OK.... True confessions. A few weeks ago I told you I "had a date".... Well, the "date" asked me to go to Block Island for the Labor Day weekend.... Well, I went. And had a fabulous time. And I did tons of hiking and biking and other "fun" things that I couldn't have possibly done a year ago. And, it was a pleasant surprise to find out my "date" had gastric bypass three years ago... It was awesome to share stories.

poached egg or very soft moist scrambled. the goal is to not be rubbery. I made one over easy once and cooked the white a little too much. I threw it out and started over. It is not worth the tummy ache to save one darn egg. I did wonderful with eggs but I made them very moist. Scrambled eggs I always mixed unsweetened vanilla almond milk to puff them up and keep them moist.
It took a lot of practice but a poached egg is heavenly.
That far out I would only be eating 1 egg and if you can't finish it, that is okay. eat slowly and small bites chewing until you can't chew any more, wait, then try and other bite. as soon as you have a full feeling, stop eating.

Hello Gladiators as we come upon our anniversary: less then one Month away from OCTOBER, I can't help but ponder on where we were and where we are. Just today, I realized I can run up the stairs. In fact, I ran up the stairs more then 10 times this morning. Laundry day, lol. Just to give you an idea, I used to bring down with me everything I needed for the day. If I was going out, my makeup would be done before coffee and I would bring down the clothes I would wear later. In other words, I avoided going back upstairs at all costs. My poor children carried all the stuff up and down. There used to be a pile at each end looking for carriers. Now, I do all my own carrying, thank you very much. Not once did my legs hurt either. I want to shout from the mountain top, THIS IS THE BEST THING I EVER DID. Wow, I am overwhelmed with pride for all of us. We are awesome beyond measure. We were before but now we can actually enjoy our lives without feeling all coupled up in a less then efficient body. Imagine being picked for an advanced group in any sport one year ago, or getting anyone to say you look amazing. Running up the stairs is my very own version of heaven. I shall savor the moment and linger on the notion that I can do something now I thought I could not ever do.

PinkPolkadot619 got a reaction from Madeleine Renee in Surgeon trying to convince me to do the sleeve instead of RNY
My doctor told me I was a good candidate for both. I know some surgeons view RNY as more drastic, but in my experience and I have a FB group with over 200 members, most sleevers struggle to get to goal weight. Now I am no expert and this is just from the small group of people I have contact with. But for me during my research I knew RNY had a better percentage of weight loss and I had struggled so many times that I wanted the best opportunity to make it to my goal! I have NO regrets at all.
Good luck, and know this is your body and with what info you have provided, I think the choice should be yours.

I am so sorry for your struggles! What you are dealing with is my biggest fear and I want to do everything I can not to get to that point so I appreciate you sharing your story.
I have often said, if I were to start gaining back weight I would reset beginning with the liquid diet or 5 day pouch test. For me getting all the junk out of my system was the thing that helped me in the beginning. I would like to think it would work for me again.
It likely is not the cheese that is getting you. It is probably the bad carbs you spoke of, losing the restricted feeling and lack of exercise.
I have psoriatic arthritis as well as just had a 3 level cervical fusion done in June. I hurt bad every single day. My knee, hip and spine are horrible but I know that if I don't at least walk for a period of time, I will not lose weight. I try my hardest to get on the treadmill or go for a long walk every single day. If I hurt after which I always do, I use ice and a heating pad. You must get your body moving in some way but I think you already know that.
Then while you are eating remove distractions such as TV. Slow your eating down just as if it were the day after surgery. Listen to your body again. I find when I am distracted it is really easy to simply inhale my food to the point where I am stuffed. Being stuffed is not necessary.
Go back to tracking every single thing you put in your mouth using something like my fitness pal. Hold yourself accountable. It really does help when you have to put some garbage you ate in there. You can see the added carbs, fat and calories and know that you won't lose the next day.
I wish you the very very best of luck. I think you just need to get started again.

