    Looking For Bypass Buddies!

please add me as friend I'm not sure how to do that on this phone :/
  2. ohhhhhhh. I wouldn't worry too much I think most of the time if you don't have a 5 year documentation on file with your own doctor then you will just have to do the 6 month supervised weight loss program with the center and your doctor. it ll work out just fine I'm sure! sometimes if people already have the 5 years documented that means they can skip the 6 month supervised diet with their doctor that's all. you can call the office and ask a cordnator the specifics you will feel much better after I know I had loads of questions anxieties worries as well. ugh .. good luck on the start of your journey and please keep me posted ! I used to live south of Houston Lake Jackson and Brazoria.

    So it begins....

that's a good idea I'll probably actually do that bevause near bedtime is when cravings usually start to creep up on me. I also love chicken broth so there's hope for me whew. we are allowed V8, chicken broth, sugar free pudding and jello oh and non sweetened applesauce. (for pre op) if anyone wants to add me as a friend please do! it's great having support on this web site no one else at home really understands!

    So it begins....

I will definitely take all the suggestions I can get. many thanks everyone.
  5. ALSO I am not sure what part of the process you are at...but most centers require a bmi of 37 with some health related issues due to being over weight. or a bmi of 40 with or without health issues. my bad I think it's 35. not 37.
  6. Depends on what your center requires of you and what your insurence requires. Mine did not require 6 month weight loss (BCBS of Illinois) but my center required 4-6 months with THEM. Sometimes it takes longer for some people due to some set back with lab work or some other things. mostly the centers they just like to have history on your past weight loss attempts but insurence requirements vary.

    Bypass process

at my location they require 4-6 months. I signed up Jan and got released by everyone yesterday. (social worker, physical therapist, nutritionist and the nurse.) it is all mental. I'm normally a very patient person but this really took my mind on a ride. I know many people wait as long as a year it all depends on your health status of anything holds u back (physical therapy etc) they will tell u when each of them are checking you off. they sent in to my insurence for the final approval yesterday so now it's another waiting game for me could be up to another 3-4 weeks. I had to keep telling myself not to let how long it takes stop me from making the best decision of my life.

    Telling my friends/family/work

maybe u can bring your best friend to one of the support groups or one of your nutrition classes so she has s better understanding I think it's mostly lack of understanding in why people are so against it. that and change. it's hard for some people to accept any change and that includes change in other people as well.
  9. I meant ...the physician assistant for the 2nd time. I have been released by everyone BUT my NUT so far.
  10. So far I been released by everyone but my NUT. I have a new appointment with her and the PA (again) May 15th. Was feeling a little frustrated but I'm doing okay now Im curious if anyone remembers having a 2nd appointment with PA and what was done at that appointment? They called me got set up appointment with her which was unexpected.

    On my own!

Hi necol just wondering how you are doing now? Hope all is well.
  14. From what I was told it can be anywhere from a week to 30 days. It really depends on your insurence. I have seen people on here say they call their insurence after 7 days and ask them if they have an update on the appeal and they will tell you.

    Looking For Bypass Buddies!

I understand about the falling off the wagon thing. I had something similar happen when I was on a different weight loss journey a few years ago. The hardest part is starting over. Important thing is we get back up and keep trying!!!
  16. I hate snow! Good luck with your appointments this week! Let us know how that went. I'm curious what they will do in PT ?
  17. You are a little ahead of me probably as I just started in Feb but I got a lot done by then. I'm 35 years old 5'3 and weigh 268 lbs. I had the first appointment with PA and had my evaluation and then got all my lab work done the ekg chest x ray blood work urine and stool sample?! Also I went to the nutrition classes. Next, I go to my first support group and then I have my last 3 requirements which is PT, meeting with nutritionist and the therapist again then I'm done.. I think. All appointments finished by the end of March. I am excited but I'm also very nervous. I will be using BCBS insurence.

6 wks post op and something isn't right

A lot of great advice im pre op and so I'm writing all this down in my notebook like there's no tommarrow. When u first read about the non flavored protine powder I thought to myself who does that?! I would want chocolate and vanilla and all that sweet goodness.. it's so hard to wrap my head around how things might be post op. I'm a bit nervous too. Sunny that sounds frusterating. I hope you find what works for you.
  19. I would tell your doctor who she works for what she said.

    Finally!

They said at our weight it takes around 30-40 lbs for others to notice I had weight loss once before and I found that to be true as well! We can feel it first before anyone can see it. I definitely felt lighter in my walk even getting out of the tub was way easier! Imagen a gallon of milk I think is about 5 lbs so u just dropped 8 gallons of milk !!! awesome feeling isn't it? Say*
  21. I have heard many times bcbs almost always denied it first time as they want extra weight loss documentation so I suggest you talk with your wls people and they will guide you on what to do next. The woman who is responsible for insurence stuff for wls at my office told me they usually accept it after u appeal once. It's a slightly longer road but it will happen. Keep going!!

    Looking For Bypass Buddies!

I'm 35 and I'm just starting as well. I had the regular initial appointment meeting the physician assistant and a social worker. I got the nutrition classes out of the way and I got PT and and dietitian appointment on March 17th. March 3rd im going to the support group that is required. This week I will have my labs done hopefully before Friday. Then They want me to have my yearly cervical exam because I haven't done that in a year. I'm by Springfield Illinois. I go between being really excited and then really nervous. Back and forth a lot. Meh.
  23. im just looking around and researching ive been concidering the sleeve myself. ive notice after every one is allowed to eat "normally" the diet requires low carb high protein is this somewhat similar to Atkins ?
