Ndipilato got a reaction from hcabrooks197 in Protein Supplements
I am having surgery April 2. I am currently test tasting Protein drinks and having a really really hard time with the taste! I have always been a VERY picky eater too!!
What is everyone's favorites? What is the serving size, calories, & grams of Protein in each serving? Why is it your favorite and is there an after taste?

Ndipilato got a reaction from SugarTea in What was your breaking point?
I have been thinking about it for years and seeing myself in pictures was too much so I was NEVER in any photos with my kids! We were looking through pics one day and my daughter said something about me not being in the pics and I realized, my daughters were gonna look through these pics one day and think I was absent in their lives because I was always the one behind the camera out of shame!! I am being sleeved in a week and a half and am looking forward to lots of pics this summer with my girls!!

Ndipilato got a reaction from SpecialNewMe in First post-op appt=SUCCESS
Had my first post op appt today. I am 3 wks 1 day post sleeve. I have lost just under 27 lbs since surgery. The PA was shocked, she was sure I had surgery a few months ago!
Between what I lost during the 4 months before surgery and since I have already lost almost 44% of my excess weight. (Too bad they didn't get me back is August when I started losing weight)
Everything looks wonderful and I am returning to work next week (could have gone back at 2 wks but being a nurse and the only RN with over 45 patients, opted for 4wks off) my next follow up isn't until July and the PA stated she thinks I will drop a couple sizes by them, I just started fitting I to size 10 jeans so curious to see where I am the
So excited and happy with how well I am feeling not just physically but mentally as well!!!

Ndipilato got a reaction from ajs in Anyone having the sleeve in april?!
I was sleeved the 2nd and since around the 6th haven't had any pain and am feeling fine! No issues getting my Protein or liquids in. The last 2 days have had no energy but up til then was doing yard work and walking over 4 miles a day. Think I just exhausted myself doing to much!

Ndipilato got a reaction from LessofApril in Shopping for a new body is really hard
I so agree! I can tell I have lost weight only when I put clothes on but not by looking at myself! I am only 2 wks post op. But in august I was 296 and surgery day I was 238 and today I was 219. I know there has to be a difference but just amazing me that I know I have a ways to go but still have the "I'm huge" mentality!

Ndipilato got a reaction from Angi~2014 in diet pepsi lovers?
I was the same way with diet mt dew. I don't drink coffee and work overnights and used to drink at least 1L just at work! I easily drank 3-4L a day. I drank it right up til April 1st and was sleeved the 2nd.
Just know there is hope. As I said sleeved April 2nd and haven't even thought about drinking a Dt dew let alone craved it!
It will be ok . Just think of the "sacrifice" no Dt Pepsi for a healthier, skinnier, happier you!!

Ndipilato got a reaction from Miss Mac in Showering after Surgery
I had surgery on Wednesday April 2, came home the 4th, & showered Saturday the 5th! I felt soooo much better after I showered. The Water didn't hurt my incision but I was super careful not to "rub" the incisions and patted them dry afterwards! I am almost 2 wks now and the steri strips have fallen off and my incisions look fabulous, 3 out of the 5 are barely even noticeable.

Ndipilato got a reaction from NMJG in Mini non scale victories :)
I am only 1 1/2 wks post op and down almost 16 lbs since surgery. But got in my car today and had to move the seat up 1 notch cuz felt like my upper body was a mile from the strafing wheel and when I looked down I could see the crutch of my jeans instead of my belly!!!

Ndipilato got a reaction from butterflypinup in What you wished you had known before being sleeved?!?!?
I like the idea of this thread! I am only 6 days port op but will say from reading through this site have not had to much unexpected!
The possible only thing I either didn't think of, didn't read, or just didn't pay attention to is hiccups! I read posts on gas and burping every time you drink and what not but I get the hiccups frequently now. Thankfully they only last like 2/3 actual hiccups because they are moderately painful!
Honestly the hardest thing for me is the head hunger when fixing my kids dinner! I start really wishing I could eat something and then have to step back and think is that my head or my stomach & it is always my head! But am grateful for this happening now too because when I am able to consume good again, I can use this experience to draw from and whether or not to eat
Good luck to those going in soon!!!

Ndipilato got a reaction from SparkleCat in Anyone having the sleeve in april?!
Good luck to all of you guys getting sleeved this month! I was just sleeved the 2nd and the first few days were a lil rough from recovering from anastesia but now being 4 days out I am feeling great! Very little pain, able to drink without any issue other than burping, tolerating my Protein, and walked a mile yesterday and today!
I am so happy for those of you that will be coming to this "side" soon! I know not all surgeries and recoveries are the same but if anyone has questions... I will gladly help and answer what I can .

I understand your neves! I don't have my surgery til tomorrow and am not yet sure what time I have to be at the hospital, they have until 3 today to let me know, but I am actually glad I work over nights cuz it is keeping me busy but I am a lil ball of energy because my nerves are getting the best of me! I can't wait to begin my "new" life! I know once I wake up from the surgery, no matter how I feel, I will be better cuz it will at least be over with so to say!! Good luck! Let us all know how you do!
