    1. Having the energy to chase after my kids!
    2. Smaller clothes. Going shopping with friends and family members has always made me uncomfortable, because none of the clothes would fit me. I was just along for the show! I want to be able to wear those clothes, own those clothes, and be freakin amazing in those clothes!!!
    3. Not having to squeeze myself into my jeans, because I refuse to buy the next size up!
    4. Riding rides and not having to have someone come by and help me to latch the harness, and being terrified the whole time that the seat belt will break loose and I will fall to my doom!
    5. Two piece bathing suit! I want to be able to wear a two piece bathing suit and be comfortable and feel attractive!
Those are just a few... I could probably go on and on!!!

I am 6 months out from surgery and my husband and I have started having problems. I have actually already put a deposit down on an apartment. He gets so upset about anything I do. If I post a picture of just me on Facebook, he says it is all about me. He says I have changed. Of course I have, I am more confident, I care more about what I look like all the time. I am not ashamed to say, "at this time, it IS ALL about me". I feel better than I have in a very long time. I love him more than life, but I cannot deal with the issues at hand. I feel great physically and want to feel just as great emotionally.

I had my weight loss surgery 4 months ago and am down 84lbs, and my husband is driving me nuts, he is convinced I am cheating on him, he said it has nothing to do with the weight loss but that's BS!!! 84 lbs ago he could care less what I did, were I went or if I even came home after a night out with the girls, now he blows up my phone the entire time Im out and I have never given him a reason to believe that I was. I am how ever going out more than I was, I no longer feel like the big pink elephant in the room and I can actually find cute clothes that fit me. Its really an insult that he felt like no one would bother with me before but now I might have a shot. He's even looked at my phone records and was calling numbers!!! I know 2 other people that have had surgeries and they to are now divorced which is were I feel like I want to be, not because I want to find better but because he thought so little of me. Just remember everyones different, Im just telling of my experience. Good luck!!!

    ex·cuse
    verb
    ikˈskyo͞oz/
    1. attempt to lessen the blame attaching to (a fault or offense); seek to defend or justify.

Just for the record, for ALL of you out there. You do not need an "excuse" to NOT do something, whether it be walking in a 5K or climbing on a treadmill. My 'excuse' - I have no interest, 'Nuff said.

Don't ever feel pressured or bullied, yes, BULLIED - don't ever feel 'less than' because you cannot or CHOOSE not to do what others do. Do not feel this is a competition. Do not feel if you aren't participating, you will be shunned or that you're an outcast. You are not.
We all must find the path that works best for us as we learn to maneuver our way through this tiny tummy business. Some of us are animals when it comes to walking, running and exercise - let me stop right here and say, many of these people are my friends, they know who they are and they know how much I respect and admire what they do. I am pretty sure I could not do what they do. I don't want to do what they do, but I sure love following their progress and dedication.
The point is, time and again I see a "What's your excuse?" and it rubs me the wrong way. Bullying rubs me the wrong way and it IS bullying, you can put lipstick on that pig, but it's still a pig. "What's your excuse" is NOT encouragement, it is NOT support, it is a dig to try and make you feel less than and that is NOT ok. Ever.

I know that I'm only just beginning, having had my surgery exactly 3 weeks ago(July 28), but I'm so excited I just had to share. I'm down 30# from my highest weight, just had my measurements redone by my trainer and I've lost 12 1/2" and I feel great!
So far, I'm thrilled with the changes both psychologically and physically.
I think that Sleevie and I have a bright future ahead. The information and support from this website have been invaluable- thanks to all.

