I also have started taking prilosec per surgeons orders. It seems to be helping a little but is heart burn and acid reflux the same thing? I know its a dumb question...actually no question is dumb here we are all new sleevers with a million questions lol
I will have to ask my Dr when I see him thursday.

Today it seems like there is a lot of gas pressure right under my rib cage. I can feel it gurgling in there and rising up through my tummy. I keep trying to burp it out. And oh Yah; I'm down 7 lbs since the surgery!! Whoo hoo.
I have been walking three times a day for 20 minutes each time and I'm wondering if that's what is making all the gas come out.
Oh ya and my last pee was lighter yellow instead of dark yellow! WIN!!

Hi girls! Today was a good day! After getting in the scale this morning and gaining I turned the day around. Starting puréed foods definitely helped! I also walked 2 miles (well after a long nap). Here's to feeling better and moving on!

That stinks! My nutritionist told me to go back one stage in the diet if this happens. For example, if you are on all liquids go back to Clear Liquids or if you are on purees go back to all liquids. Just for a day or two until you start feeling better. Then, slowly add in one food at a time so you can see if there's a certain food that you aren't tolerating well. I'm still on Clear Liquids so I can't offer anything from experience.....but that's what I wrote down from our visit. Hope you feel better.

Hello ladies! Checking in from Yosemite village. This first experience traveling has had it's pros and cons. I brought Protein Shakes, hummus and cottage cheese with me. The family just left for a hike and I stayed behind to read my book and relax. We were just here a few weeks ago and I was able to get my hiking fix. Can't wait to heal and hit the trails again!

I am very short waisted and I always felt the pressure on my bladder; but now I don't and its awesome. I am not getting that much fluids in ; I was only able to do about 36 oz yesterday of Water. I hope the not needing to pee isn't related to dehydration

And now it's time for a TMi moment......
I wonder if anyone outside of Bariatric land knows what NSV stands for? Probably not. That's a "non-scale victory" for those of you not in the know
So it dawned on me yesterday that a serious issue I was being plagued with in middle-age has disappeared! Prior to surgery, I constantly felt like I had to pee! Sometimes I would rush to the bathroom only to have a small amount come out. It felt like something was sitting on top of my bladder. I would pee and 2 minutes later I felt like I had to pee again! It was a frustrating cycle and my doctor and I concluded I had organ prolapse resulting from age and my muscles weakening from childbirth.
Post surgery, the problem is GONE. The only thing I can conclude is my stomach was sitting on top of my bladder. With most of it gone, it's allowed things to shift around inside of me and now everyone seems to have their own "personal space" within and are happy!
I am thrilled! Just in time for a long weekend car ride to Yosemite! Don't worry girls, I won't be hiking any major trails this trip. I plan on finding a nice place to plop myself down and reading a book while the rest of my adventurous family hikes.
Can I get a shout out for bladder control?!?! Awesome!!!

Welcome Heidi. You have come to the right place for sharing or should I say over sharing. Lol. I think anything goes in here since we are all in it together and here to support.
New thing for me. Let Greek yogurt get room temperature. Add 3oz Water so it's thinner than a milkshake and eat. 5 times a day. 60 Protein and extra 15 oz Fluid. I'm going to get bored soon. I just need the food dreams to stop. Lol
    Just keep swimming swimming swimming.

I think staying connected with others is key to this being successful. We are going to hit bumps and no one wants to feel alone. The stigma that can come from wls still can be trying and I for one need like minded positive people in my life. I'm up for any topic too. If I don't say it or ask it how am I to know if someone's riding the porcelain hell train with me. Buahaha! This is my go to lifesaver and since we are all discovering our bodies at the same time what better people to share everything with.
I have decided that my crappy start today is because I think everything is settling internally to where the space of my stomach used to be. I'm feeling a lot better the more time goes by. Biggest complaint at this point is energy. I do my treadmill but time I'm on it is getting shorter and right after lights out.
I have a question though. So now that passing gas is a relief is this a forever thing or just an body adjusting thing? :/ I have so many people trying to come see me and I'm embarrassed but if they know me they will get over it as fast as I do. Lol
Thank you girls for sharing too!

