  1. Hi all

Been awhile for me... but wanted to post an article recently written in my band ‘experience’. Very pleased.... honestly, never an issue and pretty simple overall. If I can do it, you can too. Give it a thought. If I can help, let me know!

I'm happy that you posted this. I can't overstate how disappointing it is to come to a support forum and see nothing but people bashing the band. It's not the purpose of the forum and not helpful to those of us who opted for it.

Dr Fielding - and that practice - are the best!

  3. Thank you for your well wishes!

I had originally gone for eyes - the extra skin made my lids droopy and I always looked tired. Dr said both could be done at the same time.

Btw. Of course, insurance didn’t cover it, I didn’t even ask Lucky enough to be able to private pay. I asked doc if he could do anything on price since I was doing eyes and neck, and he did eyes for half price. Doesn’t hurt to ask!

I was successfully banded 5 years ago. Was 246 now hover around 195. Have not reached my goal of 155 but still 195 is better than 246 so there was some progress. But now I'm stuck not losing any weight. I got a fill a few times but it was unbearable I couldn't even swallow Water so now I have no fill, no restriction and my doctor does not want to try fill again because it was so painful for me last time.I try to watch what I eat but admit I don't exercise enough (A few times a week on my elliptical). Anyway I do get occasional acid reflux and have been on antacids but its not a BIG problem. Still my doctor suggests that I seriously consider band removal as I am young-ish (Under 50) with no high blood pressure or other health conditions. She said I would also be a good candidate for the Gastric BYpass. She said there is no real research on what happens if ppl keep the band in for decades and since I'm in relatively good health, have not been losing weight, and experience acid reflux, I should get it removed. But surgery is surgery (has its risks) plus some ppl on here have expressed it to be painful. But better now than never?? Would love some feedback on this! THanks!

You’re in Ny. Do yourself a favor and see Dr George Fielding at NYU. The best! If anyone can help you, it’s him. Trust me

    Hello all,

I had my lapband placed February 10, 2017 and I weighed in 228 at surgery and now I am 194. I am having a difficult time with the films and being tight. I went in for an unfill yesterday and it dropped me to 2.8cc and I am now constantly hungry. I feel so discouraged, I am not sure if the scale is right but I went up a pound. I am honestly thinking about getting a revision to sleeve. What do you all think? Please help.

All I can say is be patient. It took me numerous fills, and a few unfills, to get it right. Rely on your doc. It’ll work. It hasn’t been a year yet.

    Hang in there

  6. So, been awhile since I’ve been on... happy to report everything is good (3 1/2 years out)

Can’t believe I actually did it.... but last week had my eyes fixed up (excess skin on eyelids and bags under eyes) and extra skin on my neck removed. Sorry, can’t remmeber official procedure names.... 3 hour surgery, all good.... never took a pain pill

How long should I expect to look normal? Well, like I didn’t have surgery. Ha

i have little swelling, stictches out Wednesday which is cool. But the incision on my neck is pretty obvious right now

    Thanks!

Thank you. Hope I can get an appointment for another fill soon. How many mls untill the band is working properly?

It totally varies. I just had a bit taken out. I know I didn't feel anything until about four months out from surgery. The surgeon said I would - and I did. Be patient....
