Madelyne Bonthron got a reaction from Marerz in loving this new body i once had
I would have never thought i would feel so good about my self. My body is slimming down and clothes that i could not fit into now fit loose. Last night when i laid flat in bed for the first time in years my stomach was flat and not round and i could actual feel my ribs.. haha as funny as that sounds.. this surgery was one of the best things i could have done hands down.

    Exercise update:
Over the weekend (which would be a day or 2 beyond 7 weeks post op) I started jogging versus walking without any evidence of swelling. I started slow (3.7 mph) and I have worked up to 4.5 mph this morning. My sessions last 45 mins and I am surprised how well my lungs are functioning, meaning, I don't feel like I am about to drop over dead!!!!
15 weeks till my half marathon!!!
    Bring it on baby!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words!
Little bit about my routine - I won't lie - I treat myself every now and then, but I always stay on track.
I eat mostly nuts, tuna, and lettuce.
    Some veggies and some fruit.
Love Peanut Butter and almond butter.
    I still do Protein Shakes.< /p>
I do watch my carbs and portions a lot.
I do also think it's important to treat yourself every now and then.
I do it about once every two weeks - like frozen yogurt or sushi & I never really go off track.
There's some truth to eating Breakfast like a King, lunch like a prince & eat dinner like a beggar.
I also constantly push fluids - I probably get anywhere to 100-120oz/day.
    I exercise about 3-7 times a week -
I left little weights (8-16) pounds
    I run/walk/skip about 20 miles a week. (Give or take a few)
Push ups, sit ups, wall sits, squats
    I've tried insanity too.
I'm still not where I want to be, but I'm getting there!
My doctor's expected loss for me was to 205
    I surpassed that.

You weigh 320 and hope to lose 140 pounds. Sorry, stones is a measurement I can't get my brain around. So you want to end up at 180?
Are you a man or woman and how tall are you?
39 is not real old, I am 65 and my loose skin is not bad at all. I lost 130 pounds. Younger folks usually have more elastic skin.

Back on my old friend running for the first time. I spent the whole last week walking and it was killing me not to be running. So far so good. Only 7 weeks later. There were moments that felt like I would never be able to run again. If you are considering this operation .....I have said it before and I will say it again....you need to be mentally tough. It will mess with you. You did an amazing job losing the weight....then everything you were doing you can't do. It's easier while you are laying around recovering to eat poorly. Then you look down expecting to see a perfectly flat tummy and it's swollen and you wonder why you did this to yourself or are you the ONE person the procedure didn't work for. Dig deep!!! ITS ALL WORTH IT!!!!!!!
    JUST DO IT!!
Use carecredit if you dint have all the money. Greatest investment of my life

I was sleeved in November, not a revision. I take Prilosec every day and have no problems with heart burn or acid reflux. I have some hunger, but nothing like the intensity I had for years before surgery, and now I can either ignore it (which I could rarely do pre-op) or I can satisfy it with significantly less food. And since I'm now in the habit of dense-protein-first, I'm a whole lot more likely to make wise food choices. I've had no stomach spasms, and once my incisions stopped bothering me (which was about a week after surgery) I haven't had any other pain whatsoever.
The best part, though, is the safety net aspect of the sleeve: When I eventually do give in to a craving and eat until I'm stuffed -- and I'm sure it will happen eventually -- my sleeve will limit the damage I can do in one sitting. I won't be ABLE to eat the entire package of Oreos at one go, ever again! Yippeeee!
Then there are the NSVs: I'm off insulin, not taking any meds for my type II diabetes now. I'm off my BP med. I no longer need a daily NSAID for my OA and it's not because I'm just putting up with the discomfort - it is GONE! I'm no longer too warm all the time; I've changed the thermostat in my house from 70 to 73 degrees. I could go on re smaller clothes, etc., but you get the idea.
I Love My Sleeve! And I love the suport I get on this forum! Thank you one and all.

Thank you for sharing. Yes, I can relate. Your words on filling the emptiness resonate so strongly with me. I understand what it means to grasp for control (of any sort) because of the trauma of childhood where you are trapped in an abusive environment. I also understand what it means to repeat those relationships as an adult.
What I choose to take away from this is one of my own mantras: the choice to live. All these things you have faced, you could have stayed where you are. But you chose to keep going forward. I feel so impatient as well. It's as though I want to just fast forward past the day by day of this and be at my goal weight. That said I think there is some important internal healing to do that no one will ever see. I think this inner healing is what really gets us to our external goals (whatever "weight" that happens to be).
Living belongs to us only one day at a time, you've chosen to live and you are amongst a community of people who are here fighting to live right along side you. I wanted to offer one of my favorite poems for you:
You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves. Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine. Meanwhile the world goes on. Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain are moving across the landscapes, over the prairies and the deep trees, the mountains and the rivers. Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air, are heading home again. Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -- over and over announcing your place in the family of things. Wild Geese, Mary Oliver

Believe it or not, I found scrubs at the Goodwill last week. They were a few bucks a piece. I was thrilled!
