  1. I am 5 years out. I was down to 142 from 245 and now at 169. I am wanting to get down to 150 I exercise 2-3 x weekly and still weigh and measure my foods. Does anyone have any suggestions? I still measure 1 cup and 2 oz of protein is included in that. I stay away from pasta as it doesnt agree with me. I can tolerate small amounts of rice. I stay away from breads as they tend to fill me up and not let me eat much of anything else.

Hi. I'm like you: Now 5.5 yrs post-op and I've gained ~ 25 pounds. I am so bummed and am really having a hard time getting back to protein only, or succeeding at the liquid restart. Grr. Ghrelin--that ugly warrior. I've even thought about getting a revision/re-do, but I'll see how I do July-August. Even if I stay away from the white carbs, I find myself eating fast and grazing often. Maybe try to avoid the rice, even; the starch/carbs. Let's keep in touch; helpers one to another at this stage. Good luck to you!! Pray for me! :-)

Congratulations. I remember that day for me: May 13, 2014. I thought it'd never happen (especially after a 7-day stall at 200.2!!), but it was a "Hallelujah" day! Now...stay on program so you can stay in Onederland. After five years, especially...when ghrelin returns. So stay on track.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!! Onederland is a GREAT place to be.

  3. Hi, everybody! I am still alive and at goal. My weak wrists have somewhat curtailed my strenuous exercise but I am still in reasonable shape for a guy pushing 66. Missing you guys.

  4. Only now that I decide to get WLS does my Husband declare his LOVE for BBW's by liking every Plus Size FB page. He knows I can see them, I feel like he's dropping hints..WTF..

He may be scared (for you, medically). He may scared (for him, socially--afraid you'll get 'hot' and 'fine,' and other men will find you sexy, attractive, etc.) But your BMI is very high/unhealthy, and you have to do what you must for you, him and your kid.

That's what I said when, at a hotel, I ate some of their delicious chocolate chip cookies.LOL. But instead of eating 6, I only ate one (in the day), a little at a time. Thank you, VSG.

Early last yr, I took Metformin before I even thought about WLS. I dropped from 271.2 to ~ 256 just with that. It does help (or, usually does for) most people. but follow your Dr's orders.

If they've been seeing you regularly, they may not see it at first. But don't worry; they will! Because of the storms, snow, etc, I've been bundled up and actually don't want my neighbors/friends to see me until spring. Then I should blow their minds. Two weeks after surgery, I'd lost 17, and went to a party. Folks said I look good, but I don't think they really saw a change then. But they will. Like you, everyone will see it. Whoo-hoo! Congrats on 40#; I ho...
