get banded right before the holidays? I have my consult on the 24th. They say after that, it takes about a month or so to get the surgery done. That would put me at the end of October...then were dealing with the liquid phase, mushies etc...all around Thanksgiving and Christmas. HONESTLY, would you wait until after the Holidays and just start fresh right at the first of the year? Please answer honestly. I am having a hard time with this one!! Thanks! Brandy

:think I am so frustrated (not to mention disappointed)! The "orginal" plan was to take out some stock money that we have to pay for the lap band. Now, DH want to wait until the 1st of the year for tax reasons (capital gains etc...). I have my consult set up for the 24th and then surgery would be scheduled within the next month. I had my heart (and my mind) set on this. I really, really, really don't want to wait another 4 months. It seems like this band is consuming my every thought! Does anyone have any convincing arguments that I could plead to my husband now? He is not overweight and just doesn't get it. God bless him. :faint:Anything? Thanks all!!

Are there people who take diet pills or supplements with the lap band? I have heard some people do, but my sis who is a pharmacist, says that it is not recommended. Has anyone done this? Thanks

Hi...I have scheduled my "consult" even though, I know what will be said. However, he is 5 weeks out, and then at least another month for surgery (I am paying out of pocket). Does this seem like a long time? I thought that they would be quicker if your a cash patient. I already have all my labs and everything from a previous doc. Wow! Maybe I am just anxious, still seems like a long time. Could anyone give me their HONEST opinion on the team there? The secretary was very short, I just don't want to be let down. Thanks Brandy

Did you or didn't you tell those around you about your lap band surgery? I am leaning on NOT telling anyone but my husband. The reason is because my in-laws are very judgemental on what we spend our money on and I know that they think I am taking the easy way out. For not telling my family, I know that there will probably be some jealousy issues. Any input as to why or why not, would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!! Brandy

For me it would be emotions. I have had a ton of stress in the past 4 years, dealing with my daughter medical issues, marital issues etc. I dealt with it by eating, now I am in this boat!

I have been working out for almost a year now, slowed down during summer, but now I am working back up to what I was...I am able to do 60 min on the elliptical plus I am doing weight machines. My husband asked if I should stop for now, and after I am banded, start back up again...kind of like re-reving my body. I know that you start out slowly, walking etc...but how soon can you resume vigirous activity? I know that it is weird, but I honestly enjoy it. I NEVER in a million years thought that I would say that! Thank you~ Brandy

I am going to be self pay, so I am waiting for the funds to come through. I am hoping for Sept/Oct. though!

Hi There~ I am happy that I found this site. I have been researching the lap band for over a year now and am hoping to have my financing withing the next week or so. I am 99% sure that I am going to go with Dr. Kirshenbaum here in Colorado. I am anxious about the change, but more than ready! Like everyone, I have already paid for the band with all the different diets that I have tried. I am ready for some permanent success! I am a SAHM to 4 kids (3 boys and a girl) and I know tha I am the "fat mom" and am tired of embarrasing my kids. My goal will be 140. I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello! Brandy
