  1. Hang in there. Jay Robb chocolate and vanilla is the best tasting protein I've had. Tastes like a melted milkshake (or what I keep telling myself 12 G protein in milk plus 25 in one scoop of mix. Hope it is nothing serious. Keep us posted.

    stomach gargling

Did your doc give you any meds to take? I'm taking something called Protonix that is supposed to help w gas and tummy juices. I guess we don't make the same amount of digestive juices now that it is smaller. (Sleeved 12/30 and it has gone away for me).

    Today was the day!

Congrats. Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Of course everyone is different, but the first 4 days were the worst for me. Each day I got exponentially better and after the 4th day I could've gone back to work (had surgery 12/30).

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Dec 30 sleeve. Lost 26 lbs so far ( 13 pre op and 13 post op) . I also think I should've lost a bunch more by now esp compared to others, but my doc doesn't seem concerned and thinks I need to manage my expectations. So... Onto protein - I've been drinking the Jay Robb whey protein shakes(got it at kroger, whole foods and i've also seen it on amazon.com as well). It is a powder that you mix w skim milk. I get 12 g of protein from the milk + 25 g from the powder/mix (110 cal from mix and 120 from milk). I prefer the chocolate, but the vanilla is also awesome. I keep telling myself it is a melted milkshake He has other favors too and claims to be the best tasting protein on the planet. I haven't tried it myself, but also heard decent things about "Premier" shakes that are premixed. Something about mixing my own makes me feel better - less processed/cleaner. Good luck!

To tell or not to tell?

It feels like a lifetime til I will be on solids. I'm 11 days post op, still on clear liquids and can't move to the next stage of eating until my first drs visit which is next thurs 1/16. So...at work I sip my protein shake and then go 'out to lunch' /run errands by myself so I don't have to explain. I feel like the weight should be falling off. Had to hide my scale from myself bc it was consuming me. I'm only getting 350-400 calories a day so I guess my body is holding onto everything it can?!
  6. Why do I have shame that I had wls and feel like it is a cop-out when it is the hardest thing I've ever done? (Had sleeve done a week ago) . I'm not at a point where people will notice weight loss yet, but want to be prepared for questions. Was thinking of saying I'm on a medically supervised hi protein lo cal liquid diet (which is technically not lying). I've told all of my family and close friends about surgery so it's not really a secret. I'm talking about co-workers and the random general public. Why do I feel like I'm gonna have to tell them? It's really nobody's biz, but for some reason I always find myself blabbing unnecessary details about my life. Just wondering if anyone else struggled w this and how you handled?

My sleeve story! Ups and Downs.

We have the same surgery date and starting weight I feel sooo much better. Those first 4 days really sucked! How often are you weighing? I lost about 10 lbs immediately and then the scale hasn't budged an ounce for 6 days or more. I feel like wt should be falling off lbs per day seeing how only liquids are going in (No way I'm drinking too many calories). Oh well. Wishful thinking hope you're doing great!

I am officially a post sleever!

Congrats! I had my surgery on 12/30. The next 4 days will likely suck. Alot! Just hang in there. Each day has gotten exponentially better. I've been back at work all week and life is almost back to normal. Well. Not normal since I've only had liquids for 11 days
