Kpar- I think seeing the weight loss is about percentages, but I would think by 40 lbs someone would've noticed! Are you wearing different or same clothes? For a while, people were telling me that they liked my hair (Not different)! So maybe folks see that something is different, but can't figure out what?

@nikkydizzle you are looking good, what great progress. As far as @VSgladlady, so sorry to hear I think Hemorrhoids can definitely make it feel as if something is in there.

Thank you @@Grandma & @@mjmboston ????I'm 51yo, 5'4", lost 10 lbs from the time I went to my 1st nutrition seminar in April til surgery & then 30lbs post op so far. Eating is going well overall, still on soft diet, but better variety & perfect for Thanksgiving. Tastebuds have changed a bit & still fill up quick even eating slowly.

I had surgery 10/9/14 @ highland hospital in Rochester, almost 7 weeks post op already!! Preop diet was 24 hours, down 40 lbs total so far. Choose the sleeve over bypass, because I didn't want to worry about malabsorption & no Diabetes or other co-morbidities.

Just found this thread & yay for the 50s! I'm 6 weeks out & thought I was getting my energy back, but the past week at work did me in. Glad for the weekend to recover. @@beachgal2935 -what an awesome feat with your hemoglobin A1c & @@LainieG -you are truly inspirational to have gone through all you have to persevere to surgery, I'm certain you will be a success.

    No liquid diet no drain

No liquid pre-op diet, just clear liquids the day before, Highland Hospital in Rochester NY. We were encouraged to follow the regular Bariatric diet. No drain either.
  12. It's on the regular website, not the mobile app, although I accessed it from my phone via Safari

  14. @@TatorTot - you're so close, don't give up. If 3 more months is all it takes, do it for you- you are worth this. The CBT, Depression, and Minfulness classes will be so helpful for your success. Depression improves with weight loss surgery. Knowing how to be mindful is so helpful post op when you need to listen to your body. Yes, it's 3 more months, but given your journey to get here, it's only 3 months- do it for you, not them!
  15. I agree, all those emotions are there. I was sleeved 10/9 & I was pleased to have the support of my husband & 2 adult daughters. Things went as expected, but I was nervous as this was my 1st surgery ever & since I work in healthcare, I am familiar with all the things that could go wrong, BUT none of them did & the statistics really point toward the positive. It was helpful to have the emotional support & I was so amazed how supportive, helpful and positive my 22yo & 19 yo daughters were. The hardest time for me so far was the 1st 24 hrs post-op- physically.

@@chellede , I'd have to travel to the other side of the state (I'm in Upstate/ western NY), but keep me posted, that would be so cool! &@@mjmboston - the difference is at home, you can take a nap! I agree with 1/2 days 1st & start mid week if you can- you will get tired.

@@chellede - that is awesome!!! I'm shooting for a 5k 1st & since we have winter here , probably not til April, May or June, although I did get 2 miles walked today, but not all at once.

@ , I think anything goes initially, I was told that abnormal is the new normal in terms of the bathroom. Could also be due to antibiotics or if you got your gallbladder taken out too. Possibly if your sensitive to the type of protein powder or what your mixing it with?

@@mjmboston -agree about lip balm. Also, bring mouth wash or breath strips, cause your breath post op is yucky & only had the sponge swabs with water initially. Slip on sandals were nice to walk in the day after ( they will give you the tread socks) I also brought my own toothpaste & toothbrush. & agree about the walking. Sugar free jello is good once home. & the pharmacy has a trial/sample pack for ~$20. of the Unjury.

October 2014 sleevers check in please!

@@mjmboston - I was very pleased with everything-surgery went well(6 incisions, no drains & were able to remove the gallbladder at same time). Post-op- the nausea med was given routinely, so I never had nausea til I got home (& only mild-they gave you meds for home too), nursing & floor staff was awesome-helpful & knowledgable. I felt well prepared going in as far as diet & expectations. I liked the fact that the only prep diet was Clear liquids x 1 day prior to & you can start puréed foods after 1st post-op appt. ~1week. My surgeon was Dr. Forbes, but I saw Dr. O'Malley post op. As far as back to work, I went back 1 day shy of 3 weeks- office job, but fast paced & at times mentally draining & After 2 full days back, I am really tired- was tired yesterday & worse today, luckily have off Friday. I'd recommend 2 weeks. Or if need be, start off at 1/2 days1st. I'm down 17.6 lbs, 3 weeks after surgery, maybe more, but weighed at night today & had some leg swelling. ????
