    Labor day Challenge

    Current- 177.2 ... Down 100 lbs!!!
  4. Good evening, all! I thought I would take the advice of @@LuminousLife and journal my story for therapeutic reasons. I have chosen to only tell my husband, mom, and 2 best friends (from different states) and I figured since I've been getting support for months here from all of you, I could maybe assist others! I will first give a little bit of my background. I am 27 years old, married with no children (yet)! I am not on any medications, blood pressure and cholesterol, etc are all great... I just need to lose weight! (About 125 lbs to be exact.) I officially started this journey back in August, however had been researching my options for about a year before that. I was sleeved this morning at 9am and my surgeon said everything went perfectly! Honestly, I had been expecting the worst... Gas pains, stomach soreness, not being able to pee, etc... I have had NONE of that. Knock on wood, other than a dry mouth, I feel so blessed to have today go as well as it did. I got to my room at about 11am (I believe) and I felt sick to my stomach for about an hour and kept falling asleep. At about 2pm, I noticed I already felt way better. I've been taking advantage of sleeping when I want (I literally did not sleep all last night bc I got sick from this stupid tofu Soup I ate for lunch. Gross.) I've been using my spirometer when I can and been taking laps around the Bariatric unit every two hours, each time feeling better and better! Any questions/comments are greatly welcomed!

  6. Hey guys! Just wanted to post a quick update! I'm about 4.5 months post sleeve and I'm down 76 lbs as of this morning! It's crazy to think I had my surgery just in December, as it feels like it's been at least a year! That's a good thing! I feel great!! The first pic was from back in August and this "after" photo was taken this past weekend!

Foods that make you barf! Literally.

Yes, gross, I know. I'm just curious, I have certain foods that make me throw up and it's super annoying! What all foods cause this for you guys? My biggest one is ice cream. Before anyone freaks out on me.... I've never ordered ice cream after surgery, but in group settings, I have taken a few bites. I've learned I can't even take a bite of it without ending up in the bathroom.

    4th of July Challenge

I forgot to post my weight from this past Friday.... Kidney stones and ruptured ovarian cysts just ended a 6 day hospital visit. Scary stuff. Anyway! Goal for end is 187 This week I'm down a crazy amount and Friday I weighed in at 189 already. I think it will be safe to say that I can hit this goal!

Oh that's so sad!! I love bacon and I believe it should be it's own food group. I don't eat it very often, but it's my "go-to" food if we have to go out to breakfast with friends or family. Congrats on being so close to goal!!

Foods that make you barf! Literally.

Yeah, I completely agree... With ice cream, it's not good for me and I learned my lesson so why even bother? I'm only almost 6 months out from being sleeved so I've only had one or two bites at a time of bread and I haven't had issues. It may be easier if I has issues with bread! ha!

Foods that make you barf! Literally.

Oh.. Just wait haha! As you can see, most of us have certain foods that make us throw up, but it's not like how you throw up now... For me, it's like you open your mouth over the toilet and it's like a slime consistency just comes out! Not like projectile vomiting or anything crazy! I know, disgusting, but this was one thing I was not expecting after being sleeved! Sorry for the graphic details!

Another thing that absolutely PAINS ME TO SAY, is sushi. It is my second favorite food of all time (next to potatoes, obviously) and I can now eat 2 pieces of a sushi roll. Not THREE. Definitely not FOUR. I have tested this theory many times over the last 5 months and successfully puke every time. The good thing that has come out of this, is I have learned to love sashimi. I am pretty obsessed and I would say I get 70% of my protein throughout the week from sushi grade salmon from a local Japanese market. Absolutely obsessed.

Hmmm... Now that you mention that... I was at a baby shower the other day and when they served chicken salad, I was less than thrilled because I've never really cared for it, but it was the only protein option and I felt like I was going to hurl so I quit eating it. I should make note of the chamomile tea next time!!

Broccoli?! That's a shame since it's actually healthy! God was sending me a sign with my ice cream, but BROCCOLI?! Ha! Yeah, walk away from the veggie tray next time!

That's so strange and I don't think I've tried onion rings, though I love onions. And onions in batter. Lol! I'll have to watch out when I come across one! On a side note- isn't is so strange and fascinating how we "throw up" now? It's not at all like we used to throw up if we were sick... Or had a few too many drinks the night before

New here, but I am just the wife

Hey there!! I think this is awesome that you are on here to learn everything you can and are so supportive!! I'm only 5 months post op and have been married 5 years, however having your spouse supportive is a must in my book! I have been extremely lucky in the sense that I had an easy recovery and life was back to normal completely for me after 2 weeks (after the first 4 days, things got way better!). Feel free to ask any questions on here and people are more than willing to help! Good luck to your husband!
