  1. I had my first appointment last week on wednesday. It took about 30 minutes. the dr explained the prociedure and talked to me about why i wanted which surgery to see if it was a good fit for me. I will be done with my last pre--op class/apt middle of next month. and should have my surgery between the middle of may and early june. i've heard people waiting between 6 and 9 months to get it all done due to insurance requirements. but i have tricare so the 6 month weight thing isnt required. 3-4mo process for me.

    Vit E

I want to avoide any scaring as much as possible. I know that after i start healing enough that i can take off the bandages, ill be rubbing coconut oil on my skin, and probably taking Vit. E. However-- i want to know if i can start taking Vit E now to get it built up in my system before the surgery. I know that some doctors dont allow it, and if my doc says no i wont but anyone have any thougth's on this?
  4. well technically my "process" started yesterday lol with my first surgeon appointment. so thats not an issue. but i continue to gain weight no matter what i do. when i was on bc it stopped but when i got off, i could eat nothing and workout 24/7 and still gain fat... it sucks but thats why im in this mess and why i am going through with the surgery.

no problem. im hoping that if i start taking vit e oil immediatly, and doing the rubbing it will help tremendously. but im also hoping that the surgery will be laproscopic not open.

This is something i learned while ttc. it can take anywehre from 3-6 months for your body to make a stockpile from pill nutrients. so you start taking pills 3-6 months prior to ttc to give your body the best supply for the job. the same would be true for this, just getting it in your body to help it heal from the inside--instead of producing a baby of course lol. BUT they say not to take any fish oil or viteman e oil before surgery so, for now, i'd start with just rubbing it on your skin. when i take a shower, i use a homemade sugar scrub which is 1 part sugar to one part olive oil. it helps with circulation. and end my shower with rubbing coconut oil on my skin like a moisturizer. but i assume you could do the same with Vitamin e oil, at least till after the surgery.

    when is your surgery?
  11. tricare dosent have any time limits or anything required like that. so once i got into the surgeons office, they handed me a list of appointments i need (wellness center, nutrition, psych evaluation ect) and told me to finish those and get sig's and when i am done with those, to come back. They said it takes about a month to do the appointments. so i called and scheduled my appointments, the nutrition takes 4 weeks to complete, since i'll be finishing that in late April and they are currently scheduling 2 to 4 weeks out for the OR they think i'll be in the OR in late may early June. Im excited to get this started. i was hoping to get the nutrition and everything done this month but no appointments avalible till later in the month and next month.
  12. RICE Rest Ice Compress Elevate So just rest as much as you can to help it heal. Use ice for 20 minutes on 20 off. if your more than a day out 20 minutes ice then 20 minutes ice back and forth. take tylonal to help, along with the ice. When your not doing that just compress the area. and its already elevated above your heart. thats helped me in the past even with a pinched nerve.

Confessions of a Pre Op Shopaholic

Hydra Coach Water bottle. Its great because they say you need a lot of water after and it keeps track of how much you are drinking. I bought a fitness and food tracking journal those are the two things i bought.

  20. I started reading this book on gastric bypass (well its more of someones experience) she even includes details about her emotions. and i read somewhere there are phases or something?? anyways. My favorite snack in the whole world is popcorn. I have a cheapie little air popper, and a popcorn bin from the movie theater (that we kept and wash out) i pop popcorn into it and add popcorn oil and popcorn salt and it taste just like movie theater popcorn except its warm and fresh. i LOVE it the best. hell one day i want a theater in my home with a giant popcorn maker. but then this thought came to me. I will never be able to eat popcorn again. well at least not the way i do now. and its depressing. I know i will go through with this. and im sure later my thoughts will change but im almost grieving the loss of my favorite foods that i will surly miss for a while. popcorn, 11 oz sirloine stake--medium rare. french fries..... i know they got me into this mess but its hard and i havnt been to my consult yet! eek....

    R.I.P. Popcorn

"Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." --susan maria leach before & after, second: living and eating well after weight-loss surgery. That's a line that is helping me. Im going back and forth. is this worth it? maybe i havent tried hard enough. ect. but i know that in the end it wont matter that i cant stuff my face anymore. it wont matter that i wont have a buffet infront of me. ill have a body i've always wanted, and the health ive never had. but this food grief is getting me. i was grieving Texas roadhouse last night. and popcorn today. how long does it take to get over this? Ive started prep work in my kitchen. i bought Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: over 140 Delicious Low-Fat, High-Protein recipes to Enjoy in the Weeks, Months and Years after surgery by Patt Levine and Michele Bontempo-Saray. I started stocking my pantry according to this book so that afterwords i can live from this book for a while. (some of the recipes look amazing!) I reorganized my kitchen so that everything would be easy access. and started getting rid of junk. (though i cant seem to push myself to get rind of my 8 boxes of thin mints. guess those will be a treat later on or something or something i can give to family.)

    Question about Fort Carson

Well i went into the surgery clinic in the hospita, this morning to get copies of all the paperwork, and got myself on the list for next months wls support group (which aparently they require) they're estimating my surgery date for the beginning of may. so ill be doing that. DH's sgt is getting a leave packet together with open dates so when i have my surgery he can basically just have it ready to go already approved and all. Im excited about this because i am finally going to lose the weight! but at the same time i think im going to have to hold a funeral for mexican food. (like taco's and steak fajita's that are all calorie and no good for me lol)
