The first week for me was the toughest but each week gets better. I'm super excited that I chose this healthy path. I'm 3 weeks post op and so happy for a new chance at living. Congrats on your sleeve.

Best decision I've ever made my ONLY regret is that I didn't do it sooner!!! Some tips: sip, sip, sip! Walk, Walk, Walk! When cleared, buy yourself a membership to a gym and go. Good luck & keep us posted!

Thank you all for the positive words. I'm home and healing. Definitely not a piece of cake but I'm home. Wasn't too bad and if it wasn't for the reaction I have the general anesthesia, I think I'd been fine. Much better today. No where near Water or Protein goals but I think that's normal (I hope) for the first week. Ready to lose! Let's go!

Just had my surgery done on Feb 24th. I also had similar feelings before my surgery but I then I remembered my obesity is killing me anyways, a slow death. When I get older I can be put in a nursing home, diabetic with arthritis and who knows what else! A burden to my family and friends. It's normal to be nervous, worry about long term effects. It's been a tough few weeks but I still don't regret it. I was going down a wrong path, I needed help and decided to change. I lost 10 lbs on the pre op diet, then I lost 12 lbs my first week after surgery. I am already building back up my self confidence I know in a couple of months I will be sexy again... Hahaha
Btw I was on my period the day of my surgery. It's not a big deal, your nurses will be great!
    Good luck

    Hello to all of you,
There are always posts on here about complications, problems and regrets but they are few compared to the posts of success, excitement and happiness over the results of WLS. Right now you are more sensitive to those negative posts and that is okay. You have to be realistic and know that anybody could have complications, its just a possibility that comes with surgery. Statistically, chances are in your favor that everything will be okay but every once in awhile something happens. Be honest and open with your surgeons about any issues you have that might complicate the surgery so preparations can be taken before hand. If you have done your homework and you have prepared correctly you will have no problems with your surgery. Keep focused on the possibilities of better health, significant weight loss, more energy and a more active life style. Are the risks worth that? Only you can answer that question for yourself. Whatever you choose, I wish you luck. As for me, I will be 4 weeks out on Monday the 10th and I could not be happier. This is much easier than I thought it would be and I have no results. Best of luck and happiness to all of you.

Hi all my name jenny and I love in the N.Y area. I was sleeved on 2/24/14 so I'm one week out today. Hallelujah! So glad for this forum to assist me on this journey.
My first week was a little rough but with Gods grace I survived. Yes, it does get better. I have no regrets because at the end of the day I'm gonna be healthier than I've ever been.
My sister and cousin were both sleeved on 2013 an were my motivation to getting healthy. I'm so excited for this new chapter in my life and pray for the best for everyone else on this path.
Will keep you all posted on my progress.

I'm on day seven. Feeling pretty good. Easier to swallow now and very little pain- except for an awful pinched nerve in my neck. Not sure if that's related to surgery or not. Just tried a cream Soup for lunch and could only eat 1/4 cup before feeling too full. Having trouble getting all of the Water in. So far I've lost 23 lbs since starting the 2-week pre-op shakes.< /p>

You are doing super!! It's still hard for me to get in all the pureed Protein and veggies I'm supposed to have. Many times I don't since I am so full.... I started my journey with the nutritionist in August 2013. I have lost 45 pounds total. 13 pounds since my sleeve 1/23/14. I feel great! I am off my blood pressure medicine and that really makes it all worthwhile. I have weighed the same weight since Sunday so I'm getting a little frustrated. However I am choosing to dwell on how good I feel. Plus people are really starting to notice.

Welcome and congratulations on your sleeve. As I was told by my surgeon hydration is most important the first two weeks, so sip, sip, sip. I am 31/2 weeks out and am only managing 40 gm Protein. The burping is hard. Sometimes I have to stand up and rub my tummy like a baby lol. It gets better.

It only gets bigger when the swelling subsides about 90 days Post Op, That's when your stomach is healed from the surgery.
I began feeling a difference a couple weeks ago and i'm 8 weeks Post Op this week. It just depends on what i'm eating as well. I don't eat beef. I stick with fish and chicken. Any meat i chew and becomes bigger than what it was when it went in, doesn't get swallowed. It would take up too much room in my sleeve. So I would rather have ground turkey and fish. Something i can mash with my tongue and get a healthy portion size in..
Even if it did stretch out, it would never go back to the size it was. Perhaps an intake of 8-10 oz, and that's max.