My surgery was Oct 14. For my thanksgiving I had baked sweet potato (1Tablespoon), mashed potato (1 Tablespoon), and 2 green Beans. I had my Protein shake before we went over and had one with me for later in the evening. my "feast" was special to me because I was only eating Protein at the time so I was excited for the few tablespoons of yummies. But it was not actually my source of nutrition for the day. I was VERY limited on how much I could eat and I was happy as could be to just socialize. Christmas we went out to Chinese food, I had basically broth Soup and a few non fried veggies. again it was not my main source of nutrition but I participated enough that people felt okay with me sipping on Soup.< /p>
hope this helps. Mostly it came down to me being okay with things, attitude is everything.

I am sorry you have struggled. I would suggest going to a liquid diet for at least 4-5 days. Protein shakes, Water, Water, and more water. The only way I can not crave sugary and carby things is to not eat them....
Maybe then go back to soft foods/mushies like low fat cottage cheese, 2 oz tuna packets, etc. Unfortunately this will be hard and take a lot of discipline. I would suggest creating a reward system for yourself for each day - a new book, a lipstick, something cheap and fun that is not food-related.
I know exactly how hard this is. Are you exercising at all currently?
Can you do a major clean out of your fridge and pantry?
I wish you all the best.

Congratulations all of you!! I am an October 2014 RNY gal! :-) so I am looking at my 1 year surg-aversary, Oct 14th
I am at goal weight and down a total of 115lbs. I lost 25lbs during my 6 months of education/preparation classes before surgery.
I took 11 days off work but I had coworkers who knew what I was doing and were supportive I also had the support of my family and boyfriend. I basically told my family they can support me or kiss my booty. It was not fun in the beginning but then as people asked their dumb questions and understood what and why I was doing what I was doing it got better.
I would recommend waiting for surgery until you can be fully taken care of. This is about YOU and YOUR life! I promise if you set things up to be give you the most opportunity to be successful things will be better. You for sure do not want to be stressed during and after your surgery. I know waiting sucks but you have to think of yourself and your precious body.

Again, doctors may differ but my main rule is no white sugar no white flour (per my doc and nut).
Seeds and nuts are fine in small amounts. Should avoid breads (though sometimes Ezekiel bread is ok). Reduced fat cheese is ok in small amounts.
Can you have a small piece of birthday cake or ice cream? Well, the true answer is no you shouldn't. But will you and have others? Probably. But it is best to not have any. Once you do, it almost seems that you give yourself permission to do it again and the amounts get larger and pretty soon, you are back to old habits. I'm not saying don't, I'm saying you shouldn't. But I'm also putting my own inability to control myself onto you! lol. Sorry.
    Things you can have:
    chicken
    Turkey
    seafood
    edamame
    eggs
yogurt (especially fat free greek yogurt. The new recommendation is Oikos Triple Zero in black container)
    Fat free cottage cheese
veggies (once your body accepts them anyway)
fruit (no more than 2 small servings / day once your body is ready to have them)
    seeds and nuts
lean beef and pork though chicken and turkey are better
    chili
    tofu
    lot's of Water
    Things to avoid:
I can't remember the whole list but I think it's...
    carbonated beverages
    anything deep fried or fried
    Chinese food
    white sugar
    white flour
    rice
    Pasta
pizza (though I do have some but only eat the toppings. I am going to try the cauliflour crust pizza soon)
    Cookies
    crackers
    candy
    cakes
    donuts
    muffins
    you get the picture!
Note that neither list is complete, just the things I thought of off the top of my head.
It's hard and I'm doing horribly lately and have been eating from the bad list. Don't do this! Don't even start doing this!! It really sends you down a bad rabbit hole.
I highly recommend going to eggfaces blog to get ideas of what to eat. If you search on "the world according to eggface" you should find her pretty easily!
    Best of luck.

congratulations I have had the issue of a few specific people telling me "tell me you are done loosing, you need to stop" This Monday I was just on my PMS horse and ran her butt over! I smiled and said "I am so glad you are my doctor and have made this decision for me" she said " you know what I mean".......I smiled and said "no, I don't. I am under a doctors supervision, I am fine, if I loose more it is fine, and if I don't it is fine, but it will still not be any of your business!"
    I hardly know this woman!!
    thank you for the vent
