    December post ops

I had my surgery the day before you and I've lost 40 so I think you are on track. The slower you lose the more time your skin has to bounce back. I had 90-100 to lose so people who have more might be losing faster. I have only eaten the lean cuisine garlic egg roll like things, they are yummy.

That sounds great! Are your numbers for protein? Are you using the regular laughing cow cheese? I think the cheese I use only has 1 but it's light.

    Why?

I woke up uncomfortable but slept most of the day. I expected to have lots of gas and pain from it but I didn't. I didn't need any pain meds at home and honestly I remember telling my husband right from the beginning that I didn't really feel like I had anything done. I did a lot of positive self talk before the surgery like- you will be fine, you will be in pain but it isn't anything that you can't deal with and this is all worth it". I'm normally not into all that but I was really stressed so I was willing to try anything and something worked because I really have recovered fine. I have heard how some people are losing like 1 or more pounds a day so gaining freaked me out. I've never been ever to get below this weight so I'm afraid of getting stuck here but I'll try and be patient.

    Why?

Started mushy foods this week- yogurt, cottage cheese, etc and now I've gained 1/2 pound? What the heck?! That's very discouraging. Anyone else have this problem? I'm still eating my protein shakes too and I drink all of my 74oz of water. I'm feeling really scared about the fact that I'm only in my 2nd week and I've gained.

    Exercise

    When can I begin exercising? I'm only a week out but I'm curious. I can't go walking- it's -30 right now. ❄️

I called my dr office today because I honestly don't feel like I've had the surgery. I have no issues at all, I'm grateful for that. I think part of it is the fact that I did a ton of positive self-talk that I was going to have a great surgery with no issues. Anyway, my friend had the surgery 8 months ago, had many issues with not being able to eat, drink and was just really ill. I'm 1 week post op and I think I could totally go back to work though I'm not yet. I have struggled with not having the full feeling so wanting to eat more and not being super strict with what I'm supposed to eat per that weeks food listings. I called the office today just to make sure that this was all normal and they said yes but that I need to remember to protect my pouch. I have to just keep telling myself that. I don't know what happens if I overeat and what happens to the pouch but I don't want to find out.

    Never Full!

Can you shake things up and go back to what you were doing in week1 or 2? Including measuring everything and eating slowly?

    Help/opinion

Kay I'm panicked a bit. I'm 5 days post op and I don't seem to have a full button at all. I moved from liquids to mush today- yogurt, pudding etc. the problem is I don't have get full. It says work up from a tsp to Tbl yet today I sat down to eat some pudding and I had to make myself stop eating when it was almost half gone rather than my body telling me to quit. Is there a problem? Did the dr maybe not cut it small enough? Should I be concerned?
  9. I'm cross posting this in pre-op and post-op How many of you think it would have been helpful to have a social worker (therapist) who has been through this procedure on staff and your surgeons office? You could talk to them about fears, concerns, etc. both pre-op and post-op. This would be short term therapy or just when the client needed it. Thanks for your response.

  11. I'm new here so I'm not sure if this has been mentioned. In case it hasn't there are products like syrup, jelly, pasta sauces, condiments, salad dressings, peanut butter etc that are made by Walden Farms. It is sugar free, carb free, gluten free, and some other stuff free but it actually tastes really good. Just thought I would share in case anyone else is looking sugar free options-sugar tastes gross to me right now.

    Is this 'normal'?

I had my surgery on 12/30 and I just asked my husband if he thought the surgeon cut my pouch too big. I'm not eating a lot but I also never get the full feeling but I do hear grumbling when I'm eating my protein shake. I have been craving salt which is weird for me so I did suck on a couple of pretzels then I threw them out. I'm on puréed and cottage cheese type foods now so maybe things will start making me feel fuller. I'm trying to stick to the tsp over 15 minute rule. I have to keep reminding myself that I can't just chug a bunch of water like I would normally. My husband had this surgery 7 years ago and he has slowly put back on 30 pounds so I hope my rule following and limited intake will help him. We went grocery shopping tonight and he did make better choices even though our grocery bill doubled.

I just had my surgery on Monday and honestly I feel too good. I am hungry or at least my brain is and this liquid diet is for the birds. I had sf jello today and I couldn't stand it as it was too sweet. I loved sweets pre-op so maybe I got my wish and my sweet tooth was cut out. I think tomorrow I might try a bit or two of yogurt. I don't want to rush and rupture my pouch or anything but I haven't had any real food in over a week. Anyone else struggled with just liquids post-op?
