    PinkPolkadot619 got a reaction from Shadow427 in OCTOBER 2014
This weekend I deiced to give myself a weekend of not stressing over every calorie that went in to me, I was still in my calorie range and met my Protein goals...and lost half a pound! yay! I am thinking I might need to give my self a little slack during the weekends so I start my weeks more relaxed. No I am not going to have cake and ice cream every weekend LOL but I had a few bites of pancake (after my eggs) and I was stoked over it. I know it is a balance that I am still learning.

Well, as of this last weekend, I am officially in the 170's!! 178, but still....170's!
Back in 2008-2010, when I had lost 85 pounds with the lapband, 178 was the lowest I had gotten. I think I was there for about 3 days, then went back up to 180. I stayed there for over a year....then started slowly gaining.
I am so scared that's going to happen again!!
Physical therapy is going really well for my hip/back/tail bone. She finally allowed me to get out and at least do some walking. Last night we headed out to see how far I could get on the route we always used to take the dogs on. We haven't done it since before my surgery back in October! My PT lady said I may only be able to go 10 minutes at a time, but work up to 30 minutes. Well, we went 30 minutes, and I could have gone ALOT further, except my hip did start stiffening up. But otherwise, I felt amazing!! Had so much more energy and stamina!! And my feet didn't hurt at all!! Can't wait to get out and do it again!
Better go get some work done I suppose. Hate Mondays!!

^i was dizzy until I upped my carbs - good carbs though, it's worth discussing with your nutrition and dr team.

PinkPolkadot619 reacted to Beni in Stretching out pouch
I was also told by my medical team there is no such thing as stretching your pouch. What you eat and how you eat is what causes the food to pass through allowing us to eat more then we should. Slider foods, drinking with meals, eating too fast are the real issues not the pouch stretching. We have to eat slowly to promote a filling of the egg sized stomach and emptying while triggering the nerve that detects fullness in the proper way. When the next bite comes the stomach keeps emptying. If we go too fast you can consume way more without feeling satisfied. Not chewing well enough causes food to get stuck and then you get the foamies. The reason you can't stretch your stomach it's because it's like a tiny ziplock bag with a hole at the bottom about the size of dime to a nickel. It's impossible because food goes right out. I am describing gastric bypass. With the sleeve, if you overfill, what you get is horrible reflux. The only thing that happens is while your pouch is healing is is very sensitive. Once it heals it's more elastic and more efficient at emptying. This is why some patients say they feel no restriction. I would recommend talking to your doctor and nurse. They can explain the way this works in a way that is most helpful. I am very grateful for that because I feel like I understand what is going on. Knowledge is power, right?

@@amylynns, when I had my reduction in 1994, it was reduction and lift no implants. Now after this weight loss I have sad saggie little b's and am toying with the idea of implants. Make your decision when you have finished losing weight, you might be fine with just reduction and lift.

This works if you are eating Protein, each meal should be at least %50 Protein. Also breakfast being protein is the most important.

I am feeling hunger these days. I know my nutritionist says that if I eat tiny bites and chew everything to death for 25 minutes this should equal and hour per 5 minutes of eating that I won't feel hunger. By this method this morning (20 minutes of eating = 4 hours) my chickpeas, red bell peppers and 1/4 of banana should give me 4 hours of not feeling hunger. Well, it's only 10:30 AM and less then two hours since Breakfast and I could eat a cow. I am having some hot tea, which saves me because it feels like I'm full. But I could chew on something right now. It's going to be a long morning until 12:00 noon and the earliest I will allow myself to eat lunch. I am hungry!
Last night I ate a tiny slice of orange, maybe a 1/8 of an orange, with my dinner. I think I didn't chew it well enough because I was so sick. I think it got stuck. Note to self: oranges=death.
Lost 1 pound this past week. Oh well, at least I'm moving in the right direction.

@Shadow427--Yes, I can eat a bit more too. But I still get nauseous if I eat one bite too much.
I have noticed I've had some actual hunger this week. But it's PMS week, so maybe that's why.
It's sorda nice to have a little interest in food for a change, but I just don't want it to get out of control at all.
I just logged what I've eaten today, and I'm at 635 calories. It feels like I've eaten a lot though!
And I'm feeling a bit hungry now, so I'd better go eat some yogurt, I see my Protein is only at 35g.

Do you find that you can eat more food? I am worried I am stretching my pouch! But, I can eat more than I could a month ago. Mind you, I am not eating as much as I USED to eat. But, I kind of liked it when I was full after two bites.

Did you eat out? I had that happen one day last week and it was just because of Water retention due to eating out too much. (We're in the process of moving. Just got into the house on Thursday, so there have been a lot of "eating out" meals lately.) Even when you eat health when you eat out, the salt is higher and can throw your weight off.
It could also be something simple like being a little too "full" in the intestines, or having added some muscle from that great workout (including additional Fluid that builds up after a great workout to help the muscles repair).
And, last but not least, did you weigh at the same time on the same scale (and are you sure the batteries, if it has them, are still good)?
I hope it's just a fluke, but even if it's not, and you know you're eating right and exercising, just stay the course. It will resolve itself. Get a "dammit doll" to get the frustration out and keep going. (I wonder how many calories you can burn beating up a "dammit doll"?)
    Peace,
    Glenda

Maybe it's in the air bc I'm up 3 lbs today. I too have upped my workouts this past week. I'm guessing Water retention due to my sore muscles screaming at me. You know logically it's impossible it's fat but it hurts to see nonetheless. Up your water intake and let's see what happens next weigh in ❤️

In my beginning 6 months of classes before surgery I was very private, and right before surgery I began to tell a few more. The response from the few more I told was so supportive and freeing I was shocked, I felt like I could be real about me and what's going on in my life, in a few cases I was told I inspired others. After surgery I decided I don't care and this is a part of me and my life journey. I'm in an office of about 75 and slowly people have asked, and I am very honest. I don't want to lie to people and them think they can have the same results with Protein drinks and a walk at lunch. People are so much more respectful about food in the office and so incredibly supportive. I have privately been told by many that I have inspired them to get back on track and get healthy. I no longer walk alone at lunch I have 2-3 who join me :-)
It inspires me to keep on track and be held accountable. And it helps others to know know what's going on. I thought I would be the same way and keep it on forever, but I am Sooo Happy I didn't!!

I have switched to spaghetti squash for Pasta and I told my household we are not going back. My BF is a marathon runner and he gets plenty of carbs from veggies and things. the Pasta and rice is just not needed, WLS person or not. I do not understand why doctors would recommend going back on carbs, knowing for many of us they are addictive and really our body does not need refined sugar or flour.
