I haven't really updated you guys in a while so here goes. Surgery was on 12/18 and the shoulder pain was terrible but I made it through. I really felt tired and run down for about a week. I've had some head hungry and I've have had my time of chewing and spitting out like all of us have had, but I'm really not hungry much anymore. Now that I'm about sixteen days out I have to remember to eat and measure or I get that overfilled feeling with pain and I don't like it. I'm getting in all of the liquids but lately it's hard to get all the Protein in. Guess I'm just getting tired of the flavors. I've enjoyed the retried Beans thinned with chicken broth and some cheese. Mainly stay with Soups, soft eggs, and cheese grits. I can eat about 1/4 cup of solids now so I guess that's good. I watched TLC's my six hundred pound life and it scared me to death because the guy lost 400 pounds and he gained back almost 300 pounds. I hope and pray this doesn't happen to me or us, not after going through all of this. Guess this shows me this surgery is just a tool I could be back here again. It makes me determine to make this change for the rest of my life. I pray that we all succeed in our journeys. Also my prayer and thoughts are with our friend Deez. Wishing you well and a I hope your home soon.

Agreed! I was moved to soft foods on Thursday. That was my first meal. Mmmm! I'm gonna try refried Beans with cheddar, salsa, and sour cream for lunch today.

I must say the BEST thing I've eaten on puree stage is WENDYS CHILLI pureed in the blender. OMG YES and only $1.60 with tax. (My inner fat girl is saying thank you god for something so good)

Surgery was yesterday and the Dr said everything look good and no problems with gallbladder or hernia. Left shoulder pain was off the chart. I tried to stay on top of the pain through out the night which helped. I've been peeing like race horse since they filled me with 5 liters of Fluid before and durning surgery so a lot of good losing 10 lbs on the pre-op diet. Lol. The drain was removed this am and the shoulder pain is all most gone. So far tolerating liquids, ice chips, and Jello. Start Protein Shakes at lunch brought some of my own in case I didn't like the ones here. Been up and walking or sitting in rocking chair whIch helped with the left shoulder pain. Thinking of everyone having surgery today and fri. God bless you. Btw the staff here have been lovely and accommodating. Most of the nurses have been through some type of bariatic surgery themselves so they have a great amount compassion.

I made it through the first night at home after surgery. I'm feeling ok but get tired easily. I slept better but was up 3X last night to drink and pee. I think that will be my life for the next few weeks. Drink and pee. Drink and pee. I can drink 2oz in fifteen minutes so that's good. My taste hasn't really changed so things I had, I still like, yeah. Nausea hasn't been that bad for me. I was really worried about that. One of the nurses told me to breathe through my nose while I'm sipping my drinks and it has work. Not as much air getting in my system. I'm not tolerating cold liquids at all. It will cause my tiny stomach to cramp and that hurts. Im staying on top of my pain meds and taking every six hours. Also, it takes a long time to get my medicine down. Been working on that for the last hour. My head has been hungry today but my stomach says no no no. Can't wait to take a shower. That's going to feel so good. I'm off work for 4 weeks so I hope by then I've got things under control and eating purée food. Thanks everyone for your tips, suggestions and sharing your own stories. It has made a big difference in my journey. Everyone keep up the hard work of recovering or the hard work of your pre-op diet. Praying for those having surgery next week. Keeps us posted.

