I will never shop GNC, or the Bariatric sites stuff is marked up too high it's outrageous. GoD this list is long I'm told to get 90 grams a day and Isopure has always done it for me $50 right to my door from Amazon 21 50 G Protein serving hard to beat. These watered down things have 12 grams so I need 8 shakes a day this way I do 2 day day get 100 grams (the extra can't hurt)

Atkins was the Man! I lost my first big weight in 1978 at 24 following it lost 70-80 pounds in record time. If Only I could stay on it:) But one thing is for sure after being sleeved I ignore this potatoes ,sugar ats. This guy won't lose messing with that stuff. Sleeve is life changing. But Atkins laid the ground work for diet long ago. RIP DR. Atkins!

Gary Taubes has taught me to eat ore fat too and by my blood sugars I can see it's working. I've been losing weight all along with high Protein high fat limited Carbs. I could never read his book to deep fore but love the lectures.

One shake for me in 50 grams of Carbs (isopure on Amazon $42 bariatric sites overcharge huge much less protein). i am getting 150 grams a day easy as I eat fish etc. Down 41.5 in 5 weeks slowed some but low carb working. the Nutritionist pushes low fat. i just know better fat is not the enemy carbs are especially for those of us that are highly insulin resistant. My appetite is increasing as it always does when i start my workouts and they have been intense of late. they say extra Protein will slow weight loss because of calories. i don't buy it we shall see. i was reading tonight that the war on fat was totally wrong and how the government made it worse. They have sugary foods on the food Pyramid and they have helped cause Obesity as they helped exasperate the poor same thing. you got to look for the truth. i sure do.

I could of already stalled and not known it. i only weigh on one scale at Publix and if i am away as i was for 3 weeks before Holidays i do not weigh. I'd never weigh more then weekly and will next week before i head back to Frigid Wisconsin. Be gone 4 1/2 weeks likely keep going then weigh when I return.

Thanks for replies. I know I'm no writer but got a little excited that success continues. interesting about Protein and blood sugars. i never heard that and Atkins preached the opposite. I still think I need more then 90 though? The My Fitness APP (its crazy 50% carbs) which is only decent tracking Anthonydepalma I can find was 72 Protein before but after all my loss it's adjusted to 132 a day. I understand about fat. You are right. The Nut told me the other day that it's too many calories and to watch it. I felt like excusing myself and leaving. I'm not seeing any of them from now on just surgeon.
I will read Gary Taubes sounds interesting. Oh and I don't expect to not stall. I do remember at 210 running marathons eating Low carb 14 years ago that I could never lose those 20 more. But was 291 recently and 244 feels a lot better.
The low fat thing is Junk Science at best just as man made climate change is, and it is political. Some one somewhere with a fax machine trys to instill all this fear into people and a lot of them succeed.

I have no mourning of food or what it is. Long ago I knew giving up romancing food was the key. I'm gonna be a dead man and leave 2 young children behind if I did not do surgery now we all can "live". I'm happy camper waking up daily having the power I need to defeat this crazy obsession of food. My 17 year old cried in the Hospital I said it's for you bring on your family we are going to enjoy life!

I've been insulin Dependent since 2005 and pretty sure my Pancreas produces zero insulin so chance I progressed in my 23 years with the disease to Type 1. I was glad when my Surgeon stated they had to rethink that all bariatric patients could get off Insulin. I knew I never would but it would be reduced. Well miracles are happening. i was sleeved November 19th and already down 28 LBS. In the Hospital i brought my own insulin as they never know what amount to give me form past experience. Before surgery I took 120 units of Lantus, 2000 Glucophage (Since 1990) and anywhere from 140-300 units of Novalog a day. Of course I knew it would be reduced more than 80%. I debated endo in Hospital that I needed more novalog to get the sugar lower than the 260 it was running. I ended up taking my own and informing the staff. i went home we agreed that I would use 80 units of Lantus a night and sliding scale on Novalog. i got home and the Novalog decreased to 0 daily but then i got lows in the middle of the night while just using Lantus. Wow Holy Cow! I reduced it to 50 units (My Endo out of country but lets me adjust) still got lows. Today I will not take any and see where this goes. I always scoffed at anyone suggesting I'd not need insulin but in January (when she returns) I will know more and at least know now the reduction is DRASTIC! Wow I love this sleeve my life is totally changed in such a short time.

I can't relate I was not put on a Pre Op diet and it was no big deal. I tried to follow recommendations of attempting to lose some weight but it didn't happen as the more insulin I took the more I wanted to ate and craved foods. No One was specific about a pre Op diet they suggested losing 6-8 LBS before surgery date and a 2 day bowel prep. My surgery was Tuesday the 19th on Saturday I woke up intending to fast until surgery but failed as Saturday night ate like a horse. Sunday and Monday I pushed it and took gas pills etc a little Protein Sunday as it said but Monday stayed all clear. In the end it make no difference. My Sleeve is a miraculous lost 28 LBs since surgery as of today. I read where some Pre Op Diets are drastic I admire those who accomplish the task. But it's not a huge deal not too either in my opinion. Godspeeed

All things about this surgery have been good but I wanna brew a starbucks was hooked on caffeine many years only off since surgery. (No Decaf for me flavor not there). They say after 6 months one cup is ok. I don't think i can make that. Everything else is fine but not the no Coffee! I'm well hydrated so I might take the plunge here soon but this early guess I should wait it out a bit? I had 3 Keurig's before surgery sold 2 because I knew wouldn't need them everywhere but josh I crave a good Thanksgiving bleand
