Not eating and drinking at the same time and not having the automatic 'make better choices' included.

That if course varies from person to person.....my surgeon removed 5 pounds of "stuff" from me during my procedure. The night before my operation my wife and I figured around 3 pounds. We were shocked. I was in a support group meeting for VSG and the presenting plastic surgeon showed a photo of someone that had 35 pounds removed!!! It was after MASSIVE weight loss of course

Pretty excited weighed last night and was down to 257, that puts me at 53 lbs lost since the beginning of this journey 34 since surgery on 11/19. I am down three sizes. I feel great too. I work on the 3rd floor and I make a point to take the stairs everyday instead of the elevator. If I am carrying too much stuff I will take the elevator, put my stuff down, and then go up and down the stairs. During my afternoon break instead of having a snack or sitting in the breakroom I go down the stairs and take a 10-15 minute walk and then back up the stairs.
Eating is different, I still can only get in about 700-800 calories but I do get 70-80 grams of Protein. Also manage to get in about 40-50 oz of lquid but can't get 64oz in. I eat eggs, oatmeal, chicken, lean ground turkey, lean red meat, and a lot of salmon. I try not to eat any bread or Pasta. If I want something sweet I have sugar free hard candy and usually that will satisfy my craving.
I am so happy with my decision and where my life is going!

I was thinking this earlier before I saw this post. I work nights too and I'm hungry all night. I'm not hungry on my off days. I hope someone has some suggestions for this problem!

Well my friend you have lost a good amount of weight. My highest weight was 330 lbs and now 280. I am going to start bringing carrots and spinach hopefully that will help.

I work overnights as well. I completely understand what you are feeling. Not sure why it seems this way but I have the same issue. I'm a year out now Dec. 28 2012 and I think working overnights has hindered my progress with weight loss. I try to like boiled eggs or drink a Protein shake. I get hungry like every 2 to 3hrs and it scares me! My highest weight was 389 before surgery 353 now I'm 290. So you are way ahead of me! But I believe it's because I work overnights of my slower progress.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I assumed I would not be alone I just wish it wasn't so painful. I will work on finding some more glute excercises. I have been doing Zumba and some yoga but struggle with some of the parts that require me to sit or sit up from a lying position.. Especially with the ab exercises as it's super painful. I also find that I shift form one butt cheek to another regularity which has greatly impacted my posture and increased my headaches that I was finally rid of. I just never thought that this would become such a pain in my ass.. Literally

I cannot believe how much US docs charge for plastics! What she has quoted you on is nothing more than what my surgeon in Mexico calls the Mommy Makeover...which he charges not quite $8,000 for which includes EVERYTHING except airfare. But, I understand not everyone wants to go to Mexico which I a shame as my surgeon is excellent. Just think, 22,000 minus 8,000 is 14,000. That's a LOT of money to have left over for new clothes.

People have complications with all surgeries. Don't go by hear-say or anecdotes but look at real statistics. I think it is dangerous to paint a picture that the sleeve is less risky than RNY. Full disclosure, I had the sleeve. But I don't think the RNY is a bad surgery.

Yes, you're suppose to sip your Water all day. What the other poster was saying, was that if you add something like crystal lite or one of those sugar free flavored squirt liquids (like the Mio), it reduces the density of the water and makes it easier to drink. My life savor for getting "liquid" in post op was those sugar free Popsicles. Now I drink water without a problem. I can't chug it down without getting that tight feeling in the chest or burpiness, but I can drink it fast and satisfy my thirst. I drink between 64-88 ounces a day.

Pretty much 2 months out and not measuring anything. We just stick to Proteins and the
basics, no carbs or sugar if at all! My husband has terrible diabetes but his blood suga
has stabilized at 110 daily (not 40 or 400). We keep no bread, Snacks, fruits or sugar in our home, and funny thing, we don't even care for the SF pudding and Jello anymore. This is working for us! Best of luck!

Protein more than 90 and carbs less than protein. That's it. I'm 8 months out now and I'm getting between 900 and 1100 calories a day.

I don't track sugar (I am not diabetic, insulin-resistant, etc. so no need to) but I keep my carbs to between 30 and 60, fat to under 30, and calories to under 800. This is all per my dietician's instructions.