Blue is right. I'd say the first 24 were awful and then the next two terrible. Today started off badly but I actually feel pretty good right now.
I think anything is possible that you set your kind to. Hard to break old habits as I'm finding tonight.
Don't forget the gasx strips. They are my go to item at this point. I did bring a pillow but I ended up using a super soft throw rolled up over my big incision when coughing and throwing up. It helped a ton. Not too bulky like the pillow.
I set a timer at seven minutes now and when not feeling full I drink 1/2 oz of Water. I'm doing pretty good today. Got like 50 oz in.
First day of Protein is why I think I feel so much better. I just have to remind myself this isn't a race and I'm not like anyone else. We are individuals and unique. I'm down ten lbs but I expect that to slow down now.

Sitting in my room. Pain was worse than I thought in big incision area at first. I'm like a racehorse in the halls. Okay I'm lying. I'm like a old woman but I've done five laps. I can't do the pain Syrup so no more pain meds for me as of midnight. I'm okay with that. My surgery got bumped to 3 so it's only been a little over twelve hours. No gas pain burping or the other so I'm a bit worried. I have successfully sipped five ounces and kept them down which is amazing because I kept throwing up after the anti nasea meds. Been sleeping good though. Glad to hear you are all doing pretty well. Bug hugs.

Yes, be very careful as the gas isn't always gas sometimes it's a little surprise (not fun).

    Hey ladies!! I was sleeves April 16th too! Thanks for finding me!! Anywho, I posted this somewhere else and I'll post it here;
Hey everybody! I thought I would share my journey and keep it all here! I hope y'all don't mind!!
I am a pretty laid back lady who has had a love affair with Oreos that just went too damn far. I weighed in at 299 (although my highest was 331 but I was 9 months pregnant. I should count it, huh?) and I had two kiddos as home that needed a fit, healthy momma.
So I said "No more!!" to those oreos and signed up for the seminar. That seminar was a funny place. You look at smaller people there and wish you were their size. You are thankful you aren't the biggest one there, but you know it's only a matter of time.
Fast forward I do the pre-op diet. Mine was more of a south beach (closest to beach anything I wanted to be around) and knocked off 10 pounds in 2 weeks!! What what!!
I had my surgery on 4/16/14 weighing in at 289. Post op, I dry heaved a lot!! In my mind, I envisioned my little stomach getting split open and my insides oozing and me dying. That didn't happen. But, it felt like it! Dry heaving sucks!!
I have been doing the liquid two week portion and now am on day 6. I weigh 279! Whoooo hooo! I sometimes wonder if this will really work, and am I destined to fail like I did all my other diets. It's hard to accept that your life will change.
My hardest problems are 1. Having Protein available at all times so I get it in and 2. Not gulping Water. I'm in Texas. I sweat like a whore in church after a really bad night! I'm a gulper. It hurts too when I do!
I know this may get old but I weigh in every morning! I'll let y'all know how I did!!!
That's my story. I wish I had trouble drinking but I don't. It scares me a lil. What of my stomach expands? I get full after a few sips and I burp but I can take most things down, being Protein shakes, broths, jellos, Crystal light, etc. so far so good. I need to do better about measuring! I just kinda swig here and there. I'll work on that tomorrow!!!

Hi everyone! I wish I would of found this before my surgery. I was sleeved on April 16th. Horrible nausea and vomiting, spent 3 days in the hospital. I'm at the one week mark tomorrow and feel SO much better!! It was great reading your journeys. Makes me feel like I'm not alone!

I had the sleeve on the 14th.. For the next couple weeks I'm allowed to have; cottage cheese, sugar free pudding and Jello, greek yogurt and Protein shakes.. For people who have had the surgery already, how do you handle this stage? I really just want to add things..
For others who are getting ready to go in to surgery, good luck! Congrats! Its a great feeling to watch the weight start to fall off! With the two week liquid diet I have shedded 25pounds! Just remember to breath, sip sip sip and walk walk walk. The more I walked the better I felt!

Melodica I totally agree with you. Everyone is different and has their own wls journey.
As for myself, I cant stand Protein shake it makes my tummy feel like crap. No vomiting but some nausea for sure. My tummy is very sensitive I have to sleep on my back cause it hurts too much to sleep on tummy or on my side. My wounds are steal healing and hurt as well. When I sit my tummy feel uncomfortable most of the time. My energy level is super LOW!
Omg talk about a good venting session lol
I know it will get better and easier. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I guess my recovery will take a little longer cause I had a hiatal hernia repair as well.
Happy venting folks and wishing every a recovery asap lol
