    Weight loss percentages?

Thanks for the link. They don't have the DS however it is helpful.
  2. Can anyone tell me how much they lost within the first six month, starting with day of surgery weight, as well as whether a virgin or revision surgery? Anyone know the percentages of expected weight loss within the first month? Thanks.
  3. Two years in July. No complication, just very minimal lost. I thought the sleeve would have been enough for me and didn't want malabsorption and thought the DS would have been too much. So now I realize I need it, and between the RNY and the DS, the DS is a better choice to switch to no pun intended.
  4. That's fantastic. I like the fact you guys had great communication. The doctor I switched from had me going through too much to get information, so I had to go elsewhere.
  5. Like some have said, go based on what your past history is with weight loss, and research the success rate not only at the beginning but three, four, five years out. At the time of my surgery I did not hear of many sleeve failures. I have now started to hear more people have low success rate. Of course if I was a fast loser the failure rate would not have mattered to me but it's still something to be considered. I had saw so many people losing, watching YT videos, thinking positively, thinking I would be a great loser going based on the fact that I was the active fat girl in the past, and because the initial weight loss rate was the same as with the Gastric bypass, however when it came my turn I was in the lower percent. Sucks, but that's life. Keep in mind too that all sleeves aren't done the same and I did not know that until know, however that still might not have made a difference because I was comfortable with the surgeon and he did my friend's RNY surgery over ten years ago, and she initially kept off most of the weight for the longest, and has now gained about seventy pounds back in the last two/three years. In short I would mostly go based on success rates years out, combined with personal history, and diet habits. GL
  6. I cannot remember how many times I saw my surgeon but I will be having a revision, and am switching from another surgeon that I was originally going to have my DS with. With the new doctor, I went to a group seminar first, and then will see him for a consult in two weeks. I have all my medical information, and did all my testing (the testing required from previous doctor,) I just need to see the nutritionist, and psych which I will do all the same day. So the only things I need to do next is do any extra things that he might need which I'm not sure what that will be. So far I've done my endoscopy, upper gi, blood test about two months ago, my cardiac function, and pulmonary test, as well as my PFT. Any additional information would be appreciated.

    What Insurance Do You Have?

Turns out my insurance didn't require it, and they just go with whatever the doctor wants. Which is why I decided to switch to another surgeon, as I didn't see the need to do another six months (I had WLS two years ago.) So I might be able to get my surgery sooner than I thought.

    DS vs Sleeve

There is a group for lightweights on facebook. I think the surgery you choose depends on you. I agree with what postop said. I had the sleeve, now I'm going through the process of revision. I need the malabsorption. Some people do great with all surgeries, it's about the regain, or the info years out of how much people keep it off after a certain period of time. Also know the surgeon can tailor your common channel limb to match your age, and weight needed to lose with the DS. I have seen people as light and even lighter than you get the DS. It boils down to what you are willing to do. If you can commit to the Vitamins I think it's a great option. If you don't think you need malabsorption then go for the sleeve. You can't always go with how much other people lose because with all surgeries you can be the high average of losing well, and the lower average of losing, and I was at the bottom. GL, research research research.

    What Insurance Do You Have?

I have insurance but I was looking for another with less weight management time.

    What Insurance Do You Have?

Thanks for responding. I called them up and they don't have Cigna in NY. They do have it in NJ though.
  11. So how did you prove that? food journal? Did you use the fact you had a previous surgery as proof? Other poster I had the sleeve.
  12. I'm in NYC, 39 BMI no serious comorbidities ,and I want a revision to the duodenal switch. My insurance requires six months again however I'm uncertain if they will cover it I spoke to someone on the phone and requested the written info regarding the revision. It seems unless there is something wrong they won't cover it according to the woman on the phone. So I'm going to start the process of testing but still might want to either leave current insurance or get another. I currently have Amerigroup Healthplus. So many questions I have. What insurances didn't have a wait or only required three/four months of weight management? Another question is when buying an insurance what is the average cost of the plan? Do you pay per month? If so what's average for an individual insurance. I might consider adding my toddler son to it although he has insurance. For people who have had the DS I would like to hear from you especially.
