    I actually had the same issue. I had a distal pancreatectomy. My cyst was on the body of my pancreas. It was found during routine scans. And you can live without a pancreas. I have the head but it doesn't work. So I am a diabetic now. But i'm grateful to be alive. I did as well lost my spleen due to the location. I'm post sleeve going to bypass.

    iagree2shine got a reaction from justmetj in Finally Approved After 3 Years
    So finally after 3 years of fighting with my past insurance I am approved! I used to have BCBS IL and switched to IL Health Alliance through my employer. They approved me within a few hours! BCBS IL denied me three times and after peer to peer they still didn't approve because they said GERD was not enough to do a revision. Surgery is in three weeks!

    I have a non-functioning head of my pancreas, which means it is working as though I don't have one.

    @lachellelove,
    Congratulations on your weight loss so far! With that amazing amount of weight lost in such a short time, you must be doing something right!
    I would say something like 1,200 to 1,400 calories, or even more if you exercise a lot, and probably 65-100 grams of Protein a day. I don’t think it’s necessary to be super restrictive with carbs, but more importantly, to get them from healthy sources. It’s a good time now to establish those healthy carb patterns where you learn to eat small portions of good carbs like oatmeal, sweet potatoes, winter squash, and whole grain Cereal and other grains, so you don’t eventually cave in and depend on big portions of bad carbs like refined sugars and grains.
    I think a cup of food at a time is fine if that doesn’t make you overly full and you feel good about it. Congrats again on your success!

    I have bcbsil and my approval was really fast. Even though they state 10 business days but it took only 3 days.

    I have BCBS IL through the teamsters union (TeamCare) and they do require at least 2 co-morbidities and a letter of medical necessity (if BMI is under 40). But no waiting period.

    I'm on a fast track to sleeve to bypass revision. My sleeve was wonderful lost 75lbs but ended up getting pregnant. The only reason the changing is due to a hiatal hernia and my severe GERD. I love everything my sleeve did for myself. I am nervous about changing.

    I have bcbs IL in Springfield and there is no waiting or supervised diet. But they have a program to cover a lot to make sure there would not be a denial. And my insurance only lets me go through a center of excellence weight loss center.
