Katie - When "falling off the wagon" the best thing to do is to climb back on and don't look back. You've done well before you can do well again. Being off schedule doesn't help. Try to stick to your routine and it helps you to keep eating your routine foods which are most likely good choices. You can do it!

I was reading your post where you said that your band surgeon provides a tummy tuck 18 months postop. That's fabulous! I've never heard of that before. I would think that would be the only lap band surgeon in Connecticut once the word got out on that. Good luck with your band.

Plateaus can be demotivating. Now it's time to get back on track. If you're not sure why you are plateauing try journalling and kick up your exercise some if you can. Another thing to try is to mix up your foods. Still make healthy choices, but different foods than what you usually eat. It sounds like you need your mind adjusted, not your band. I've said that to my band surgeon many times about myself. So, take a step back and think about all that you've accomplished and tell yourself to get back on track so that you can accomplish more. Think about it one pound at a time and I think it's less overwhelming. My weight is stable and my exercise is starting to pick up with the improvement in the weather. Saturday I took a 7 mile walk. Tonight a fellow bandster is coming over so we can walk my hill for an hour. Take care. Sue

Cindy: Thanks for the note on my picture. If you are contemplating plastic surgery and you can afford to have it done, I say go for it! It really made a big difference to me mentally to have that excess skin away from my lower abdomen. Granted, my body is still not very attractive because I have excess skin at the tops of my legs, but I wear pants all the time, so nobody can see that. I used to hate having my lap hit the tops of my legs when I sat on the toilet. I love having it gone! A woman that I know said I have the abdomen of a 17 year old! Happy B-Day. I'm sure you're feeling younger because of your weight loss. Don't beat yourself up bout not being in Onederland yet. You'll get there. Just keep on plugging away at it. I'm doing well. I'm back at work and glad to be away from the house more. I'm having a little problem with nausea and burping when I get hungry. Hi - you asked me about the cost of my tummy tuck and whether insurance covered 2/3. I had my surgery in a hospital that's in kind of a hoity-toity town and the physician's office is in that town too. I wish I'd asked for a breakdown after the billing because then I'd be sure. However, she told me that I'd just be paying the difference between the panniculectomy and an abdominoplasty which she estimated was 1/3 additional cost. I don't have that same insurance anymore, so I'm unable to get the details.

Fanny - I just saw your plastic surgery pics. Holy moly that was a big surgery. I felt pain for you when I was looking at the post op pics. I can already see some improvement, but you're going to look so great once all of the bandages are off and the bruising and swelling are gone. Rest up, heal, and take care.

Hi Sarah:

Yes, I did get alot of insurance coverage toward my tummy tuck. I had rashes under the flab that I had hanging after losing 140'ish pounds. I showed the rash to my lapband surgeon and also to the plastic surgeon. They submitted pictures to Blue Cross saying that it was medically necessary and they covered the panniculectomy part of my tummy tuck. I don't know the exact amounts, but I know I paid only $7,000. I think that the full cost is almost $20,000 here the Boston Area. I stayed overnight one night in a very nice hospital with a private room. Good luck to you.

Hi: About the plastic surgery. Please ask your doctor to put in a pain pump. I forget the exact term for it, but my plastic surgeon used one. She puts it in while she's doing the surgery and it has very small tubes that go from a bottle of anesthetic (kind of the size of a baby bottle) to the area of your surgery on the inside. It was like a quick shot of numbing that I could control just prior to getting out of bed, or anything that I could plan that might cause pain. It only lasted for three days but it was truly a godsend. I think you look fabulous! Good luck with the surgery. I'm curious about why you're getting a panniculectomy and not a tummy tuck. I was able to get the tummy tuck with insurance coverage for the panni. So, I paid the difference for the additional time, etc. Best wishes to you with your plastic surgery. I saw your latest before & afters. You look amazing. I cannot believe that you are 30 lbs. from goal. I think that the BMI goals are alot lower than they should be. I think that they should shoot for average weight, not "thin weight". My bmi goal is 159, however I would be gaunt if I went that low.

You look great and I'm sure you feel great too.
