Sounds like a silly question, but it's very cold tonight in New England. Does the band get effected by extremely cold weather? I was very tight when I was trying to eat supper and it was just Soup. I usually get looser as the day goes on so I was surprised that I was so tight at supper time. Please let me know if you've heard anything about cold weather and the band. Thanks. Wow - that's alot of surgery for outpatient. I hope you have someone attending to you for a few days at home. It's going to be hard for you to do much of anything with both your abdomen and your arms healing. My doctor told me to take some extra Vitamin C about two weeks before surgery until I was done healing. I healed very well. Pick up some sweat pants or pajamas with pockets. You'll probably have drains that have bulbs on the ends. It's easier to get around with the drains if you have pockets to put the bulbs into. Stay on top of the pain. By that, I mean take the pain medication before the pain becomes unbearable and keep on a schedule. Write down when you take your pain medication because it's easy to be so groggy that you can't remember when you took it last. Best wishes to you. One of the things that swayed me to full tummy tuck instead of panniculectomy was my belly button. I couldn't imagine not having one, and the one that my surgeon made for me is so cute! Good luck! Sue

Hi: I recommend that you call your band surgeon and tell him/her what happenned so that they can see you sooner if they think it's necessary. I'm pretty sure my surgeon would want to see me within a couple of days if I had a major stuck episode. Hope all goes well. Sue

Hello: Is abdominoplasty covered by your insurance? If so, have your plastic surgeon submit with pictures of your rash and say that it is medically necessary to remove due to the recurring rashes. Good luck! Sue

Like most things in life, different people, different experiences. Personally, I had abdominoplasty back in May 2009 and I was not feeling up to much of anything for the first week. AFter that, gradually added activities. I wasn't working then, but could have probably returned to a desk job after two weeks. However, the surgery zapped my energy big time. It's definitely worth it. I didn't feel like I'd lost the weight until that pannus was gone. Best wishes to you. Sue

Hello: Without insurance funding having a tummy tuck is an expensive thing. However, it will be so worth it! The cost varies tremendously by location. In MA a full tummy tuck costs about $20 - $24k. I've seen others say it costs only $8k in other areas of the country. Start saving, and go on a couple of consults with plastic surgeons. It will at least know where you stand and then you can plan accordingly. I think that most plastic surgeons will charge for a consult, but it should be less than $100.00. Hello: I get awful leg cramps sometimes too. Sometimes my legs hurt for three days after having a bad one. I'm having a physical next month and have this on my list to discuss with my primary care doctor. I look forward to hearing from others and can defintely relate with you. Hi: If you're still concerned and having sharp pains a week and a half after a fill I would go and see your doctor. If nothing else, if it's what the doctor said already you'll have piece of mind. Hi: I used to get first bite syndrome when I ate too fast. Are you taking time between your bites? I used to use a one-minute timer to slow me down. I hope things improve. If not, you should probably go get a slight unfill. Good luck! Sue

Hi: It's normal to be at your sweet spot for a while and then need some fill. As you lose weight you lose weight where your band is too. There are so many variables that come into play with your band. Sounds to me like you need a fill. Good luck! Sue

Hi: I have had a feeling like a lump in my throat for the past five days. I cannot feel a lump. It's not like a sore throat. It hurts when I swallow and when I burp. It hurts down at the bottom of my neck near my collar bone on one side of my neck/throat. I've been exhausted lately too although my sleeping habits are good. I've had my band since 2007 and it doesn't feel like a band issue to me. Any suggestions? If it still hurts on Friday I'll call my primary care doctor because then it will be more than a week. Have you had this happen? What was it? Sue

Thanks for your responses. Saw my LapBand doctor yesterday. He thinks it could be that I'm too tight. He took 1.5 out and said to let him know if that does or doesn't help in a few days. So far it actually feels worse. Hope it's one of those "it'll get worse before it gets better" things. I'll post again just so that someone else can learn from my experience. That's b.s. If you can't even keep Water down you need a slight unfill. You could become dehydrated. Can you swallow your own spit? If not, you should call and get an urgent unfill. Hope you feel better soon. The nurse should never have left you hanging like that. Sue

The woman that owned that store was in my support group at my surgeon's office. I think I heard that she was ill and had to close it shortly after it opened. There are two thrift shops near Avon that have some plus sizes. The Salvation Army store in Norwood and Savers in West Roxbury have some plus sizes. Good luck finding some nice things! Sue

Hi: You have to drink so that you don't become dehydrated. It's been a long time since I was banded, but I recall that it takes just a few days for the pain to go away. I think I was just taking liquid tylenol by the second day post-op. If the pain seems extreme you should call your surgeon to make sure there's nothing going on that shouldn't be - infection, etc. Best wishes to you. Now, go get a drink. Sue

Hello: My band was placed almost five years ago. Because my BMI was so high I didn't have any waiting requirements. I saw Dr. Glasgow the first time in April 2007. I was banded in July. There were several appointments between the initial consult and the surgery. In addition to seeing the nutritionist and psychiatrist I also had a sleep study. Dr. Glasgow and his staff are fabulous! They seem to genuinely care for their patients and they make you part of their team. Dr. Glasgow will give you his cell phone number and email address so that you can reach him during off hours in an emergency. They're all very down to earth folks. They treat you like family.
