At three weeks I was still on full liquids. I didn't break things down into meals and Snacks because it took all day, sipping every chance I got from the moment I opened my eyes until the moment I fell asleep to get in all my Protein and fluids. And yes, I felt stuffed all the time. Once I started pureed food I ate maybe a couple tablespoons in the afternoon. Anything more than that and I couldn't meet my protein and fluid goals. It was 4 months before eating/drinking wasn't such a chore

Sometimes the fat free (yuck!) versions have added sugar. I tend to go with full fat sour cream and cheeses. Fat free sour cream is nasty.

you don't necessarily have to, but it helps cut back on calories and fat and such. There are some things I find that the light version tastes nearly just as good as the regular and there are some things that I will absolutely NOT substitute like sour cream or mayo. I would rather use a little less, but the real stuff.

I hate to be a "negative nancy" but I am so ready for this ill feeling to be over. I researched and researched this surgery but never knew I would feel this sick. 4 weeks post op and I am still struggling with liquids. Protein? Ha that's a joke. I we a teaspoon of tuna and ended up in pain with vomiting.
Down 40 pounds but so not worth it. I use to swim and enjoy life and now I'm too embarrassed to be around anyone. I'm physically able to go to work but I don't feel I would be as productive.
I'm dizzy all the time, exhausted and thirsty. My poor husband must be tired of all the suppositories and enemas. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I am 18 days post op and I am having poop issues. I have not gone in 4 days?! I'm eating mostly liquids and mushy foods but have had some soft fish. I'm getting nervous. Plus the scale hasn't moved in those 4 days and I'm sure that's why. Anyone else have this problem?

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone. I might not post often but I read everyone's posts non stop. I was sleeved on 4/27 Truth be told I am still scared that this won't work. That I will be the one freak of nature that doesn't lose weight and get healthy again. I keep thinking what I am feeling post op could not be normal. But seeing everyone's posts helps me realize we are all different but all still so the same and every day is a new chapter in this journey. It took TEN MONTHS for me to get through my bariatric process. Ten months of feeling defeated and like this was never going to happen. And then it finally did. What an emotional roller coaster. I am so glad to have found this app. Even if it was just a few days before surgery. All my questions that I forget to ask my surgeon are answered in some form here. When I have anxiety with thoughts racing through my head, I just pop on here and then I look at the clock and realize I have been reading about people's journeys for hours. I find myself hopeful and positive once again. I return to work tomorrow 5 days post op. I know i can handle this now. And if ever I feel like I can't, it's nice having somewhere to turn to.

I had the pain in the center of my chest with every sip as well. It was my esophagus constricting. It lasted about two weeks until the swelling went down. Just hang in there. The first few days are ROUGH, but it's all only temporary.

Seriously, you really need to let go of any expectations of amount of weight loss in the first month to six weeks when your body's primary goal is to heal from the insult of surgery.
Second, put away the damned scale. Follow your postop instructions. Get in your Fluid and your Protein. Avoid exercising too much at this point, remember that your body is still stressed from healing. You won't be getting in enough calories to support much in the way of exercise.
What I personally found was that my weight loss ramped up after Week 4. I lost before that, certainly, but my surgeon has me increasing calories gradually, and it wasn't until I got to 700-800 calories/day that the losses were consistent. I'll move toward solids (from softs) heading to Week 8, and from Week 8-12 she wants me to increase to 900-1200 calories/day and keep it there.
Keep doing what you're doing, except the worrying. You can dropkick that. You aren't the first person who has wondered "but what if I'm the only person out there who will fail at WLS?" You won't be. We promise.

I agree with the other member who say be more concerned with liquids than Protein right now.
And don't stay completely way from fats like 2% or whole milk, etc. after you get away from Clear Liquids. Your body needs some fats to burn the weight off.
chicken broth, lived on that for a long while and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein products. Some of those store bought things are just inedable.
Sixteen months out now and and am living on cottage cheese with peaches or blueberries, sliced cheese, chicken breasts, and almonds, etc. Down 90 lbs to a BMI of 25.3.
I don't eat meals, I eat when I am hungry and stop the second that I feel full, even if it's after just three bites.
But, I digress. Just get your liquids in and as much protien as you can.
I have discovered a GREAT product that I get at Walmart called 'Super PROTEIN ultimate recoevery fuel' by BODY FORTRESS, little 2.9 fl oz tubes of fruit Punch, 26 GRAMS of PROTEIN!, Box of six only $10.00, one of those in the morning and you have half your protein already.
But sip, sip. sip is what your body needs to heal.
    Good luck, Steve

    pet195959 got a reaction from Monie717 in Meat ?
I was sleeved on 4/07/16. I am having problems eating almost everything I eat feels stuck in my chest area. I am learning to take about 3 tiny sips of Water every 10 minutes. When I eat I eat about 3 to 4 tbsps. of food that is about all I can have. I eat this every 2 hours. I tried the refried Beans and that was a big no, no for me. If I eat like this I can keep it down, otherwise, it comes back up. I was in the hospital for 6 days and it was supposed to be the day of surgery and go home the next day. My doctor is wonderful I have no complaints. On the fifth day, they took me off all medications and within 12 hours I was able to go home. Would I do this again absolutely the majority of people do not have this problem. My future is going to be bright and it is defiantly worth it. In a little while, I will be better and be grateful. I will be eating baby food, mushy food, Protein shakes and Water till I am better.

That's exactly what I did. For the first six months, I only weighed in at the doctor's office when I had appointments. It was great -- I could feel my body getting smaller, and people commented on it, but if I ever had a stall, I didn't know about it. No stress. I highly recommend it!

I just had surgery on 4/15 and have decided that I'm not going to weigh myself everyday. I know ..... crazy right!!!! I had surgery to become healthy - period and the last thing I need is another thing in my life to stress about. I'm going to trust in the program and see what happens. I'm not saying I'm not ever getting on a scale again but for these first few months it's going to be only at doctors visits. Anybody else out there not weighing themselves every 10 minutes to see how much weight they have lost?
