    Does anyone regret this surgery?

I really appreciate this conversation. Before my surgery, I talked with many people who were at different stages in their journey, but none just post-op. While everyone told me the first month is difficult and I may even feel some regret, they all focused on how wonderful it is now for them. Unfortunately, I didn't know about this site. It was given to me pre-op, but I wanted to talk with someone live to ask questions. I can't say what I'm experiencing is regret, today I'd do it all over again. I'm 12 days out, had no complications. Did have a hernia fixed and have spasms, but nothing that can't be controlled. I am just sad and grieving my previous relationship with food and the liquid phase is tough. Thanks for keeping the long range view for us newbies. It really help to know things will get better.

    East Bay, CA buddies?

How's it going? It's getting better for me, but really want to get to more solid foods. Having a big family dinner now and I brought my strainer and had soup. The rice and BBQ was tempting but once I started eating, I was fine. So thankful this is getting better. Stacie. Hi Stacie. It's weird how fast I get full. I have been eating soup a lot too and it is filling. I am a day away from being able to do puréed food so I went to the store and got hummus, cottage cheese, laughing cow cheese wedges and almonds that I plan on blending to make almond butter. Not sure what I will spread it on, maybe just have it from a spoon. I tried cottage cheese warmed with a little marinara tonight for dinner (a day early) and REALLY enjoyed the different texture! How far out are you from your next eating stage? KatieI have until Wednesday and if feels weeks away. I can't wait. It's getting harder for me to just drink and fix soup. I want to chew something. No regrets, I weighed today and I'm down 276 the morning of surgery to 259 today. I also know this gets better. I can't wait to hear how tomorrow's eating goes for you. What you got sounds yummy! I did get full tonight and stopped eating before my bowl was done! Another small victory..…
  4. I'm really concentrating on my eating, but still can't really tell when I'm full. I'm 11 days out and still on thin liquids. I know it's critical for me to know when enough is enough, but with the liquids I'm doing as I've always done - when it's gone I'm full. Looking forward to hear your experience…

Do you have a caloric tipping point?

Wow. Yeah that does seem extreme to me. If it takes you a year or longer to reach goal....600 calories is going to be tough. Is that for every one of his patients or just you? It's his standard program and most of his patients I've spoken with love it. I told him I'd like to check my energy levels and revisit. But so far, one week out, I'm having trouble making it to 400.
  8. I'm day 8 post-op and I'm super sensitive to smells. Things I used to love now give me a bit of stomach upset? I haven't read about it, so wanted to know if this is common.

    Hungry

I'm 8 days out and am so glad to be reading this. I need ideas. I just told my family I was going to eat cottage cheese and yogurt. I know that will get old really quickly. I'll check back next week when I hit the mushie phase.

Do you have a caloric tipping point?

Interesting. With different dr's you get different diet instructions. My Dr. says stick between 400-600 calories until I hit goal weight. I walked a bit today, I'm 8 days out, and as soon as I came back home I had some cream of chicken soup and the hungry/weakness went away. From what I'm reading if you heading down the scale and following your Dr's instructions all should work well.
  12. Me too! Avoid the table. Tell me how it goes?
  13. Good luck! I'm on the 18th too. Just did all my pre op testing yesterday. I know everything I need to at this stage but I am feeling so unprepared for some reason

    Does anyone regret this surgery?

Thanks. Everyone! I'm one week out of VSG surgery today. I am grieving over not eating and being able to eat. I planned the have the surgery before the holidays for a reason, I didn't want another binge feasting season. I feel happy underneath, but teary and sad on the surface. I appreciate the encouragement.
