I'm starting to give up on searching just need some answers
KristinaRnY replied to buddaflybeauty23's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am pre op and I am 23 and was also undecided between the sleeve and bypass. I decided on the bypass and will be having it next month to me the risks of being obese outweigh the risks of having surgery. God forbid something ever happened to me... At least I died tryin'. I'm confident nothing will but there was a point where I was thinking some of the things you are and that was my mentality. I'm taking a stand for my life, my family, my health. -
told I can't be on a vegetarian diet.
KristinaRnY replied to ElliottWasHere's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was lucky that my nut and dr encourage a plant based diet. I read "The food Revolution" and it absolutely changed my life. I started going to therapy two years ago for all my emotional issues that played a large roll in my becoming obese. So as far as emotionally and mentally I feel I am as ready as I can be. I've done a lot of reflecting and self discovery but this particular book was just what I needed to change my eating habits and strive for a healthy wholesome life. I encourage people to read it because it is full of a lot of information from credible sources and a glimpse into someone else's journey with similar aspirations to those who are wanting to be more aware, Eco friendly, and healthy. -
I get my date in 13 days when I see my surgeon but I want to know now!!

I can see it being hard if you are vegan but not vegetarian. Unless you are a "junk food" vegetarian and don't know how to prepare high protein meals or if you are a picky eater. -

Im a vegetarian and my nut encouraged me being a vegetarian!!! There's a lot of other ways you can get protein in not eating meat!! She also told me that people are often forced to become vegetarians post op because they cannot tolerate meat. There's no way in hell I'm eating meat lol pre op, post op, no op lol no meat! -
Okay so I have a uti and started antibiotics today and am drinking lots of fluids.. However I have an important dinner in 2 1/2 hours and I can't stray farm from my bathroom. Does anyone have a temporary relief solution to kill this urge for like an hour!?

Lost - 105 pounds... and 1 wedding ring. :-(
KristinaRnY replied to terry1118's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't even had surgery yet but have lost 40lbs and my ring doesn't fit anymore. I was recently engaged in October and I want to wait and just have it resized once at the end of my journey. But I am so sad that I didn't get to wear it long. -
I second that, keep your body guessing.

PROTEIN HELP PLEASE!
KristinaRnY replied to drobinson1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is pretty similar, the one shake a day and that's only til we move to the last eating stage. Then my dr wants all protein to come from whole foods and not shakes. -

Slap myself for being ignorant? I'm not the one on the internet prescribing medication for people I have never met. So doc what do you prescribe for a defiant child? Some Benadryl? Make em take a nap? :rolls eyes:

I agree, I'd probably slap the ish out of someone who said that to me. Especially someone who hasn't even met said person and is a complete stranger to me!

Post op soups and protein
KristinaRnY replied to Meintraining's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I liked the Premier Protein. My dr and nut don't give a lot of advice on protein supplements, they said after the liquid stage they don't want us to supplement but to get our protein from whole foods. Seems hard to do. -
My nutritionist and hair dresser told me it was because of the lack of carbs in my diet. She called it "carb flu." Who knows.. I've heard so many different stories. A lot more things factor in than just our diets.

I tried this because of the lower calories and I think it is absolutely gross. I tried the strawberry cheesecake one and it had no flavor a tasted like artificial sweetener. My dog wouldn't even eat it lol. Zoi is my all time favorite but I do like chobani as well.
