I was sleeved on 2/28 and last week I made calabaza con pollo, and chicken tortilla Soup without the tortilla strips. I used cumin, garlic powder, salt and pepper, Tomato sauce in both recipes. I had half of one beef and cheese enchilada too. Granted I should not have had the enchilada because it's not part of phase 3 for me. When in doubt, ask your nutritionist.

Hurting a lot and listening to my knees sounding like rice krispies every time I sat down.
That and going to the drive in movies and feeling the camping chair slowly bend closer to the ground until it wouldn't close up any more.
We wanted to go to Six Flags before school starts but I got so depressed thinking about walking, riding and just sitting while everyone had fun, we decided to cancel. And that depressed me even more. We cancelled a mini vacation because of my weight.
Been toying with the idea of WLS, but I just got sick and tired of being sick and tired, you know?

What was the final thing that you encountered that made you say this is enough? I have had numerous.
    1. Leaving a wife and 2 sons, Husbandless and fatherless.
    2. Not being able to get on amusement park rides with my sons.
    3. Not being able to take my wife to a concert, because i could not fit in a seat.
    4. Avoiding restuarant, movie theaters and sports complexes with tiny seats.
For me, walking through a a department store and some little child looking at me like im a alien had to be one the hardest things.
    Respectfully,
    Joe

OK -- I don't feel much like I have the right to start a rant since I'm still pre-op but...
WHY OH WHY would you be asking on these boards for opinions about taking some weight loss supplement you found at GNC or the Vitamin Shoppe after taking the extreme measure of having weight loss surgery??? You can believe me when I say that if after my surgery I feel like I'm not losing as I should or I stop losing all together or even start gaining weight back, my surgeon and NUT will be seeing my p*ssed off face at their doors and we will be working on a plan.
To go back to all the snake oil and supplements that never worked before surgery??? Aye-yi-yi...
    Rant over.

My surgeon told me he is removing far more bands these days than installing them.
I didn't want something foreign in my body, and even though it's not "natural," the sleeve feels more like my own body than any of the other procedures. Also, my surgeon's results for VSG and RNY are identical, but the band has a lesser success rate.
I went from a BMI of 38.2 to a BMI of 36.1 six days after surgery. I'm on my way, and starting to really appreciate (and LOVE my sleeve!

It's not common, but it's not rare, either. It's an easy fix. It was awful while it was happening. It felt like my food wouldn't move past the bottom of my throat. I took a small sip of Water and it came right back up. Then I proceeded to throw up for about an hour. I felt like I threw up a whole lot more than I ate. Steak was the culprit. I'm 4 1/2 months out, but some people can't tolerate steak even after a year, if ever. It's weird that beef Jerky (home made) doesn't bother me. Now I'm back on a Stage 1 diet for the next week at least. :-( Glad I love yogurt!
I was thinking of Tuesday evening for the group, but that's not carved in stone. Since weekends are the only time I can catch up on home and family stuff, weekends might be tough. That's not to say there couldn't be a Saturday meeting and a Tuesday meeting. You know, one month on Tuesday and one month on Saturday... It's still in the early stages of planning, but suggestions like these help a lot!

Cher40rie, did you peek in my house window ? I too have many of your symptoms. I went to the seminar in February and my first appt the end of it. I have seen Marie and Kristin monthly since . Oh I'm so excited to meet someone near me. Have you gone to any of the monthly life mtgs? If you do, perhaps we can meet up. I am ready for this life change and I am doing it to live, getting skinny is just an added bonus. Did you have the psyche eval yet? And also, the dietician workshop? Basically, is all your homework that he gave you on the sheet complete? I went to school in Utica to St. E's.. Do you have family support after the procedure?i didn't tell to many people. Just my kids, mom, BF and a Few dear friends. Maybe
We can be done the same day.
    Sorry for rambling...

My only regret is not having done this sooner. I was an excellent dieter but inevitably would go off and regain plus a little more each time. For years and years. It was all so hard all the time, the chatter in my head, the counting and measuring, the hunger. What a joy it is to be out of food jail at last!

After 27 years of "miracle" diet pills and wishful thinking, I had to face the fact that I couldn't lose weight without surgery. I believe we are all victims of marketing hype that tell us if only we had enough self-discipline, we could win the battle over weight.
But there are too many factors that come into play that over-ride self-discipline to boil it all down to just a lack of will power. We all have different genetics. I know there's a lot more at play than just genetics, but I believe it plays a big part in whether or not the body stores or burns up excess calories.

Patty, I met Simon once ..lol as a patient. I know him as a nurse. I got to see him in February. Graber wasn't going to be until April. I figured , I was that much closer. I see his office people every month. He said 2-3 days in the hospital. We have monthly, lifetime support mtg, given by patients. This last weeks one really helped me figure out if I wanted the sleeve vs the Roux NY. I'm scared as heck... But I want my life back .
