  1. Hmmmm I might actually like the change. The old fiber in them was HIGHLY processed chemically:

    http://blog.fooducate.com/2013/12/30/are-quest-bars-really-as-nutritious-as-claimed/

And the source of the big lawsuit:

So I'm game for the change.

Thank you for the info. I have much more reading to do. The taste is growing on me. But I am still very sad that my old ones are gone.

  2. Thanks. I really needed that. I have Isopure but it tastes so sweet. I guess I'll go back to that. It was keeping me full.

I had a hard time with that one, but I was told over ice (watered down) it is better.

costco has Premier and let me tell you I am VERY talented at mixing things up with them. I have been drinking them for over a year and a half twice a day and I am not sick of them yet. :-)

I also tried Inspire, its a bariatric company. They are more expensive but I liked them a lot, mixed either in Water or unsweetened vanilla almond milk (30 cals a cup)

  3. I am post op day six today of my gastric bypass. Is it normal to crave what my family is eating this early? When reading about other post ops they all say that they don't want food. I'm drinking carnation instant breakfast and Special K shakes for my Protein. I also eat yogurt and take my Vitamins but sometimes I get so hungry in the evenings. This is somewhat harder than I thought. I'm so scared of messing up.

I drink and have drank Premier Protein, it has a much higher Protein content (fills you up and really helps with EVERY thing to have high protein). You also want to watch the calories and sugar in the other Protein Shakes. There are many other good bariatric protein supplements that have much better numbers and will keep you much more satisfied.

  4. I took my family to the seminar, and they were a little more scared than before. But after a lot of questions and arguments and a lot of tears on my end I told them I was doing this and they could either support me or not. In the end I had surgery and some were more supportive than others, but after I am still me. I am still their family and they love me. Maybe that part of my life I just don't share as much with but truthful I talk about what I want and don't care. I have been very successful and am so incredibly healthy there is nothing they can say. What? It won't work....really? because I lost 115lbs. you wont be healthy, really because my labs are more healthy than EVER and defiantly more healthy than yours.......still have more to say?? how's that diet coming...again.

People often don't like change and it is a fear of the unknown. Not only the risk of surgery but the unknown of how things will turn out. You changing your lifestyle and being successful sometimes intimidates others.

There are so many possibilities, but in the end you need to do it for you and no one else.

  5. poached egg or very soft moist scrambled. the goal is to not be rubbery. I made one over easy once and cooked the white a little too much. I threw it out and started over. It is not worth the tummy ache to save one darn egg. I did wonderful with eggs but I made them very moist. Scrambled eggs I always mixed unsweetened vanilla almond milk to puff them up and keep them moist.

It took a lot of practice but a poached egg is heavenly.

That far out I would only be eating 1 egg and if you can't finish it, that is okay. eat slowly and small bites chewing until you can't chew any more, wait, then try and other bite. as soon as you have a full feeling, stop eating.

  6. @@cmhueto I am the founder and admin for the FB groups, it is a closed group because if I make it secret I have to be "friends" with every one to be able to add them. With it being a closed group people can search for it and seek out the support. Yes IF someone wants to search for the group to see the list of (over130 members) to see your name then yes they can. But NO they can not see anything that is said or that goes on in the group. I do have some member of the

If you would like to join search FB for "San Diego Kaiser Bariatric WLS support group" or "San Diego Pacific Bariatric support group" you should get a message from me (Kendra) asking how you heard about the group and if you are pre or post op. These simple questions help me to weed out people that are not interested in the group but just trying to troll.

also your calorie intake looks about right for 12 weeks out. I know it is hard for people to fathom pre-op but your calories for the first 6 months or so are very low. Your main focus is on that Protein shake and your fluids. I still drink 2 shakes a day. I also go to Kay's nutrition class often, she helped me to feel confident that I was doing things right at each phase. Kay Rethwisch 858-573-5229 you can also call Pacific Bariatric any time you don't know if something is right or if you are not feeling quite right. the post-op questions number is 619-298-9931
