  1. That is absolutely amazing progress! Good for you!!!!
  2. I had the same concerns however after chatting with others that have had both the bypass and the sleeve, I was ok. They reminded me that I will not have to give up those favorite foods .... just practice moderation which wont be that hard with the size of our new tummy's. Unless the issue is dumping, you can still have a bite or two of enchiladas once in awhile or a bite of your favorite cheesecake at holiday time. If you always deprive yourself, it won't be a good way to live in my opinion. I also think that our tastes will change as we begin to lose. What once was a favorite my be something e can't even imagine eating down the road. So don't give up on yourself. You can do this in a way that will work for YOU .... good luck!

    Painkillers

When first out of recovery, I was on IV Morphine. When that proved to not work they switched to Diluded (sp?). It seemed to work better but for shorted timeframe. Once they added IV Tylenol along with the Diluded and it was wonderful. The next day, IV came out and I was switched to liquid Vicoden (Lortab) and although it tasted awful, it worked great. I was released with a script for the liquid Lortab and I have used it 2-3 times. Definitely at night so I can get some rest. Hope that helps

    Last Meal

My program does not have a liquid diet, just clear fluids the day before my procedure, so my last meal would have been the evening before THAT. My gallbladder however had different plans and decided that my planned gorging on chips, salsa and tacos and my favorite Mexican food place would not be taking place. Sadly, I ended up eating mashed potatoes. No butter, no sour cream, no gravy .... just a scoop of potatoes. I was sad lol ....

    Gallbladder matter

Well, my surgery is in 3 days and I am having both RNY and gallbladder removal so I can let you know in a week or so how bad it was
  6. Well my surgery date has arrived faster then I ever thought possible. This will be the 2nd date as my 1st was postponed by 3 months and I never thought the day would EVER get here .... and now I am quietly freaking out! It seems so real now. And kind of scary. And almost a sadness that I will never eat normal again. Well, normal for the plus sized me as I am now which really is not "normal". I find I am not so much concerned about the actual procedure as I am about what follows. I know that it will be worth it. The health benefits and the energy levels .... even the slimmed down woman I long to be, in cute clothes and able to actually cross my legs .... but I am still really nervous and apprehensive. Monday my co-workers are throwing me a little celebration and I have tons of support but I somehow feel crazy with all the OMG thoughts rattling around my head .... and then I feel shamed because I worked hard to get this thru the insurance and get all my tests and studies completed. I want this, but this is kinda scary. Ok, stopping whining now ...

    Pre op and nervous

I am 2.5 weeks out (pre op) and it's starting to get very real, real quick! Success will be ours as long as we follow the food plans, exercise both our bodies and our minds and always remember what it was like for us before we fought so hard for the gift we have been blessed with ..... this tool to begin anew and have a future of healthy living! Good luck to you!
  10. 2.5 weeks to go ...... it's getting real now!!

    Support letter

Mine refused too, as did my rheumatologist, so I went back to a PCP I had prior to the current one and she was all for it .... don't give up because others can't get on board with your surgery.

    Unjury chicken soup help!

I purchased a mini hand mixer on Amazon. Have not used it yet but I'm thinking it will be ideal for mixing protein powders and such. It was pretty cheap and has surprising power for such a tiny mixer. You might try that .... hope it helps you!

    Gallstones

I have had gallbladder issues for over a year so my surgeon will be removing it along with my RNY in August. I think I may be more excited about finely having that gone then the WLS right now lol ..... those attacks seriously suck!

    Tired of boring plain water?

OK, so I now have both the Aqua and Citrus Zinger and the only one I really use is the citrus Zinger. The Aqua Zinger is nice but prepping all the fruit, steeping it in the fridge for an hour before drinking it and the small capacity make it not worth the trouble. I wish it had been because its a really nice idea. Citrus Zinger however is really nice. I just cut a few oranges (or other citrus fruits) and can be prepped, juiced and on my way in a short amount of time and it holds quite a bit. So all in all, Aqua Zinger not worth the $$, Citrus Zinger gets 2 thumbs up!

    Trader Joe's

I love love LOVE Trader Joes. They have some amazing Salmon Cakes in the frozen food section as well as their Hummus. I get the Roasted Garlic and the Traditional. Also their Carolina Gold BBQ sauce is bomb (I know its sugar but I use it sparingly)..... I get my electrolyte waters there and I like the Pure Protein 35 mg Protein drinks (chocolate frosty) that come in a can. They also have these bags of Rice Crackers and Edamame (sp?) Crackers (in the chip section) that I love with the hummus and chicken or tuna salad. We buy their coffee concentrate to make protein enhanced cold coffee drinks at home and their cheese selection is always fun.
  18. Pik ..... I completely understand your fears. I have RA and going off my meds, having to walk and move after the surgery with the pain is a bit concerning. Also, the discontinuation of my ibuprofen makes me wanna cry .... but I just try and remind myself that I am in pain NOW and function every day. I am positive that with the weight loss, even knowing it won't cure the RA, will still benefit my joints and energy level. I will not be returning to my biologic (none have worked to date but will be trying a new one when I can continue my treatments) until 6 wks after my RNY and I have vowed to avoid the steroids this time. Nothing packed my pounds on faster then 2 years of prednisone. Nasty stuff! Good luck with your surgery
  19. I was postponed for 3 months. Not due to the surgeon but because of my own sneaky health issues. The surgeon wanted me to take a few months healing time from diverticulitis. My original date was June 17th. Now it's August 13 (the 3 months started from the time I was hospitalized in May). It was a hard thing to deal with so I feel your pain. Time has flown by though and I am gearing up once again ..... this week will pass quickly and before you know it, you will be post op and really starting your journey. Good luck to you!
  20. My ideal size would be about 6-8. A size 0 seems so unattainable at this point (still pre-op and wearing the dreaded size 28) but if I get there and look and feel healthy ... then yay! I just can't even fathom wearing a 0,2,4,6, with all the loose skin I am bound to have afterwards .....
  21. I am so sorry to hear that you are having to go through this. At least you had the bad removed and will begin healing. I am sure it was devastating news but the time will past quick and hopefully in 6 months you can take the next step. I will send positive vibes your way!
  22. They removed several from me as well. No mention if they were benign or not ..... no mention of a biopsy either ...... huh .... I will have to call the office tomorrow and check into that ..... would probably be good information to know lol ... glad yours went well
  23. Thanks to a bout of diverticulitis in May, my surgery was postponed till August 13th (originally scheduled June 17th). One of the requirements was a visit to a colon-rectal specialist. Did that and received the all clear for my procedure so I was all set to begin the waiting game again however the doctors office called after receiving my CAT scan results from the hospital and advised they wanted to do a colonoscopy so that is now scheduled for Monday June 30th. Not at all happy but (ha) willing to do what is necessary to reach my goal. I hear the prep is the worst part and I am definitely not looking forward to it .... I know its just a small bump on my journey but this procedure actually has me more anxious then the actual WLS. Strange but true .... not much to say really, just venting a tad .... having to postpone my bypass was hard but now this? OK, pity party over lol .....

    July 1st !

So so happy your day has finally come. You will do amazing! Happy and positive thoughts will be sent your way!!!! Remember .. walk walk walk, toot toot toot and sip sip sip
  25. Just a follow up to my original post .... Had my colonoscopy this morning and surprise surprise, it was pretty uneventful. The prep, while foul tasting and a tad nauseating, was the worst part. The procedure itself was a piece of cake. Doc told me all looked good and my WLS was still a go and he would see me in 5 years. Thanks for all the advise .........