Hello and Merry Christmas to all my sleevers and families! I wanted to give my story and update on my sleeve from the 11th. All went well with surgery. I woke up confused of course and in a little pain. . Nothing to fuss about... more sore than anything. Day 1 was weird. .I just had calls and text messages out of the Yin yang and I was loopy but I walled the track of the hospital at least 3 times. .. one time I felt like I over did it because the soreness went to pain. They took such good care of me and my boyfriend was all over it. .He made sure I had everything I needed including a smile. I did not have any gas pain whatsoever (praise God) I had no nausea or vomiting (praise God) and still haven't had either. Before I was discharged they wanted me to get down a certain about of fluids and once he said. .Well if you can get this down you go home. .I tried my hardest. .1 oz every 15 minutes. I took down more than I expected. I was sent home and oh boy. .......... The pain kicked my arse. .Now don't get me wrong. .. it wasn't bad but around a 6...I was on pain meds for at least 3 days and done. I tried to walk as much as I could. sleeping is uncomfortable because I'm a tummy sleeper but it's getting better. I'm getting in my fluids but slacking on my Protein (bad girl) I'm so ready for food is crazy. You don't realize how much you want food until you see big Mac commercials on television. .Oh my lanta is horrible. I haven't cried over my decision once but silly commercials make me tear up quick lol silly me. constipation is a beast. .Get ready. .But Miralax and a magnesium pill and proboitics help alot. I want food. I am 2 weeks post op and puree doesn't start until jan 2nd but I did sneak some instant mashed.. just some off the tip of a fork and that was my Christmas gift. .. The absolute best. I have lost 20 lbs so far and feel a little different. I can see a difference in my face and my ring is very loose! Just wanted to share a little since I haven't updated since surgery. I tried to type all of this on my lap top but the website is just eew..so please excuse any typos from ac! Hope you all have a wonderful holiday with family and friends and a happy new year. .. it's a new year and we all have something to Celebrate. God bless!

Merry Christmas! As I wait for my teenagers to emerge from their beds to open presents (they sleep a little later than when they were little), I am overwhelmed by the opportunity I have been given. So many people long to have WLS and do not have insurance that will cover the cost or the resources to pay for it themselves. How lucky we are to have this chance to change our lives! Only 5 more days until surgery for me!
Wishing you a happy holiday today!

I think we have the same sleeve date! Dec. 18th? I know what you mean...the first couple of days were exhausting and painful, but I'm starting to feel much more like myself today. Even drove and ran an errand yesterday! Though everything tires me out far quicker. :-)

    Happy Christmas Eve!
Surgery yesterday morning and I am doing pretty well. I was up walking by 1:30 in the afternoon and am trying to do this every time I get up to pee, which is about every 2hours.
My incisions are sore but not unmanageable. They started giving me ice chips right away which really helped with the sore throat from air tube . I have some mild nausea and they are giving me a little bit of medication for tat now.
I have to drinks 60 ml Water every hour until noon. If tolerated, I ca go to Clear Liquids this afternoon.
I do have a drain---doesn't hurt but is a liile uncomfortable. I am expecting to be released tomorrow morning. All in all, it's been uneventful which is good. I will keep you all abreast of that transpires.
Again, so many thanks to all who shared their experiences. It's helped a lot!

Follow-up appointment with surgeon for second surgery yesterday. He's very pleased with my progress recovering from both surgeries and he's very happy with my weight loss.
He started me on soft foods, which was awesome. I'd become so intolerant of Protein shakes that I'd just stopped using them. My Protein for several days was almost nothing and calories probably averaging around 100/day. Now, starting with cottage cheese and yogurt, progressing to scrambled eggs soon.
Hoping it's smooth sailing from here ...

Day 11 post op for me and doc/surgeon in ER both informed me that My bloodwork showed signs of pancreatitis (never heard of that condition until today) -- thankfully it's taken care of non operatively ... They are going to get as much Fluid in me as possible but unfortunately they'll need to monitor me over the next 2 nights ... Praying I will be out of the hospital by Christmas morning the latest .. Didn't plan on this but thankful I am in the process of healing the problem
Prayers and thoughts appreciated. I shed a few tears already but trying my best to stay strong. We never really know where this journey will take us but I'm hopeful all will go well for me and everyone else in our community

Hi I had my surgery done on December 18 I am doing very well it's five days out now and I feel great. Day two and three were the hardest for me but that went by quickly. I think it had a little to do with the lady that was in my room with me. She was a year younger and was waiting on a Liver transplant it really got me thinking about life and health. Because I was weak and emotional I thought why did I do this and how come I could not do it on my own. And now I feel so blessed I feel like I have a new start - I feel wonderful and full of energy. Good luck to everyone. ????
