  6. “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. By paying closer attention to who and what really matters, you’ll start appreciating the miracle of the mundane. Focusing on what’s right will help you see your life in a new light.

  7. What a great boost yesterday when my oldest bonus daughter told me she had watched me as I walked around in the hospital cafeteria yesterday (where we were having lunch) and said I was "really looking fantastic!" What a blessing and an encouragement!! And before we went to lunch, while we were in my son-in-law's room (he's the patient), my 6 year old grandson said he could tell I had lost a lot of weight (big smile!). This wasn't the first time either. Both made my day!!!

  8. My first follow since surgery is Thursday with my surgeon. How hoften did you all go after that? Never ? Every 3 or 6 months?

  10. Today was a good day. 13 days post op, finally feeling less discomfort, my leather boots zipped up with a good amount of give, and I wasn't recognized right away when I saw someone I haven't seen in 50lbs!

  11. I'm thinking of backing out of surgery. On Day 5 preop. Have lost 32 pounds on my own in less than 2 months. Twelve more pounds and I don't even qualify. Maybe I don't need the sleeve. My husband and I are both retired now. We can go to the gym daily ,cook what I need. Help!

Of course that is your decision to make. I've lost a lot on my own too, only to have my weight go back to where it was before. Having the sleeve gives you an enormous advantage. For me there is less of a connection to food. Although I enjoy cooking, I look at recipes now and think, "Meh"--- doesn't sound so great. I look at the amount of food on others' plates and can't believe they can actually finish that much food. I don't eat very much, yet feel very full. Now, I'd have to go way out of bounds (which is hard to do) in order to gain it back. My diabetes went away after 2 days-- such a relief! Since I hadn't had diabetes for more than 4 years, chances are very good that it won't come back. I am almost 6 months out and have lost 50 pounds. I have around 40 more to go. I'll get there slowly but surely. It is a good surgery. Best of all, the doctor had told me that, with a BMI of around 40, I would likely lose 10 years of my life! Now, I'm no longer heading towards that cliff. I'm going to be a normal weight and not have my family go through an extra 10 years of grief. Sooo happy I did this!

That's a lot of weight to lose. I would concentrate on protein and not eat many carbs. Also, don't eat any fast food. Join a gym too! Best wishes!