Dulce_jtrivera reacted to I will what I want in Read the research!
    You all crack me up!
Here is the rant I tried to post last night:
Please people, read the research papers that abound on this crazy thing called the internet about WLS. You know the vitriolic, name calling arguments that ya'll have been having over carbs, band vs vsg, vsg vs RnY? There are recent and good scientific studies about the pluses and minuses. (Good, meaning not funded by a medical company and peer reviewed, etc) And those questions and statements that vsg is mostly restrictive (it's not, actually)? A couple of new studies have shown it's mostly metabolic...
I could go on and on with examples but you get the idea. Why do I care, you ask? Here's why:
When one understands fully how and why each procedure works, you can make proper choices.
If you understand that vsg is mostly metabolic and you basically get a reset then you can make choices to keep that reset. If you read that new studies show the size of sleeve (ie 34 to 40 ish) makes no difference in weight loss but does in reflux...you can have a serious conversation with your doc. How much supplementation do you .really. need if you have had RnY? It's in a study...
It's your body and health. Don't count on a surgeon you see occasionally (or nut. Or strangers on the internet) to know it all. Know it all for yourself.
There is a lot of research happening with WLS these days because the results are phenomenal. Drug companies and institutions are performing basic research because they are looking for new drugs to produce. That's good news for us!
One last note: some of the studies are dense and even with a science background I can't follow the details. However, I can follow the basic argument and conclusions. I can decide if it's a well designed study. So don't let the 20 character long molecule names stop you!
    Get reading people!
    Rant over.
And now you can proceed to tell me why I'm wrong (isn't that what comes next with strangers on the internet?)

Hi everyone! Just wanted to check in and let y'all know how I was doing. So far, I feel really great! I am able to get in 80-90oz of Fluid a day. The only problem I am having is Protein, everything I try makes me so sick! I don't know if it is the smell or the taste, but my tiny tummy does not like it. I am getting about 20g of protein just by drinking some skim milk. Everyday gets a little better! Hope all of you are doing well!

Glad you are doing well! You might try scooping one scoop of unflavored Protein Powder and sprinkling just a little of it in your milk throughout the day.....

@@GingerSlim I guess that's what I get when I drink warm Soups. Gurgling and the burps. But I'm with @@evanslaura79 in that I stick around 4 ounces and don't push it. I don't feel the same "full" as I used to, but after I stop, I realize I'm not hungry. I think I read somewhere that it takes the stomach and mind about 20 minutes to communicate that the stomach is full, so maybe it just takes time to learn the new signals. I think I also read somewhere on here that one person's signal was hiccups and another person's signal was a runny nose. Weird, but I've honestly been looking for those signs.
I had to go to lunch yesterday with a group from work. They don't know I had this type of surgery, so I ordered Soup while everyone else enjoyed chicken fried bacon, onion rings, fresh rolls with whipped honey butter, and other good looking foods. I will admit that it was hard to watch because I wanted to try a little bit of everything, but I kept reminding myself of my purpose, and it put things into perspective for me. Still hard, but doable. I'm going to lunch today with another group, so we'll see if it's as hard.
Yes, good wishes to @Dulce_jtrivera. She'll be on this side with us today!

I am hoping everyone is doing well! The days are getting closer and I am starting my pre-op diet this week. How much weight have you guys lost on the pre-op diet? I have already lost around 20 lbs in the past few months, I am hoping to lose at least 10 more pounds before surgery. I am worrying that I might not meet that goal, because my weight loss is slowing now, like it usually does after the first 15lbs. Well here's to the next couple weeks, and to the scale moving in the right direction!

Well, tomorrow I am getting sleeved. I check in at 11am and surgery is at 1pm. I have so many emotions going on right now. I am nervous, excited, happy, anxious, etc. I am so ready for the next part of this journey. Today marks 10 days I have been on the liver reducing diet. I have had 5 Protein Shakes a day for 10 days! Believe me, it was hard the first 4 days, but I didn't give up or cheat! As if Sunday I was down 37lbs. I am excited to see what the scale says tomorrow. I began this journey in November and I thought this day would never come and here I am. This forum has helped me through the rough times and has helped me keep my spirits up. Thank you everyone! I will continue to update how everything goes tomorrow and when I return home. If anyone wants to chat or ask questions please feel free to. I love talking with everyone! ????

Have been away on a mini vacation for a few days and didn't think or worry about the process while gone. Came back home yesterday and the first thing I did this morning was call the doctor's office and talk to the coordinator to see how things were progressing. You said, "I have your approval!!" I was NOT expecting those words out of her mouth. There had been some delays in getting stuff into their office and I didn't even know they had received it, much less sent it to insurance. I'm an emotional wreck right now!! I'm scheduled for August 13 and have to go back to work on the 18. She said I should be fine since I'll be in in-service meetings and sitting at my desk most of the time. I sure hope she's right.
I know my dear sweet dad in heaven had a hand in this happening for me, as well as the Lord above.
