  1. I have one of two consultations tomorrow...yippee...anyway, I have a question. Did you bring your spouse with you to the consultations? I am not planning on having my husband at the consultations, but I do plan on having him attend a seminar (which is required by one of the treatment centers). What is your opinion on this? Thanks Margo

    Spouse at Consultation...

Thanks for the input.....I asked my husband to go to the seminar with me and he said he would, but in the next breathe he said it would probably be "boring"! I just think he wishes he could muster up the courage to have the surgery too... Margo
  3. I will be going to see a surgeon tomorrow....I will ask for answers to your questions. I have one question: what is NSAIDs? Margo
  4. Hi all, I am a wanna bandster!!! I have considered WLS for about 2 years off and on. I am just learning about the lap band and getting informed... I have been spending all my free time on this website and several others plus reading books about WLS. Wednesday I see Dr. Prewitt in Menomonee Falls, WI for my first consultation. I am so excited I can barely stand it. I plan on interviewing at least two more doctors in the Milwaukee area....does anyone out there have any suggestions for an excellent lap-band surgeons in the Milwaukee area? Also, what is the one most important question to ask your doctor about being banded? Finally, I had a nice "chat" with bandit and dylansmom earlier tonight.....bandit wanted all the details so here goes: I am 46 years old I am married....15 years (same guy!!) One daughter...she's 8 years old I have been overweight all my life (but for a few years in my twenties) I am 5 foot 4 inches currently weigh 331 By the way, I am an avid quilter....think I might change my user name to something "quilty"!!! How do I do this? Margo

    A wanna be....

Thanks for the kind words and support, ladies!!! I am so excited to talk to my surgeon on Wednesday....I spoke with my PCP today (another issue...my knee!) and told me that I wanted to talk to several doctors. He didn't response like I thought he would...he was like O.K. whatever. But, I think it would be wise....don't you? Margo

    Lap band? or Gbp?

I had a wonderful discussion yesterday with an aquaintance of mine who had the gastric bypass surgery in February. She has lost about 45 pounds already and looks great, but she told me that her doctor has her on all types of Vitamins which she has to spray in her nose, has her on a ulcer mediciation and is going to check her gall blander to see if it needs removed. All this and she only had the surgery in February...but, she said if she had to do it again, she would go with the bypass. Me...no way! I have my consulation on Wednesday and will not be talked into the bypass! Margo

    Super Obese Teen seeks advice!

Hi Joe, I too am thinking about the surgery...actually, I have a consultation with Dr. P on Wednesday....I can't wait. Joe, I have been heavy all my life and it was especially hard as a teenager. Now at 46 I am so unhealthy due to the years and years of stress on my body due to my weight. If you are ready for a major change (not just your body, but in your head) then I say do a lot of research, make a decision and improve your quality of life NOW.... Good Luck, Joe.... Margo
