soup is probably all you can have right now. Or some hot tea. Even if you're in the pureed food stage, I can't think of anything that would fit that food stage that you could find on a Chinese restaurant menu.

had some egg drop soup, sweet potato fluff, and tore out the middle of some sushie for the avacoda, salmon and cream cheese and mashed it up. man was that good!

  10. Been a while since I posted this!

So I'm sorry to be too graphic here but remember, someone filled your body cavity full of gas, they pumped fluids, medications, antibiotics and anesthesia into your body. They punched 5 holes in your abdomen, moved all your inner body parts around, shoved a tube down your throat, took an electric scalpel and burned away excess fat and tissue wrapped around your upper stomach, then wrapped a plastic strap around your stomach just below the lower esophogeal sphincter, stitched it in place with 5-6 sutures bringing your lower stomach up and over the band and then snaked a tube out of your body and then sewed another plastic piece to the muscle tissue on your rib cage.

Now, thinking about all that has been done to your body, you're doing quite well aren't you?

Yep! I'm doing awesome! Thanks. Today is a better day.
