I have also always been a big Water drinker. I always have my insulated glass full on my desk at work, and have one that I keep full at home, a great habit that is serving me well now post-op! I am only 3 weeks post-op, but I am able drink pretty normal. It seems like Water and liquids go through pretty fast.
I drink a Protein drink (mixed with water 12oz) while getting ready for work. A glass of water or 20oz Vitamin Water Zero between 8:00 and 11:00, another glass or two after lunch, and I pretty much already have my 64 oz fluids in before I even get home from work. I don't even bother tracking my Fluid intake, I know it is 80oz or more daily.

I found out that because I had lost my weight so fast that I had caused gallstones to form. I had my surgery in June 2014 and had my gallbladder removed in Jan 2015. My back was killing me. I have a lot of sinus drainage due to my allergies and that makes me sick to my stomach so I'm not eating as much.

That sounds like a plan!! At the end of the first day, I am definitely more exhausted than usual, and my whole body feels weak. I came home and just had a half cup of chicken broth with roasted veggies/herbs flavoring and was the happiest I've been all day lol

Love this thread... only a few places or people you can talk about things like this with.
I met a new man around the time I hit goal weight and at first when we were intimate, I was really self concious -- only about my saggy stomach. I had a ton of stretch marks before surgery from pregnancies, so it's really the only place I have lots of sag and wrinkling/scarring. So, at first, it was lights out, or keeping a cami on... stuff like that. He never really asked about the weird eating habits (super small portions, picking through stuff on the plate for Protein, appetizers for meals and still taking home half). I think he just figured that's how I stayed at a slim, healthy weight.
After dating for about 2 months, I told him about having surgery and losing over 70 pounds. He was like "Wow, good for you!" It was a total non-issue with him. He was a little shocked when I told him I had only had the surgery 7 months before. He thought it had been years.
He asks me every now and then questions about before, like was I active then or able to hike/climb, stuff like that. I showed him a few before pictures and he was like "Wow, you look like a new woman -- a beautiful new woman". It stings a little when he says stuff like that because I know with him, he would not have been attracted to me. He's very fit and healthy and active and just doesn't go for heavier women. I don't judge him for that because it's just the way he feels but it still stings to remember how unattractive and undesirable I felt at my prior weight.
You're right... horny men DON'T even notice a lot of our flaws. They certainly don't focus on flaws like we seem to meditate on. I read a dating blog and the guy frequently says no matter what you look like when you wake up, you're beautiful to us because you're waking up beside us.
Good for you recognizing this and talking to your therapist to help overcome it. It may talk a while but maybe someday we can really feel that our "flaws" are just proof we're human and that we've done work to help us lead healthier lives... they are not just battle scars but victory scars!

LOL!! this is so true! I still have a hard time not going to the plus sized section of a store - old habits die hard - i picked up a shirt the other day and it was a size 4x and i thought it was a pretty top - i started to put it in my buggy and my husband took it out of my hand and just looked at me like REALLY?! it took me a minute for it to sink in LOL! But it is a great feeling when it does...

    1. Your co-worker heard a strange noise and doesn’t bat an eye…knowing it was your stomach.
Patients often ask me why their new pouch makes odd gurgling noises. It could be too big of bites or eating too quickly. It could also just be your stomach moving around and making noises for all to hear
    2. You have a space heater under your desk in the middle of July.
It may be in part to losing some “insulation” but many postop wls patients are colder than they’ve ever been using more blankets at night and space heaters to keep warm.
    3. Your alarm just went off for the third time today to remember your next Vitamin.< /b>
While bariatric Vitamins have become much more simpler in recent years, it still takes reminders to get in your vitamins. Your family might even hear the alarm and hand you your calcium!
    4. Protein is always first on your mind at your meals – it might as well be plastered inside your forehead.
Protein…protein..where’s the protein? Protein is what fills you up and keeps you full! You get the most out of your surgery when you focus on lean and solid protein sources.
    5. Your waitress keeps asking if the food is okay. And if you’re sure you don’t want a drink.
When you can only eat an ounce or so, the wait staff may think something is wrong with the food. And what do you mean you don’t want anything to drink??
    6. Your pants are barely holding on but you’re still holding off to go shopping.
Just make sure you don’t carry a heavy object and walk up a flight of stairs. At least not around anyone
    7. Speaking of shopping, you still go to the plus sized section first out of habit.
It’s hard to wrap your mind around your new body. Leave plenty of time and stay patient with yourself as you find out what size your body is. Take a good friend to be your “runner” and someone to talk it out with.
    8. You get overjoyed at the release of a new Protein Bar flavor…or a sale on your favorite Protein Bars.< /strong>
Quest® has a new flavor?!?!??! Ahhhhh!!!!!!
    9. You rejoice at the small things like crossing your legs or getting a pair of boots that zip up your calves.
Some things you’ll never take for granted again. It may seem like nothing to others, but to you it’s something big.
    10. You use lingo like “wls”…”bariatric friendly”…”pouch”…”vsg”…
You gotta know the lingo to be in the club!
    11. You smile as you think of how far you’ve come and get excited to think of where you’ll be soon.
Patients wonder why they didn’t have their surgery sooner.

It sounds to me like you are doing great! I was told to try to get 100 grams of Protein in as soon as possible, but there was no real expectation that I would be doing so within the first couple of weeks. Also, at 8 days post-op, I was proud to get over 450 calories a day. Prioritize Water, then protein. Don't worry too much about your exact calorie totals. And remember all your vitamins/meds. You are doing really really well!

@@txfirefly979 sorry for the late response. Make sure you have chap stick! All I had time for was chap stick and my phone. I was stuck in the recovery unit over night, so I never had my bag with me. No real need for a robe or slippers or shoes - I survived fine without them.... My lips were super chapped by next day though. Brought my old maternity clothes to change into, slip on shoes, and deodorant and a face wipe for my departure home.
Just make sure on the way home you have pain meds right before you leave the hospital for the numb feeling on the way home, a pillow to grasp around your belly or an abdominal binder which i used over my shirt to hold my stomach and incisions in place. A heating pad is great to sit on my the end of the day. And I've been living off egg drop Soup broth, diet snapple, Powerade zero, vtamin Water zero, and Jello since Friday night.

You're so close @@txfirefly979! Once you are at the hospital, the anxiety slips away.
I did pack gas x strips, but I did not use them (only one in fact) until I got home. The only thing that really helped to remove the gas was moving. Walking to and from the bathroom in the hospital or doing my trips around the floor did the best to push it out. Heating pad for my back also helped the rest leave my body. Helpful hint: do NOT trust a fart! Thank God I didn't on day 3&4 lol

You know the next time you see a person with a flat tire and you stop to see if they need help. Just think what they would say if you said... "If you use a compressor to fill that tire up you are doing it the easy way. YOU should just put your mouth on the valve stem and blow!" There are many ways to add or remove things and you have made an educated personalized plan for success. Let them blow their tire up anyway they want. Friend the proof is in the pudding.
