Anyone from Oregon?
KristinaRnY replied to spiritedcowgirl63's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That's a fantastic loss! I'm getting more and more anxious and excited each day I get closer to surgery! -
I did the in home sleep apnea test and my results were inconclusive so then I had to do the study in the "lab". I slept better there! Even with all the stuff hooked up to me in an unfamiliar place. They have a whole wing in a nice inn. I had like my own personal suite, they had us arrive at 5pm but lights out was 11 so we got to use the pool and sauna or we could hang out in our rooms and take a bubble bath, watch tv, or use the internet. They also provided breakfast on our way out in the morning after out showers. I kinda felt spoiled lol.

How Many Carbs? I'm almost 8 weeks post op
KristinaRnY replied to ladonnarn02's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have no idea, I've heard some surgeons recommend 50g or less a day and some say 100g or less a day, also I've read what she just stated above as well before. -
Are you exercising? Do you know about how many calories you are consuming a day?

Why did you pick Gastric Bypass vs Gastric Sleeve?
KristinaRnY replied to Amyllf2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just want to add that you can't bank on dumping, not everyone dumps... And recent studies actually show that people with the sleeve dump as well. However any of the weight loss surgeries will work it you are dedicated. You are going to find a lot of real life experiences here, consider the bias in all of them... Also look at studies and facts versus your medical conditions or family history of. Take into consideration what your doctor recommends for you. I was torn between the sleeve and the bypass but after doing my research from real life experiences, scientific facts, and doctors recommendations I chose the bypass. Goodluck on whatever you decide! -
Husband is turning into an Ass!
KristinaRnY replied to takingaleap's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I guess the only thing we can do is offer them as much reassurance as possible. I am still pre op as well and my fiancée has been very supportive so far but I am so afraid of this. I don't want to be a statistic and I try not to think about it too much because I think that just manifests it into reality. I don't know what to say honestly other than keep him involved and reassurance that you love him, you might have to meet him more than halfway. Be understanding and you know try to see it from his perspective, he may be feeling insecure. Hopefully it's a short lived phase. Goodluck and hopefully you will have some insight to share with me if or when I run into the same situation. It seems like it is inevitable with weight loss and relationships, I see it so often. -

KristinaRnY replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow you look incredible! You should be so proud of how far you have come!!! I understand your feelings of not wanting this surgery to define you because so many of us have been defined by our weight our entire life. You just want to live your life in your new beautiful "earth suit." :-p congratulations, you are an inspiration. -
Have anyone got rejected on surgery day
KristinaRnY replied to sweetmisery86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some will some won't it depends entirely on your insurance and surgeon. My surgeon is known for putting people "back on the bench" for 6 months if they gain or test positive for tobacco or alcohol day of surgery. They understand that we have a difficult time losing weight, they love to see te scale trending down no matter if it's .2lbs or 50lbs, or they at least want to see us maintaining (staying the same). They consider us not ready if we gain. That's my particular program though, all are different. I'm guessing if they say it, they mean it. -

What requirements do you not meet? Or do they only pay for one WLS? Can you switch insurance providers? -
I wish I could watch this!!! I only have basic cable and netflix. I've seen Melissa's story on netflix which really hit home with me.

Thanks for the info!

So frustrated! Updated requirements w/BCBS of NC.....
KristinaRnY replied to musiclady2014's topic in Insurance & Financing
That is really a bummer, my insurance requires a year and after that it's still months before you have surgery.. My date is April 9th and I have been in the program since December 24, 2012! At first I was really frustrated but am now grateful because it has given me the opportunity to make lifestyle changes and to lose some weight on my own. By doing this I hope it makes the transition to post op life easier and they have really educated us on how to use our tool and have life long success with it. Be patient, everything happens for a reason and your time will come exactly when it is meant to I know that doesn't ease your frustration on the situation but try to stay positive. It seems like you should be "grandfathered" in on the old requirements since you started before the change was in affect... If that's not the case that is really shitty. They should have notified you. -

Any Oregon Spring/Summer sleevers out there?
KristinaRnY replied to GoGirl2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'll be having my surgery in clackamas oregon on April 9th, I'm having gastric bypass though not the sleeve -
Yeah granted if they are family or not no one has the right to be disrespectful or tell anyone who is taking a stand for their health and life that they shouldn't. Unfortunately I had to cut some negative family members out of my life because they were just extremely toxic to my well being... Granted a lot more went down then this and idk your whole story with your mother but maybe a little distance would help. Don't let her get a reaction out of you. Surround yourself with positive and encouraging people.

Pact -- Earn $ for exercise - Lose $ if you don't
KristinaRnY replied to deedadumble's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I tried it awhile back but my signal At my gym is bad and/or couldn't connect to gps In order to "check in" at the gym, also to complete a food log you have to log 1200 calories and at least 3 meals, some people can't eat 1200 calories. It didn't work out for me but I hope it does for you cuz it is a neat idea.
