    June Post Ops!

I am having mine at the Mayo Clinic. I am a patient there already and my Bariatric team is there. The plastic surgeon I saw specializes in patient's who have had was and skin removal. I felt really comfortable with him and hope insurance comes thru for some or all.

    June Post Ops!

Hi Junies!! Well today I went and had a consultation for plastic surgery. I went in asking about a tummy tuck but secretly thought lower body lift. I wanted the surgeon to tell me his thoughts... well he agreed! It looks like a lower body lift is the best option for me. My insurance doesn't cover plastics except in rare cases but he submitted for insurance anyway. He said it could go either way and I'll know in 4 to 6 weeks. Please send some prayers up that insurance comes thru for me. Having lost almost 140 lbs I really want this to feel like I've done everything to achieve my goals. I am still at 130 and can't bust into the 120 range for anything... he seemed to think I had 10 to 15 lbs of skin (gross). So now I am just going to eat like I have been, exercise like I have been and pray this works out for me. I believe whatever happens is meant to be but 11,000 will be a lot for me to self pay right now and I hate the idea of taking a loan. I love being a size 6 or 8 but to be a 2 or 4 (his prediction) would be amazing.. Oh and carol, I just want to tell you how proud I am of you and getting solidly into the 120 range and on vacation to boot!! You rock!! You are such an inspiration to me!!

You'll do great! Let me share a trick my dr shared with me. Pick a five pound range. Say it is 125 to 130. If you are up or down two lbs from your low end of your range consider it green meaning all good. If you are 3 to 4 lbs up or down that's yellow meaning somethings not right slow down and fivure out what changed. If you are 5 or more up or down that is a hard stop. Review your food journals and if you know you are off track make an appointment. It's a lot easier to lose 5 than 100 which we all know so catch it early. He also recommends weighing no more than twice a week because water weight can fluctuate. It made perfect sense to me. I sure hope that helps. Five to 10 more lbs and I'll be in maintenance with you!! I'm shooting for between 120 and 125 as my low. I am 130 now.

    Losing my office!

The higger I move up in my company the less space I have. Our senior leadership doesn't even have offices anymore. I got a huge promotion in title and pay earlier this year but lost my office. I am now in a tiny cube. My administrative assistant has more space than me if you can believe it? I guess paperless means truly working withour borders... I'm getting used to it but cube world is interesting considering the sensitive topics all of ny colleagues are responsible for. Wave of the future?

    My plastics before and afters

How long did it take you to recover? I work in an office and am thinking about getting a lower body lift in December. Curious about how quickly I could expect to get back to work?

    June Post Ops!

My one year appointments went great!! My doctor and my NUT were so proud of me and said not many people get to a normal bmi in one year, especially with a metabolism like mine. I weighed in at 132 at their office. I wish I had gotten to the 120s but am proud regardless. My surgeon doesn't think I have anymore to lose. I asked the a consult with plastic surgery and hr said he thinks the panni / tummy tuck will get me easily 5-10 lb loss. I have already had him start documenting my lower back pain and rashes so I can work the insurance route. I have decided if insurance won't pay I'll do self pay. I'm worth it! I haven't purchased a new car in almost 20 years so I'll say it's my new ride. Lol. I am busting with pride of a job well done. I wish my mom was still alive for me to share...

    June Post Ops!

Tomorrow is my one year follow up with my surgeon and NUT. Neither have seen me since early January. I looked back at my logs and realized I was in the 160s when they saw me last. I am now anywhere betwen 132 and 133. scale keeps hovering. I was hoping to be in the 120s by this appt. But damn! I am just so proud of myself I can't be upset by a few lbs. I am a changed woman. Tonight I swam 100 laps in our community pool in an hour. I have always been a strong swimmer and even swam on the swim team up until college, but still I felt like an athlete. I told my hubby I want to buy a waterproof mp3 player and a new beach cruiser as a surgiversary gift for myself. I'm so proud of all of us!

    Does anyone have snacks

I eat 2 to 3 snacks a day. My team encourages them. I do healthy, mindful snacking. Yogurt, fruit with a string cheese, skim milk and half banana, 1 ounce of almonds or walnuts. I try to keep them around 100 calories and my meals are usually 200 to 300 calories. I focus on protein and nutrient dense foods first and foremost.

    Milk

I drank milk every day from day two post surgery on. I still have a glass as snack three every night. It's high in Calcium, 8 grams of Protein. My team really encourages milk. I am 1 year out and 136 lb loss from my highest weight so I say if you tolerate it, it should be good. A typical day for me: Breakfast: protein smoothie with unjury vanilla, 1/2 cup milk and either 1/2 cup frozen unsweetened berries or PB2. Snack: greek yogurt Lunch: 3 ounces grilled chicken, arugula salad with white balsamic vinegar and 1/4 teaspoon olive oil. Snack: cheese stick and small piece of fruit or carrot and celery sticks Dinner: 3 ounces of chicken or fish or beef (I limit beef to once a week) with a vegetable and maybe small (less than 1/4 cup) potato dependent on protein. Snack: glass of milk or greek yogurt. Typically I am not hungry at this point but my team want something small to keep metabolism revved through the night. I hope this helps!! In the beginning when still on liquids and even mushies I drank 2 and sometimes even 3 glasses of milk a day.i was lucky and never got lactose intolerant like some post rny patients. Oh and my 1 year bloodwork was perfect.

They had booked me with a NUT I don't like but I rescheduled to the one I like in my office. I actually can't wait for the appointment next week. Except for these recurring gout attacks I am in fantastic health.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

    June Post Ops!

I was thinking it might be a reason I'm stalled... I am still at 134 or 135 dependent on the day. I'm not stressing about it but wonder if I lowered foods that have sugar grams (fruit) and still keep my carbs under 100 grams if that would do it? I see my team next week and actually look forward to seeing my nut to ask about these ratios, etc.
