    Sleeve vs Bypass

I had one surgeon tell me that I needed bypass not vsg. I wasn't comfortable with that. I found a different surgeon who performed the sleeve. I wasn't too keen on having my intestines messed with and he was a great help and supporter.

    Sex...

I am still too uncomfortable in my own skin for sex...my poor hubby
  5. The hiatal hernia wasn't too painful at all. Just had pain the first time I dry heaved. It felt like my stomach tried to go back into its old home in the hernia hole and hit a brick wall. The incision area is a bit sore. If you have a top loading washer be careful bending over it to get clothes if the washer hits you in that area. I learned my lesson. It felt sore for a few days after that.
  6. When I worked at KFC we had to pick the leftover chicken for the potpies...now that I think back there isn't much meat on a thigh or leg. Honestly it was probably less than 2 ounces of that.
  7. All of our sleeves are different. Mine just can't tolerate chicken and turkey that well yet. I had to literally shave chicken breast down to eat it. I know there are some things I can eat more of like yogurt and I can gulp Water no problem. If it was juicy chicken it probably went down easier lol
  8. I had a hernia repair as well as my sleeve and wasn't able to lift more than ten lbs for 4 weeks. Of course there were a few times that it happened, but I tried my best not to. Good luck! I know it's hard being restricted like that.

    tired all the time

I'm 6 weeks tomorrow as well and still tired. I could sleep 12-13 hours or maybe even more if no one woke me up. I go back to work tomorrow! Eek! I just wanna stay in bed, but I guess I need to pay bills and work lol
  10. How long did it take you to eat the chicken? I am 6 weeks out tomorrow and still can only manage a few bites of chicken or ground turkey. Someone said short people have more restriction so maybe I fall into that category.

    Food Business

I'm not even sure who to contact, but I was thinking...wouldn't it be a great idea to have bariatric size meals ready to go for people. When I went to the grocery store, even a lean cuisine or atkins meal is just too much to eat. Who would want to venture into a business doing frozen and fresh meals and Snacks for wls patients? Does anyone know how to go about this and who to contact? It would be great to have small portion sizes or even 2-3 portions in a box that are separated. It would have to be great tasting food and many varieties! I for one don't eat red meat or pork so using ground turkey and chicken would be ideal for me. I know others eat meat so having thinks like a regular chili and a turkey chili and a vegetarian option would be awesome. Anyways this is an idea that I'm floating around because regular food is just too much.

    Kellogg's shakes

I bought mine on Vitamin shoppes website. Free shipping and a coupon brought the case down to $39.95 It is easier for me to drink than thick Protein shakes. I drink a half of one a day, sometimes one each day. Depending on my protein intake. Some days I'm not interested in eating much
  13. Anyone post op and suffering horrible diarrhea? Is it the lack of fiber and real food? I know my doc said I could have loose stools but this is like water

    sleeved last night

Have your loved one karate chop your shoulders and back to help disperse the air bubbles. It helped me. I also used gas x strips, but I don't think they helped much. Try getting on your hands and knees and sticking your butt in the air, or pumping your legs like we do with babies who have gas. Laying in the fetal position helps me with gas pain. Keep walking! I think all my gas came out in burps! At least I wasn't stinking up the hospital corridor when I was walking lol
  15. Each person is different, but anesthesia makes me really hot after surgery. It could just be your body reacting to that or the medications they have you on. I didn't have spasms in my stomach, but a friend did and they put her on an antispasmodic to stop them. Hope you heal quick! Welcome to the losers bench!
  16. Thanks! I'm blogging too. I need to catch up on that...oops I come on here to be inspired by you guys! My blog: adayinthesleevedlife.com

    Feels like forever

I had to do 6 months of nutrition visits and then I waited for a month and it was approved but the insurance sent paperwork to the wrong place so I ended up calling in August and got things rolling. I had to do a 3 week pre-op diet and that put me out to end of August/September but doc was all booked up until 9/22.
  18. I was reading about that and I swear I read that around 3 years your body starts to reabsorb things.

    Kellogg's shakes

I agree on the isopure. I bought the premade black tea with lemon and mix it half and half with regular iced tea. It tastes like the Lipton iced tea packets.
  20. I agree with making a positive change, I just won't keep my feelings bottled up anymore. Things need to be talked about and put out in the open or all the pent up feelings will eventually build up again.

    Feels like forever

I started in January of this year and had surgery 9/22. The 6 months of nutrition visits went by fast, but the time between the last visit and surgery was so slow. From July to September I was a nervous wreck and time stood still.

    Catheter during surgery

I went to the bathroom right before surgery and then a few hours after I was awake. They measured urine output with a pee holder in the toilet. I have no idea what it's called lol No catheter for me. My doc says they don't like to use them as its a way of introducing bacteria into the urinary tract.
  23. That sounds like something I posted. lol
  24. 1. Your pants fall off when you get out of your car 2. Your boobs start shrinking 3. You can walk easier 4. You no longer have to stoop over the kitchen sink to do dishes because your back hurts 5. Your shirts start becoming dress like 6. Your closet space starts increasing as you get rid of clothes
  25. I turned into a major b***h for a while. I finally had enough of my sister calling me fat all the time. It is different! Normally I used to keep my mouth shut and then eat my feelings. NOT ANYMORE lol! If people make me mad they will be hearing about it
